Atlantis Submarine and general port Q

We are trying to decide on excursions and I noticed there is an Atlantis submarine excursion for both Cozumel and Grand Cayman. Is one recommended over the other?

Also, I noticed some of the excursion are short, like 2 hours or so, and others are 7 hours long. What does one do after their excursion is done, if it's a short one? Is there a beach nearby (in cozumel and cayman) or do ppl just go back on the boat. What else is there to do?

ATLANTIS is a pretty big company now so I'd expect the trips to be very similar. Cayman in general is $$$ for anything so I'd compare prices .... COZ may be less but I haven't looked. If the price is the same the trip is similar so the decision for me would be what else do I plan to do .....

with extra time some go to the beach .. there are nice beaches in both COZ and CAY. Others shop ... CAY is known for higher end shopping (don't expect bargain stuff but if you are looking for a Rolex and know your prices you might do well) ... and some just go to the back to the ship. We usually try to leave some time to libate on the island finding a nice water side bar.

Note that the length of the excursion sometimes has to do with travel time. A visit to Tulum ruins is 7 plus hours ... with over 2 hours of travel each way as part of the trip!
