Aug 03 2008 Magic (West Coast)

Thanks for the info MN Dis Fans. Sounds great.

Where is everyone? :confused3 I haven't seen any posts in awhile.

How did everyone do with their reservations? I hope the reservation system worked for everyone. (I have to wait until the 20th, so I am curious to see how everyone else did.)

Ours went very smoothly. We did it all on the website rather than the phone.

I haven't done mine yet. :headache: I forgot to give our agent the go ahead to pay last week and was out of town this weekend so I couldn't even get with her till today. Hopefully, she will give me the go ahead shortly and I can see what I can get.

What's everyone planning?

Yeah, I got online last night promptly at 11cst or midnight est. It said I hadn't paid in full yet. Panic!:scared: In fact I paid in early March to avoid the extra port charges and had seen/paid for the dcl charge on my cc already. But, I got out of system and got back in, and it was fine. So, it must have been a glitch or getting in right on the line.

Anyway, we decided not to book any dcl excursions. We're going to take a water taxi in Cabo to see los arcos, seal island, lover's beach, and get dropped off at medano beach for the day. In Mazatlan, I think we've decided on randi's happy horses at stone island. And, in Puerto Vallarta, I think we are going to do open air expedition's dolphin's in the wild excursion. The only thing I wanted to book was Palo. We were shooting for an 11:00 brunch on Friday 8/8. Since Pirate night is the night before, we thought we could sleep in and go to a late brunch. Well, both the 11 and 11:30 slots were unavailable. We got 10:30; a little earlier than I wanted after pirate night, but should be ok I guess.

vossjemi DW was online last night @ 11:00PM CST :worship: to make our ressie's and came across the same glitch:scared1: . She panicked, and sent me an e-mail to chase up our AAA travel agent to make sure we were paid off, because the message she got said we were not. I sent our TA an e-mail :surfweb: just in case, but managed to speak to the DW this morning, and had her try again, and everything was fine.:thumbsup2

So, we managed to book Palo's Brunch for Friday 1030 I think it was.
DW, Grandma, and eldest DS are doing dolphin encounter at Cabo.
Grandpa, youngest DS, Uncle Tony, and I are doing a fishing excursion with RedRum.
At Mazatlan, we have a private tour booked.
At Puerta Vallarta we're all doing historic tour and tequila tasting. Eldest DS is doing the teen sailing.
No spa reservations made that I am aware of, although I don't normally find out about these until I get the bill. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

What else is everyone booking? :woohoo:

Looks like we'll be eating at Palo at the same time then! I noticed I had said thurs 8/8, but thurs is PV day...I edited to say friday!:goodvibes

Well, with SWA Mother's Day deals today, we booked our flight back on the 12th for $94pp. We were going to come home on the 10th, but the prices were just too high. This way we get to go to Disneyland a couple of days after the cruise. That is, unless the 10th prices come down later. Is anyone staying on after the cruise? If so, where are you staying or where do you recommend staying? Relatively cheap and close to DL that is. Thanks!

How do you guys know what each night is? I went to reserve for Palo but didn't know which night was what so I just went and reserved for dinner on Friday. Now I went to reserve for brunch and it's all booked.
Now I'm just hoping that something will free up for brunch.:guilty:

There was a thread about this & I wrote down the dining times. If I find the thread, I'll post a link, but this is what I wrote down.

5:30 LAAPLAP
5:45 APPLAPL
6:00 PLLAPLA

I think late seating is set up the same way.

Unless they changed it from March, the LAAPLAP was the 8:30 seating, which would be the 6 p.m. Not sure about the others.

We got our little packet of info from or TA. Gives the shore excursions but no prices. I want to do Stone Island in Mazatlan and it's not even on there. Anyway it's cheaper to reserve independently of the cruise line so that is what we will do.

We finally decided on this cruise date. It's DH, me, DD5 and DD12. DD5 is celebrating the big 6 bday! We're so excited! Time to start planning. Does anybody have a PDF compilation of the shore excursions?

I'll have to catch up on the 20 pages of posts sometime!

26. fcrouch - Wife, myself and our 8 year old daughter

Welcome M&C and fcrouch!

We are starting to get excited about the cruise. Made reservation for dinner at Palos on 8/9 (our anniversary is 8/8 but no openings available). Booked the Paradise Resort excursion in Puerto Vallarta, nothing for Cabo, and we're doing Stone Island in Mazatlan (not a DCL excursion) so we can relax on an UNCROWDED beach.

For a nice hotel near Disneyland I vote for either Anaheim Hilton or (right across the street) the Marriott. They are both right next to the Convention Center and easy walk to Dland. Plus if you request a high floor facing Disneyland you can see the fireworks from the hotel.

Thanks Amanuensis and Vossjemi!

I haven't looked at the excursions yet. Maybe the long weekend at Disneyland will help me wade through the long list.

I noticed on the cruisers list that Friends of Amanuensis is waitlisted for early dining. When I called a couple of days ago, I asked and was given early seating. They said there was room. You may want to give them a call. They did tell me that the seating was 5:30, 5:45 and 6:00 for the early seating and 15 min increments at the late seating as well. I thought it was only 6:00 or 8:00, but I was told that this format has been in place since at least last year. Can somebody explain this format to me?

Thanks!

Hello Everyone,

Just checking in. I finally had the opportunity to book Palo's. Since this is our first trip, I couldn't reserve until 5/20. Luckily there were plenty of dinner spots open, but all the brunch and tea slots were booked.

I was also able to switch our dinner seating to early seating this week with no problem.

First, welcome to the new cruisers.

The staggered early (5:30, 5:45 and 6:00) and late (8:00, 8:15 and 8:30) seating depends on the dining rotation. I think the three dining rotations are PLLAPLA, LAAPLAP and APPLAPL. Finally, you won't know what dining rotation you are on until the first day of the cruise.
