We are going to Universal for two days in May! We have a new addition to our family, who will be 7 months old at the time. Can I bring my little one on things like Twister and Disaster? We have three older children between the ages of 5-9 and will pretty much be able do most rides. I am just curious as to what I would be able to bring the baby on. Thanks.

I had a 10 month old the first time we went and I'll be honest, I was disappointed. If they are not walking they cannot ride anything...not cat in the hat or one fish, two fish. Nothing. Very different from Disney. They can do the show type things but some of them are loud. They rave about the little kid play areas but most of them involve water. Your other kids will have a blast. If I had known ahead of time I would have been more prepared and it probably would have been fine.

Pretty sure they can do the Caro-Seuss-El, but that is probably about the only ride.

I think we were able to do this but I believe we had to sit on the bench - certainly no sitting him on a horse. It's been a long time

Oops, no we weren't allowed on carousel - see next post!

We COULD NOT do the carousel. I remember it clearly now. And my son could actually take a few steps, I just didn't bring real shoes - he had those slipper/mocs on and they wouldn't let him on. They said he had to walk on and off the ride by himself.

post numbers 11 and 12 are mine.

I know I skipped Twister because he was sleeping and I can't remember if we did Disaster that trip or the next. Based on my carousel experience, I'd be surprised if we could do the ride part of Disaster, but I'm sure the show part would be fine.

I have no clue how that makes any sense. I don't know if it is Universal themselves that make their rules or if it is their insurer. Seems pretty silly to me!!!

Babies are allowed in Twister but it is terribly loud. There was a man holding a very small baby standing next to me on our last trip. I was so worried about her the whole show. The poor tyke screamed and screamed at the end.

That's too bad they are not allowed on The cat and the Hat and the Carousel. So fun and so much to look at! Is the Trolley Train allowed?

No. The trolley train actually has a height requirement

Wow...Thank you. I did not realize it was like this either. I'm surprised though with the One Fish, Two Fish. I know we had our daughter at Disney at 6 months and I remember asking a CM what she could ride Peter Pan and was told she could go on "everything in Fantasyland". I guess me and DH are going to have to just take turns sitting out with our little guy. My parents are going too so I'm sure they will help too. Thanks again.

Woah, didn't realise any of this!! We are travelling with our toddler in May, he will be 14.5 months, he's walking quite a bit now but not in proper shoes yet. He's 30.5 inches at present, do you think he'd be allowed on many rides at USF/IOA? Is there anything there to keep him occupied?

I believe as long as he can sit up on his own, he will be able to ride Cat in the Hat, Caro-Seuss-el, One Fish Two Fish, Storm Force and Poseidon's Fury at IOA. At the Studios, Disaster!, Twister and Shrek don't have height requirements, but Disaster and Twister might be a little scary for a small child.

There are plenty of fun play areas around, though!!

Wrong - if he can walk on to and off the ride then fine. Sitting up on the ride is a Disney standard, not Universal. And make sure you have proper shoes for your toddler.

Just my experience. Good luck!

Actually, it is a Universal standard as well. In Universal's rider's guide, the only requirement for Caro-Seuss-El is to be able to "independently maintain yourself in an upright position while seated". My guess is that if a baby is unable to walk unsupported, the operators would not believe that the baby is able to independently support itself while on the ride.
