I was wondering if anyone has gone on this post-hurricane. I know a lot of the reefs were damaged around cozumel and didn't know if this was worh doing. I was thinking of doing the semi-sub in Grand Cayman but now we are doing the Reefs, Rays, and Rumpoint tour through Nativeway so there won't time in Grand Cayman. The Submarine is a lot more money than the semi-sub and I don't even know if the semi-sub is available in Cozumel.

We did the semi-sub on our 3/11/06 cruise. The GK's really enjoyed it. We really wanted to to do the Atlantis Deep Explorer but have not heard if it ever reopened. Website says it is still not operating.

Semi-Sub website is: http://www2.atlantisadventures.com/index.cfm

My DS (8) and I went on the Atlantis Sub in Cozumel last July. It was disappointing. We saw some fish and a sea turtle but the coral was nothing much to see. I would not recommend it. DS would have been happier with a beach day.

We did the island tour and stingray city with Nativeway- they were terrific, you'll be happy with them.

I agree with noahsmom. I took our DS10 on the Atlantis excursion just last month and we were both disappointed with it. The water was a murky and there wasn't much to see as far as coral or sea life.

We should've gone to Paradise Beach instead. Oh well. :confused3

Thanks for the feedback. Doesn't seem worth the money. Now I just have to decide between dolphin encounter or relax on Paradise Beach. Heard great things about it but there will be 7 ships in port that day and I am afraid it will be very crowded. We will still check it out.

We Doubled Dipped in September 2006 and we love loved loved this excursion! The water was clear and we saw sharks (3 of them) and we saw other divers (that was a scream, getting pictures of them getting pictures of us) and we saw yellow jacks or whatever those yellowish white fish are...and tons of neon blueish fish. I don't want to sway you now that you seemed to have made up your mind, but we went and we had a blast. I must also add we did the Dolphin excursion also and as our family was the only one there with the trainer and "ariel" the dolphin, that was a blast, too.

May I just point out the OP was talking about Grand Cayman and the ones that did not enjoy the excusion mentioned Cozumel.

Seems to me that the title of the OP and the final sentence in the OP are directed to Atlantis Cozumel. :confused3

Our family enjoyed the sub excursion in Cozumel. We went in 11/06 and it submerged to 109ft. Since I have an inner ear issue, scuba diving is not an option for me. I loved seeing the sea life - sea turtle, shark, MANY types of fish and brain coral- very clear water. A note though, the sub is not allowed to use external spot lights because the reef is a "preserve." Once you are that deep the main colors of the spectrum that your eyes can see are blue and green (the vibrant colors are present, but you can only see them if they are illuminated by an external light).
