It was GREAT! There were quite a few people there and the amount of car honking, waving and thumbs up was very heart warming.

That said,a few things that happened really irritated me.Our signs CLEARLY stated "Support our Troops" and we got about half a dozen thumbs down. How does someone actually NOT support our troops? This was not pro-Bush or anything, just support the troops.

The other odd thing was a reporter from our local paper asked me if I had anyone in the war.I said no.She then asked "Well isn't it strange for you to be here supporting the troops if you don't have someone over there?" Like you can only be patriotic or pro-troops if you have a service-member in your family. What a whack job she was. Can't wait to see if she put anything I or my son said to her in the paper, and if she did,if it resembles what we really said

You have every right to feel proud of what you did today.....

I think you did a great thing. :D :) ;) :p :bounce: :Pinkbounc

We live in a college town and there were anti war protestors here.

The one thing I did see that was different were their signs.

Pro America, Pro troops, Pro peace.

So, there was no negative connotation involved.

Did not see a support the troops rally. Maybe I should have started one?

Thats awesome! After all the anti war sentiment I so want to attend a support the troops rally.

If I didn't have a child I would have, instead I adopted a Marine to send letters & packages to. So he knows that total strangers stand behind him & his troops 100%.

Great Job,
Lisa

Go to glennbeck.com and check out Rally for america, There might be one close to you to attend. In NE they had one (I couldn't go though) had 5000 people show up in Omaha on a day it was 10 degrees and wind and snow. These are not pro war rallies but rallies for America. :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Exactly! I wish the media could make this distinction.

DH and I attended the Rally for America in downtown Houston 3 weeks ago along with 10,000 other people. It was incredible. We got local TV and newspaper coverage but that was it.

The Atlanta rally last weekend (25,000+ in attendance) managed to get CNN coverage. (Would have been hard for them to ignore considering it was held across the street from CNN headquarters.)

As rajak suggested, the best place to check out details of past and future rallies is at Glenn Beck's website. If anyone wants to start one on their own they can contact his program and get it promoted.

Glenn Beck Program - Rally for America

I gave photos from the rally I attended along with info printed off the internet about rallies around America to a coworker who has a son in the Army stationed overseas and she included it in a care package. I wanted him and his fellow soldiers to see there are many of us here who support our troops as I'm afraid they're hearing much more about all the anti-war protests than they are about these rallies.

Edited to add the following disclaimer: Yes, I'm aware that many of the anti-war protesters claim to support the troops. Somehow I don't think the troops see it that way.

Good for you pat fan!!!!!! I was really upset seeing all the
anti-war protesting going on especaily in Chicago (we live in a suburb of Chicago). Yesterday, there was a Support Our Troop Rally taking place right across the street from the Anti-War protesters!!! :teeth: I was sssssssssssooooooooo happy to see that!!! I told dh I wish we could have been down there to help Support Our Troops!!!!!!
