Hi all we are coming back to the world in Oct, we are bringing my mom in law and she gets sick on any ride that turns and goes backwards. Can anyway list rides that do this thanks

None of these go backwards the entire ride.

Haunted Mansion
Expedition Everest
TTA (depending on which seat you sit in)
Buzz Lightyear (if you spin the car around)
Toy Story Mania (...I think...but it's a very short period between 'games')

MK:
Buzz Lightyear- you can spin your car into a position that would put you backwards
Possibly the teacups, if spinning bothers her too...
Haunted Mansion
TTA/Peoplemover (Depending on Seat)

Epcot:
Maelstrom
Spaceship Earth

DHS:
Toy Story Mania whirls you around pretty quick, and could potentially put you in a backwards-moving position

AK:
Primeval Whirl
Expedition Everest

And transportation wise, the Monorail- depending on what seat you sit in

Expedition Everest most certainly goes backwards, after you come to the broken track.

Hmmm, after re-reading humboldthny's post, I don't think they meant to say 'None of these', since they all go backwards.

I think they meant that it might go back, but only for part of the ride, not the complete ride.

They only one that is a surprise is Expedition Everest - whoops hope I didn't ruin the surprise.

The tea cups and primeval whirl she can see before she rides and make a decision.

TTA, Spaceship Earth, HM, TSM, BL and Malestrom are all too tame to worry about the backwards part. And on TTA you can sit so you always go forward. JMHO.

This will sound silly.. but make sure she sits facing forward on the Disney buses. Some of the seats at the back face the *wrong* way and it made DH really sick to sit in them. He only did it once to learn that lesson.

Maelstrom's backward run IS designed to be a "surprise..."
just as much as the Expedition Everest ride is.

Even though Mission: Space at Epcot doesn't go backwards, the orange version of the ride gave me the same nauseous feeling as if it did go backwards. I felt sick to my stomach for a couple of hours. :sad1:

You/re wrong about SSE being too tame to worry about. I have a friend that rode it years ago once and was too ill to continue touring. It's at a severe angle and is very long.

I agree. It’s not fast, but it is a steep angle and someone who gets motion sick easily could have a problem. My sister in law had problems with it.

Interesting,

I consider SSE to be very gentle when it goes backwards but you must
know your relative very well. We also do Maelstrom.

And, we pretty much avoid Teacups, TOT, Bodywars, StarTours, any of the Mission
Space rides, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain.

Not everyone's tolerance is the same, so go with your gut feeling...
It's all about enjoying your vacation and that's the most important thing.

Don't think we have to worry about that one anymore :happytv:

Well, I haven't done that one in years, however, I remember it.

Thanks for catching that one.

I'm sure the OP will appreciate your input on this.:confused3

It is gentle, but motion sickness has much more to do with whether the motion the person sees matches the motion they are experiencing than whether it is gentle or not.
In the case of the going backwards, many people get motion sick if they are not facing the direction they are going.

Like I mentioned each individual's tolerances are different and should be
respected.

Thanks everyone we have been many times but you know we don't pay attetion if it was just a slight backward movement so we don't want any surprises. In 08 we took her on expedition everest not knowing she couldn't tolerate backwards she was sick the rest of the day and since they only went to AK and Epcot this is a big trip.
