Attractions that induce motion sickness?

Okay so I'm wondering which attractions are most likely to cause motion sickness? Of course I already know that Space Mountain and Mission Space will and have signs posted stating such, but there are some that aren't obvious and I don't want to take any chances. Soarin', Spaceship Earth, Kali River Rapids, Test Track? I have visual issues as well as motion, and just watching a video of a rollercoaster will make my stomach go Whoa:sick:... Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask, but I wasn't sure where to post the question. Thanks y'all.

I, too, have vision issues and can't tolerate most "simulator" rides. The things that make me nauseated are Mission Space, Star Tours (closed anyway) and Soarin". In addition I can't tolerate the teacups.

Stay away from Soarin' then!

I have the same issues and that almost always leaves me queasy!

There is a scene in Mickey's Philharmagic that shows Aladdin and Jasmine soaring through the air on the Magic Carpet and that even makes me a little dizzy sometimes!

Soarin' gets me a little queesy. Anything that spins like Mission Space and Teacups gets me as well as some 3D movies. If you get sick on Spaceship Earth then you have real problems.

Yup, these are the exact same rides I have problems on as well.

Oh...add Primeval Whirl to that list!

OT- and yay for some philly folks! I went to Drexel and just moved to FL from Allentown two years ago!

Me too! And my kids love sitting up front for Philharmagic, so I just close my eyes!

I have issues on Star Tours and Mission Space, but Soarin' doesn't bother me. Of the ones that you listed, Soarin' may bother you a little, Spaceship Earth should be fine, Test Track is basically just like riding in a car with a crazy driver, and Kali River Rapids is so short that it should be okay. There's one little dip and your boat may spin around a little, but not too fast.

RnRc makes me queasy.

And anything that goes in a circle, like Dumbo, Teacups, etc.

I love Toy Story Midway Mania, but that ride can make me a bit queasy sometimes...it tends to be a bit jerky when going from game to game...

Do you take anything for your motion sickness?

I get it too, and I have taken Bonine for it before. It works, but it makes me so sleepy! This trip, I am trying MotionEase, Sea Bands, and Ginger Pills because I am anti drugs that make me feel bad!!

All the above for me too. I don't even like looking at the teacups. Ugh! Dramamine works for me but makes me very sleepy. One thing that I have found that works really well is Ginger pills. I buy them in a natural food store. I take some in the morning and then bring some with me just in case. When I take these I can honestly ride most rides and not be bothered. I even used them on a whale watch off Cape Cod and didn't feel the least bit sea sick.

That's good to know! I'm so nervous about NOT taking 'drugs' this trip!!!!

Mission space (I think it's green-the fast version)
Expedition Everest

Those were the only two that made me feel sick afterward and I'm pretty resilient.

SDS - I honestly don't worry anymore since finding the ginger pills a few years ago. I've taken as few as 2 if I'm just going to be in the front seat of the car and as many as 5 if we're at the parks and I know I'm going on rides. They don't bother my stomach - take them with food just to be sure though. And best of all they work without making you sleepy. I hope they work for you! We're not going till January and I've already got the bottle in my carry on. :rotfl:

Astro-orbiter -- the entire ride! Not only are you spinning but you are tilted and all of your inner ear fluid sloshes around. I have never been so ill on a Disney ride. The teacups I can handle as long as I ride with DS and we don't turn the wheel. I'm sure Primevil Whirl (or Hurl) would be a problem but fortunately I have zero interest.

I used to take Bonine when I was little and we realized how easily I got sick on car rides. When I got older and really looked at what was out there, two things really work for me:

1. are bands that you put on your wrists that have a little ball right on a pulse point. DUnno how, but I drove all over Europe with those things and never once felt sick.

2. Dramamine but NOT the regular - it'll knock you out hardcore. If you take the 'extra strength' (I think it's called) that lasts for like, 12 hours rather than the usual 4-6 or whatever it is, that stuff doens't make me drowsy at all.

I talked to the pharmacist last time I went ot buy some Dramamine and he informed me there's 'no such thing' as medicine for it that doens't make you drowsy, becaues the main active ingredient that keeps you from getting sick is also what triggers drowsiness, but still, that Extra Strength leaves me just fine with no motion sickness. I'd highly recommend it.

In Epcot the movies shown in Canada & China.

I want to echo this... based on your description of your sensitivity, these are likely to induce motion sickness in you, even though they don't bother most people.

Mission space (I think it's green-the fast version)

No, the 'fast' version is Orange. Green is the mild side.

None of these things gives me problems. I'm a wild ride junkie. ;)

However the backwards-in-the-dark portion of Expedition Everest can make me feel queasy if I do it more than twice in a row. So I would recommend you not ride it at all.
