I need your expertise...

We are travelling to DL the last week of August and I have a few questions and need some help...please...

1. I know it will be very warm for us. We are from Northern Canada and don't get extremely warm days. So are the daytime highs scorching and the nights cool? I am going to bring alot of sunscreen and shorts and hats for the kids but at night, can they still wear shorts and a sweatshirt or do they need to wear pants?

2. We booked the Seaworld excursion with travel? Does anyone know how that works? How do we know what day we are going and how do we get to our transportation? Once you get to Seaworld, do you follow a group or do you go and do your own thing?

3. How far is it from PP to Edison Field? Can we take a cab or walk or what would be the best way to get there to see the angels play?

TIA, sorry it is so long. We are really excited about our first family vacation.

Hi there! I'll try and help. :)

August is really NOT all that hot, at least to me. :) We have DRY heat here, very little humidity, so it's not oppressive heat. Highs could range anywhere from the upper 70s to the mid-90s during tha time frame. No matter what our nights are MUCH cooler there than the days; it's only about a couple odd weeks out of the year that we get warm evenings. You'll probably be okay with a sweatshirt and shorts at night if you are used to Canadian weather. :)

For the Sea World add-on with transportation, there should be information in your trip documents that tells you what arrangements need to be made. Typically you arrange the transportation and then once you get to the park you're on your own.

You definitely can NOT walk to Edison Field, its a couple of miles away on a busy street. It's easily accessible by cab.

Enjoy! :)

I can help with some of you questions...
It will be warm during the day - it could be very warm. At night it does cool off and I like to have layers so I can add a sweatshirt and jacket it it's real cool. My DH always wears shorts (and then adds a sweatshirt) and is fine but he wear shorts in February so go figure. I put long pants on my son (he is 3).

If you are staying at one of the Disney resort hotels it is too far to walk to Edison Field - a short 10 min cab ride (depending on traffic) costs about $15 each way.

Just a note about sunscreen.
Use at least a 30 SPF and remember you need to apply it early and often. We usually apply before we leave, then reapply at lunch and then again in mid-afternoon. If your children (or you) will be swimming make sure to apply it about 30 mins before they hit the water and again after they are done. Nothing makes a misserable vacation then a nasty sunburn. And don't forget to use sunscreen and a hat for yourself.

You should be okay with a sweatshirt or light jacket in the afternoon.

I agree, it is too far to walk to see the Angels.

You will not have the humidity you can ALWAYS expect in florida--it does happen but very seldom and then maybe for a day or two at the most. You can always bring a jacket or long pants and put them in the lockers--you can access them all day and all nite for one price (per day).

I hope you will have a great time here. I practically live at DL and DCA so please feel free to PM with any other ??? you might have
