Attack of the Lakeshore Lodge

Looking at the aerials, LL looks about 2–3 times bigger than Riviera (300 rooms). LL has 16 building sections compared to RR’s 7, and some of LL’s sections have more bays. Both are similar in that not all sections have the same number of floors.View attachment 1019008View attachment 1019009
When comparing the two, remember Riviera is DVC only. 489 keys at Riviera (lockoffs increase the number).
399 keys at LSL puts it about 18% fewer than Riviera.

However, the hotel side at ~557 is large. Assuming max of 4 in each of these rooms, that's ~2200 more guests.

Edit: correcting with Touring Plans and DVC News data (AI was wrong), Wilderness Lodge, Boulder Ridge, and Copper Creek have a maximum of 704 rooms. WL 339, BRV 136 max 181, and 184 CCV. LSL has CFW and Crockett's Tavern right there.

Putting LSL area as significantly large than WL/BRV/CCV.

They did more of a phased approach there. WL opened in 1994. BRV (original VWL) opened in 2000. CCV was mostly a conversion of WL rooms to DVC rooms, but they added the cabins.

Interesting how cycles happen. Here's a list of hotel conversions to DVC (and I may be missing some):
  • AKL converted some rooms to DVC, became AKV Jambo (opened 2007)
  • Contemporary wing demolished and BLT built in it's place (opened 2009)
  • Polynesian longhouses built in the 1980s, converted to PVB longhouses (opened 2015)
  • WL converted some rooms to CCV (opened 2017)
  • CBR had some islands demolished and converted into Riviera (opened 2019)
  • GF Big Pine Key converted to VGF rooms (opened 2022)
  • FW Cabins converted to DVC CFW (opened 2024)
I realize Disney uses DVC inventory for cash bookings, but it's still nice to see them adding hotel rooms.

So if
LSL is 400 DVC + 557 hotel = 957 rooms (some reports say 900 rooms)
Contemporary/BLT is 295 DVC + 655 hotel = 950 rooms
Boardwalk is 532 DVC + 378 hotel = 910 rooms
Grand Floridian = 867 rooms
Beach Club = 282 DVC + 583 hotel = 865 rooms
Poly is 380 DVC + 479 hotel = 859 rooms
Aulani is 481 DVC + 351 hotel = 832 rooms
French Quarter all hotel rooms = 1008 rooms

Just trying to give myself some perspective on the size of LSL

When counting DVC rooms, the room type breakdown changes things.

For example, BLT
https://dvcnews.com/wdw-resorts/bay-lake-tower/blt-resort-information
For example, BLT lockoffs take the max total rooms (keys) up to 428. Smallest room sleeps up to 4 (similar to hotel room).
1BR sleeps up to 5 (also similar to hotel rooms depending on resort).
Dedicated 2BRs sleep 9 (essentially double a hotel room).
GVs sleep around 12.

At some newer resorts (Riviera, PVB IT, and VDH?) they have tower/duo studios that sleep 2. So the number is lower than a hotel room.

I believe LSL is rumored to have some duos.
Total people at LSL restaurants, bars, shopping, transportation is going to be larger because CFW and FW are right there. Time will tell if Disney planned well for the capacity demands.

Chatter from seemingly reliable sources has been ~399 (308 not locked off) DVC and ~557 hotel, so ~956 total. I guess we won't really know what (if anything) has changed in the unit make-up until they announce something on the DVC or hotel side (or both). I'm still of the mindset that this will be a DVC/hotel hybrid as originally announced, but of course that's not confirmed either. Since it's easier to count normal hotel rooms from exterior windows, I can get close that hotel room count on the supposed "hotel wing" of the building, for whatever that is worth.
...and those reliable sources work somewhere that has access to the architectural drawings. At least, they claim to, and they've been right so far, so I think 400 max DVC keys +/- is good enough for rock and roll.

Indeed, a WDWMagic User HauntedPirate has had the full architectural plans for almost a year now. I believe Lentesta with touring plans has also been given a copy and is currently building out the room map for their website which hopefully we will have soon.

Cash room breakdown (557 total):
Two queens: 481
Single king: 70
Two bedroom: 4
Vice Presidential Suite: 1
Presidential Suite: 1

DVC room breakdown (399 total):
Pod: 24
Studio dedicated: 95
Studio lockoff: 91
1BR : 91
1BR dedicated: 51
2BR: 38
Grand Villa: 9

This is from a six week old post now, but fairly obvious confirmation that they have the architectural plans.

Things that I wouldn’t expect them to have access to from that document are final design elements, room view categories. Or any DVC association details.
