:hourglass I have recently done the tour (sat. 4/30/05) ,looked at this forwards and backwards and can not see any drawbacks. I no longer purchase on impulse :goodvibes .Live and learn. I called the tour rep. yesterday, left a message .Called again today and left a message. Maybe i'm being impatient ,but I would like to get this going.I settled on 175 pts. and am probably too late for an add-on and the 100 day incentive but would like to try it if time allows. I'm new to this forum but have a feeling i'll be back often. I've already gained dvc knowledge from it. My family loves wdw and we should have done this sooner! My question is "how good are the dvc reps at returning calls? As a potential buyer I would think a return call would be important. The rep. should be in since she advised me to call her before thurs.
Thanks in advance for all the great advice here.
Joe

It may be that your guide (sales rep) is out of the office for some reason, or is in rotation for selling on the cruise line. If you don't hear back today, I'd call the main sales number and ask for a supervisor, they should be able to help you.

Ours was awful at returning calls. I was trying to buy an add-on before a price increase back in 2001. I left several messages over a week, then I just demanded to speak with any "guide" who was availible. He took my add-on request reluctantly and I noticed when the papers came they still had my guides name on them. But, I have not needed him for the past few years as I've been doing the resale route.

Thanks. I don't seem to have the main sales # in all my papers though.
Do you have that?

As with anything customer service oriented, you will find some are better than others. I won't reccomend our guide just for the sake that you will get 20 other people listing their guide and how great he/she is. My suggestion is to call and ask to speak to a supervisor. Find out if there is a reason you haven't been called back. If you aren't happy with the answer ask to speak to a guide that is willing to work FOR YOU.

This is from the DVC public page.

Ours was real good. However, be aware that it seems as if early weekdays (Monday, Tuesday, sometimes Wednesday) are popular days off for some DVC guides. At least the ones we've dealt with-sales is a 7 day a week business, and later in the week tends to be busiest, from what I've seen. So maybe he's had days off.

I've been waiting for a call back since last Thursday :sad2: I'm not a happy camper  I even called the main number today and left a message with a real person, they said someone would call me back, and still nothing :confused3 I'm easy too, I already know exactly what I want, she won't even have to sell me, I'm already sold. Hope you hear something soon (and I do too) :goodvibes

When we toured, our guide told us their answering machines had date/time stamps. So if you called by midnight on the 3rd day after your return, that should count towards getting the incentives.

Once you commit to purchase, you can adjust the points up, or down to 150, and still get the incentive price. They will just have to send you a new contract to sign.

We've had 2 different guides now and neither are/were responsive. We just called our current guide 3 days ago about adding on and no call back. Guess she doesn't need our $$$...we are probably going to go the resale route anyways.

I have had great success with Judy Kaufman. If you can request someone, I would recommend her highly. She was great at returning calls, seems very competent, and was helpful in resolving problems!!! :goodvibes

I agree with going the supervisor route, as well. Good luck to you!

This is one of the two reasons I went the resale route. The other being that I wasn't all that interested in SSR as my "home resort" -- see threads on buy where you want to stay as that topic has been discussed

I think the guides are swamped!! With the parks packed, they probably are doing a ton of tours. I would say keep calling, eventually you will get through!!

Plus, I heard that they go on the Disney cruises from time to time so your guide my be out of the office.

AND, you don't have to go resale to buy sold-out resorts, they will put you on the waiting list at disney if the points are not immediately available. That is what I did. If you are interested in the BCV or VWL or BWV, I would say get on the Disney wait list, because after all the closing costs and so forth, how much do you really save on a 150 point contract? I figured it out and over so many years it was peanuts for my small 150 contract and alot less hassle. No RoFr to worry about, just wait for the points to come in. For OKW, HH and VB, you can find contracts with more reasonable prices on resale and you can snag a bargain more easily which make resale much more worthwhile.

Your guide will discourage you from buying anything but SSR. They will say that the waiting list might take a year or more and so forth. And, it might, but very unlikely it will take that long, especially if you are buying your first contract. Plus you get points immediately. No stripped contracts. JMHO!

I think that the guides are worried that if you don't buy right now, you will change your mind while on the waiting list. :rotfl2:

Good Luck and keep trying!!

Found this thread, as we have been trying to get our rep for a day. Once DH decides on something we need to do it NOW! I will try the main number.

My guide was great! It took two months of a lot of research and question asking before I made my decision. And my guide would stay with me on the phone until all my questions were answered. Sometimes, that was an hour or more on the phone. I bet there were people calling and having to wait while he was speaking with me. So be patient. They are helping a lot of different people.

Also, they have tours with people on site. That will put them out of the office for 2 hours or more.

And finally, my guide works on a 4 day on and 2 day off schedule. I don't know if this is the standard work week for them or not. But a rotating schedule like this makes it hard for us to know when to call. But he always did call me back within a couple of days.

But, most important, congrats on your decision to join. :cheer2:
