First of all... good job guys on bumping up this thread! :goodvibes
I am smiling from ear to ear! I canot wait to meet you all.

I went to the doctor's today. I have a virus. FABULOUS! Fever, sore throat, chills, headache, what more could I ask for. The doc said that I will be fine by the cruise. He sent me home with instructions to rest and get plenty of fluids! (throat culture pending for possible meds) REST! You could rest with a vacation quickly approaching and a party of 80 to prepare for.

Okay, I am taking a half day today to try to recover quickly.
My DD is going to an Angel game this evening so I can sleep until tomorrow morning. Everything looks better in the morning.

Oh what a bummer about being sick. Sending pixie dust your way for a speedy recovery: pixiedust:

O.K. this is a question for repeat cruisers.:)

I read on another thread something about taking pillowcases and photomats to get signed. Can someone explain what this is about?

awww, feel better:wizard:
it's not really a virus it's just the excitement of it all is triggering your senses making it "seem" like a virus.

We did this on our last DCL cruise. You supply everything - permanent markers, pillow cases and/or photomat and a list of character names. Drop these items off at guest services as soon as you can and by week's end they will return it to your stateroom. I have also heard that including candy/chocolates will help your cause. Add one of your favorite photos from the cruise and you'll have memories of your vacation. Autographed pillowcases are usually for the younger kids. After the vacation is over, they can go to sleep with the autographs of their favorite characters on the pillow.

Oh, NO!!! I'm so sorry! I hope you make a swift recovery and everyone else in your family stays healthy. (((HUGS)))

My brother lives in LaHabra Heights, which I believe is near the OC/LA county border, too! Small world.

Healthy vibes to you!!!

DL_DCA_fans and IceSk8ersMom, we're neighbors too. We live in the northeast part of Fullerton, just east of the Brea Mall. I just went to the Costco in La Habra last week.

We leave for CA. a week from today! :yay: :woohoo:

The DW started packing last night! :scared: Which is quite late in the bigger scheme of things. Normally, the suitcases are out a good month before we go. We wouldn't want to forget anything now would we? :rotfl2: The trick is to keep the bags under 50lbs. (By now you have figured out that we're flying, and I absolutely refuse to pay excess baggage) *I digress, but just last week I purchased a hand held digital scale, to avoid just that! I'm an elite level tier flyer, so get a 2nd bag at no extra charge, so was told that we'll have 1x suitcase just for the DW's shoes. :rolleyes1

All the FE stuff has been purchased. Oh yeah, must copy and print the room numbers to our travel guide, so we know what rooms we're delivering to. :thumbsup2

Door magnets done. Check. Thank You notes done. Check.

MMmmmmmmmmm. What am I forgetting? Oh, I know. A 2nd job, so I can pay for our upcoming week of bliss! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Really looking forward to meeting everyone! :grouphug:

We aren't flying in until Friday night. We spent a week in Anaheim three weeks ago for a dance event so we don't really need the extra time, though I think DS(almost)13 will die if he doesn't see the Chinese Theatre and DD16 will absolutely fade into oblivion if she doesn't eat at the Disney Ice Cream Parlor across the street, so we are going to try to do that on the way to San Pedro. We will be staying the two nights in San Pedro at the Double Tree.

We drove there when we were visiting before and found it to be a nice area to spend a few days. It was kind of refreshing that it was industrial rather than touristy. We then drove up the coast, stopping at many of the beach towns along the way. It was really a nice relaxing day.

The adults (me and my sister Kathy) will try to make the meet on Monday. I doubt the kids will want to come but I will try to get them to at least stop by. We have Palo brunch reservations that day so we might be rushed.

Can't wait to see everyone, especially MN Dis Fans family who we met on our last cruise.

Packing list is pretty much complete; won't actually pack until a few days before if not the night before ;)

It sounds like we're neighbors. We're in Whittier, bordering on La Habra and La Mirada.

My parents live in Whittier, and I grew up in Whittier. I also am an AP at a middle school in Whittier. It is truly a "Small World" after all.

If I recall DW is a teacher. Do you teach in the Whittier area? Could we possibly work for the same district?

Welcome Neighbor! We live a hop-skip-and a jump from Costco.
The Brea Mall is where I did most of my family's cruise shopping. I also went to high school and college in Fullerton. Cannot wait to meet you. See you soon.

No...different district. I teach in La Mirada in the NLMUSD. I went to school in Fullerton as well...Sunny Hills and CSUF.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to add this to my list of things to pack. I think my kids will like the pillowcases. I am also big into scrapbooking, so I think that picture mat would be great in one of my scrapbook pages.

IceSk8ersMom, how are you feeling now? Better, I hope!

I realized you asked me about my husband and daughter (thank you)!

My daughter is about 85-90% better since we took red meat out of her diet. We still have an endoscopy/biopsy scheduled at Loma Linda, but not until after the cruise. I am starting to think some of her tummy issues are also stress related. She internalizes EVERYTHING (she's an old soul) and I don't think that's helping matters any. I am seriously considering counseling for her, to work out these issues. We have such a stable, happy home life that it makes me especially frustrated to think she may be doing this to herself! I went through a lot growing up (went through hell, actually) and wasn't HALF as stressed out as she is. Ugh!

My husband is still not great (walking with a cane -- barely) but he is still shooting for making this cruise. We shall see!

I was just looking at the Navigators from the June 1st cruise. On Monday there was a Playhouse Disney Party in the Promenade Lounge at 10am. If they have the same schedule for our cruise, we should probably choose another location. :)

Since I am a new cruiser, I don't have any idea about a different place to meet.:confused3
How about moving it to 9:30am? (My kids would probably like to make it to the Playhouse Disney Party but I wouldn't miss the DISmeet if it was at the same time.:) )

Thanks for noticing that. We thought we had checked the Navigator for any conflicts...I guess we missed it! We could meet at 9:30 at the Promenade Lounge, but they may be setting up for the Playhouse Party, so we may be asked to move/leave. Topsiders is open for breakfast until 11:00, so that might work if we can find an area large enough to accomodate our group. We could meet somewhere outside, but it might be cold since we'll be on the sea. What do you guys think?:confused3
