Attention Disney Store CM's: Discount Question

I started working at The Disney Store about a month ago. Now that we have been officially bought by Disney as of yesterday (yay! ) I'm told that our CM discount - while reduced from 30% to 20% - is now valid in the parks and at the Disney hotels.

Does anyone know if the CM discount can be used on a package? I have a free dining package booked for September and am wondering if I can apply my new CM discount to the package, or rebook with the discount. I've already done the math, and if the discount is good for room-only reservations but not for packages then it's not worth it, since it would only save $200 and we'd lose the Dining Plan. Also, is the CM discount good at WDW restaurants too? This is all new to me and nobody at my store seems to know yet.


If this thread is in the wrong place, please move it or let me know. I wasn't sure where to put it and the search wasn't working.

I don't know about Stores cast, but WDW based cast cannot use their discount on packages, it's room only.

I worked there when it was Disney, and the discount was 20% at stores and restaurants, 15% off DVC, and 50% off rooms if available, but I never did the room thing, I bought the DVC. After 3 years, the discount went up to 35%.

I actually applied back at my old store last week and was hired back, but as of yesterday, they couldn't put new hires in the computer. She told me to call back tomorrow. I didn't ask about specifics for discounts now at the interview, I figured I'd find out soon enough.

I can't imagine they will let you use both free dining and an employee discount together.

Not many places will let employees get their discount and sale or special offer prices. Some places won't let employees use coupons or special offers at all even though they are released to the general public.

But it can't hurt to ask. I would ask too. LOL

Thanks for all the answers, I still can't find out the official word! I'm happy just to have the discount for shopping at the parks, even if I can't apply it to my package. I am bummed that my TDS discount went down from 30% to 10%, but I guess it's a tradeoff. I've also heard rumors that the kind of free tickets we get might change as well but again, I haven't heard the final word on that either. My manager said they'll be getting a document sometime this week or next week with all the details in it, and right now nobody is quite sure what the perks are. It's all very confusing, but exciting!

I actually booked a trip this weekend and asked the Cm about this. You can not book the dining package at all with a room discount. So by using my CM discount, I can not add dining on at all(even for the regular price). Occasionally they do have special packages for Cms too, but do not have one that applies to store cms at this time.
