we were thinking of going to animal kingdom on 9/3 (day after labor day). We won't have any fastpasses. One website says that attendance is the lowest right after labor day. What do you think. This is the only day we could go.

I was there last year and it was definitely low crowds. FoP had a 45 minute stand by wait, which is just crazy in the middle of the day.

Not sure how Galaxy's Edge will affect that this year, though.

I think this year is anyone's guess. We had our plans set before SWGE opening was announced and now we are unsure of what to expect. We are going to be there the same time (8/31-9/8) and I had success with all of my fastpasses and dining reservations so I am hopeful for moderate crowds. We will make the best of it, whatever it is! We usually go in the summer, so we shouldn't be too too shocked. But we are going to have fun no matter what!

If it's the only day you can go, then go and don't worry about crowds levels. I don't think it will be so crowded that you won't be able to enjoy it. There are so many things to do at AK that are not rides that you can definitely fill your time.

The week after Labour Day is traditionally one of the lowest crowd levels of the year. This year will be impacted by Galaxy's Edge Phase 1 opening the week prior, but nobody knows for sure how much of an impact. My guess is that Hollywood Studios will see an uptick for sure, but I don't think the overall resorts and other parks will be significantly different than they usually are for that time of year.

Since it's the only day you can go, then set your expectations for moderate to high crowds and if you get the usual low to moderate, then you'll be pleasantly surprised. Even if you don't have tickets yet and can't pre-book fastpasses, you should still take advantage of booking them day of there will lots of availability for most rides.

That timeframe was very low crowds last year when we were there, but Galaxy's Edge is a wild card. Nobody knows how that will affect attendance at other parks. If that's the only time you can go, I would go.
Why no fastpasses, though?

We have to pick up the tickets the day before at the hotel. That is why we cant book fast passes. Thanks for your thoughts.

That doesn’t mean NO fast passes. It just means you would have to be persistent with the app for awhile. You can get a lot of good fast passes if you constantly refresh. Especially the day before when people change plans. I also do think crowds will be less than during the weekend craziness. A lot of people coming in for the opening should be gone by the third.

Exactly... Just log into the app once you pick up the tickets and schedule fast passes.

You can’t really judge from this kind of observation, but for kicks I just searched FPs for 2 that day. Other than FoP, there are abundant FPs for all rides at all times over the course of the day.

Reminder about the daily 7-8am EMHs and 8am park opening - which in my opinion should really help to spread crowds around and make for some quality touring opportunities (unless SWGE is so overloaded they send the masses away to the other parks!).

It's gonna be dead that week, so don't fret too much.

Book your fastpasses after you pick up the tickets. Download the Walt Disney World / My Disney Experience app and it'll guide you as to how to. The night before there will still be lots to choose from. Doing it the day of will be less beneficial but still better than not doing it at all. The whole setup will take 5-10 minutes and save you 30-200 minutes in line.
