where does everyone want to work? & if you've done attractions before, what's it like? & what are good attractions to work at?

all i ever really hear about is how much people want to work at tower of terror & the haunted mansion.

I want to work at Test Track or Soarin'! There's something about those uniforms that I just love! Of course though, I was accepted into Main Entrance Operations, so I don't think that's going to happen for me! Oh well. It'll be fun either way! Have a great time in Attractions!!

I was an attractions cast member on my original program. First part of my program I worked at Studios at Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Playground and Lights, Motors, Action. Second half of my program when I extended I was transferred to Magic Kingdom and worked on Big Thunder Mountain. It's a lot of fun but the more advanced the attraction is technically the more is required of you and the longer your training will be.

Example: Honey I Shrunk the Kids was 2 days of training because there wasn't anything major to learn. Big Thunder Mountain took 5 days of training and it involved a lot of notes and other fun stuff.

Attractions is definitely a fun job though, I absolutely loved coming to work every day and wouldn't have traded it for any other role.

I did attractions in Tomorrowland, the former Buzz Complex so I was on Buzz, TTA, CoP, Astro, Stitch and Timekeeper. It was a really fun role and I especially like that I had a variety of attraction to rotate between and wasn't just stuck at one all day long everyday. Training for me was 1 day for each attraction, plus 1 night of closing one and then a day for PAC training.

You should find out where you work on the second day.

When I first arrived they had me set at a park and a specific area of that park but not a specific attraction. I had to call a number and they asked me a few general questions and then placed me. When I extended I made a request to go to Magic Kingdom but had no real preference for attractions except perhaps Frontierland or Tomorrowland and I actually got my request fulfilled for the most part.

it also depends on your background/experience. i'd been working in the food industry since i was 17, so they put me and other people i knew who already worked with food in restraunt kitchens. otherwise, yeah, it's pretty much 'you take what they give you.'

so if you let them know you have an extensive background in theatre they might give you a ride with a long speech?

If you want to work at a spiel attraction, tell them during the interview that you'd like to work at a spiel attraction. It's not a guarantee, but it'll help.

Actually, attractions are assigned based on operational needs. The coordinator of training who schedules your training does not know anything at all about your background. I trained many cp's at the Tiki Room (ATT) who thought they were supposed to be at Jungle Cruise because they were theater majors. Some even protested to management. They were told by some rather unsympathetic managers what I am telling you now.

Enjoy whatever position you get and find the fun in it.

This is semi-true, at least from what I've been told.

Ultimately speaking, labor takes any placement notes on a candidate's profile into consideration when trying to fill open requisitions for the given check in date (this is a few weeks before arrival)... and like you said, this is based upon operational needs. Local COTs however have very little to do with the selection process- though I could see where they'd stand to get any of the flak from participants if they disagree with their placements.

While work-location assignments are always based upon operational needs, it's not always a total stab in the dark. If anyone has certain requests, they should make an attempt to communicate them to their recruiter- nothing is guaranteed, but having placement notes could prove to be fruitful.

This is what I've been told from OL&D and my area's leadership. I'd take it with a grain of salt of course, the only people who truly know is college recruiting and labor.

I have always wanted to work as a princess (preferably Bell) but if i had to work at a ride it would definitely be Tower of Terror. It is my favorite ride on the park, plus you get to kind of play and act and scare people. It seems fun!

hey kristen, did you get attractions? i'm in attractions in the fall :D
