Well I woke up pretty early this morning around 10 and I decided to hit Animal Kingdom. Today there was going to be no rain just that wonderful humidity. I stepped outside and within 5 minutes I was sweating like crazy. I drove to Animal Kingdom and parked at my other secret spot. I got into the park and headed straight for the Safari to grab a fast pass. I knew I wanted to see Tarzan Rocks again because I love the show. But first I went and road the new coaster Primeval Whirl. It wasnt much to write home about so thats all Ill write. The wait was only 15 minutes. After the ride I got right into Tarzan Rocks. Now Ive been hot before but I dont think Ive ever suffocated like this. It was awful in that theatre. Luckily they were selling frozen lemonade so I ran right for that stand and got some. My seat was pretty close and I enjoyed the show immensely.
After the show it was time for my fast pass at the Safari. Now Im very familiar with the safari since one of my good friends was a driver for the ride. I also knew lots of the South Africans that worked there as well. But with cutbacks in budgets Disney quit bringing the South Africans here for the program. So now everyone driving is American and it just doesnt feel the same. I miss the accent so much, and the way they added to the atmosphere. It was an enjoyable ride but I wont be happy with it till they bring back the South Africans.
After the ride my cell phone rang and it was my friend Laura again. She was done with a meeting over at Epcot and called to see if I wanted too meet up. I picked her up at the Boardwalk and we made our way to the Animal Kingdom lodge. If youve read my previous trip reports youll know that Laura doesnt get out much at Disney even though she has worked there for 10 months. She loved the lodge and I made sure we walked by Bomas just so we could smell the food starting to cook. Now I had really been wanting to check out the new Gaylord Hotel that had recently opened right off of property. I had watched it being built when I worked there and I was wanting to see it. Plus the biggest Gaylord Hotel is about an hour from where I live, it is in Nashville TN and is called The Gaylord Opry Land Hotel. Its one very cool place to visit so I had been wondering how the new one was in Orlando. Laura and I were amazed at how nice it was. It had a South Florida Atmosphere to it. They even had a big sailboat on water that was a bar and restaurant. It was a very nice hotel and the restaurants looked very tasty.
Having done some hotel touring we decided to find some food. I had been telling Laura all of my hotel facts and had mentioned that the Port Orleans Riverside food court was the best food court of all of the hotels. So we ventured over there and ate some tasty food. She loved their red beans and rice. Now Laura used to work fast pass and part of their job was to maintain crowd control at the Showcase Pavilion for Illuminations. So we again strolled over to Epcot from my secret parking place. We went and rode Test Track for the second time. Then went over to Norway and rode Malastrom (sp?). By now it was time to get ready for Illuminations. We joined all of the other guests at the Showcase Pavilion and waited for them to open up the ropes for the seating section. We got great seats and loved the show. Laura has seen the show many times more than me, but she still enjoyed it as much as I did. We now headed home to get ready for what I had been waiting for all week, Pleasure Island. I love dancing and where I live now there is no place to go dancing. So I was ready to get out on the dance floor and shake it! As a CM you get in PI on Monday and Thursday nights for free. So since it was Thursday, it was very crowded. I had a blast, Laura and I danced all night. We closed the place down and headed home. It was sad to say goodbye to Laura, shes so cool and fun to hang around with. I miss the program and the whole Disney experience really bad now. That night I got to bed around 3 and woke up at 8:30 the next morning. The drive home was dull and longer than the drive down but I made it home nice and safe!
Recap: They need to bring the South Africans back to the Safari at Animal Kingdom. Port Orleans Riverside has the #1 food court on property, hands down! Illuminations is the best way to end the day at Disney. I love PI and I miss going dancing there really bad. All in all it was a fun but a very tiring trip. I stayed right on budget at 80 bucks; I actually came home with 3 dollars! The drive down was fun as usual but the drive home was awful!
Hope everyone enjoyed my reports.
