Atlantis/Comfort Suites Day Pass Questions

My TA booked me a "day room" for our cruise in December. It was 253.00. I will be responsible for gratuity when I leave as it was not included in our rate. We will have full access to "Atlantis" including the dig, aquarium, and waterslides. We can check in when we arrive but have to be out by 6:00. It is going to work out great for us. There is a 48 hour cancellation notice and not sure if trip insurance would cover that loss if it rained. It is worth the risk for me because I think my children are too young to experience Nassau yet.

I emailed Atlantis today:

Subject: day pass? [ConversationID: 468d0d10-6493-45bc-8bab-179e0ecaaec0]

> Hi. I was wondering if Atlantis offers a day-use pass or has day-rooms
available for Cruise Ship tourists, and if so, what are the rates, restrictions,
etc. associated with day-use of the Atlantis resort.
>
> Thanks,

and here is the response I got back:

These are some things I found out about "Day rooms" at Atlantis a couple years back.

1. As far as I know you can NOT book a day room ahead of time...they are a first come first serve sort of thing...always have been. They only have a limited number and will NOT book ahead of time.

From the sound of it....your TA may have booked you a regular room at the resort. The day rooms didn't have a cancelation policy (because of the base rule of no pre-booking)...but there is a 48hr cancelation policy for a regular reservation..Plus the cost is about what you could book a one night stay in parts of the resort. Of course they could have totally changed there policy....but IMO it's highly unlikey to have them change that much. Of course...booking a day room and a regular nights room really makes no diffrence except with booking a "regular nights stay" your guarenteed to get your room and use everything at atlantis..while waiting and trying for the "day room" your risking not getting to do it at all... (I guess cost is another item that could differ between the two...our day room was $150 with all the taxes, fees, and surcharges)..

2. We found they do NOT like to acknowledge the day room at all. When we booked ours...we were told by three diffrent lobbies in the resort that there was NO such thing as a day room. (If you don't know the lay out of Atlantis...it's made up of a few diffrent towers with a lobby/desk at each tower). Anyhow when we arrived we went straight to the lobby at the main entrance....Ask about a day room...and he said there was no such thing. Of course I argued a little with him...because I'd head SOO much about them from here on the boards...He then directed me to another lobby to ask there. Same thing happened at the next stop...until finally someone said they thought they were sold out of day room...but lucky for us they were able to find one in yet another tower. :confused3 Any how....reguarding the e-mail message that was recieved...IMO I wouldn't take that as 100% concret.

3. I guess if they did start a day pass they may not be doing the day rooms...I too would be intrested to hear of anyone who's done a "Pass" at Atlantis.

I checked with my TA and it is a regular room. I still fell like I am getting my monies worth. IMO it is worth it. I have already paid for it and got a reciept. I got it out and actually it was only $230.00. I will have to pay an extra forty dollars for gratuity. ($10.00 per person) I believe $270.00 is a small price to pay for a great time. That is opposed to the experience I had at Nassau in June. I have young children and TA suggested this and we loved it. Also, my DD had watched a mary kate and ashley video with Atlantis in it and has had a desire to go every since. The straw market is full of touchy feely people wanting to braid your hair . The streets are full of people wanting to sell you something. I realize they have to make a living......just not what I feel like a 11 and 9 year old need to be subjected to. I hope that whoever needed an answer has gotten it. Have a great trip!

I too think you will have a blast...and it IS well worth the money spent...at least that's my opnion. When we went our girls were 6&11 and they LOVED every min of it. My 6yo was limited some on what she could do because of the height restrictions. Now that they're older (and taller) we'd do it again in a heart beat. And by having it pre-booked you don't have to deal with or worry about not getting a room when you get there.

I don't recall when your crusing...but if you've still got a little time I'd keep an eye out at places like travezoo...I've seen room for Atlantis as low as $99/night. Not that would be a DEAL :thumbsup2

Hopefully my saying you can't book a day room ahead of time didn't come across the wrong way...I was mearly just stating some facts I 'knew' to be true a while back. :goodvibes

How far is Atlantis from the ship and how do you get there/and how much?

I found a room in the Beach Tower for 207.00 a night. Any suggestions on which tower is best to book (for a family)?

If your going just for the day...I don't think it really matters what tower your in...It's not like you'll be in your room much at all.

Just take a taxi to Pardise Island. I want to say it's about $5 pp....not to far at all...maybe 15min. There is a toll to go over the bridge to Pardise Island....I don't think that was included in our cab fare. We stumbled upon a taxi limo...he charged us $25 for the ride there...not to bad considering it was just our family (4 of us) and it would have been at least $20 for the four of us to take a regular taxi WITH other families. (they stuff you in mini vans with as many other people as possable. :guilty: Silly me...I thought we'd save some money by just grabing a regular taxi back to the ship...That's when I realized it was about $5pp..and we had to share the taxi with others. I should have taken our limo taxi driver up on his offer to give him a call when we were ready to be picked up.

OH....I should also say I think there's a water taxi also...that'll take you there. I have NO idea how much that is nor how long it takes.

OH....and another thing just beware...the cab drivers and well...all drivers there drive CRAZY...not to fast just crazy :p

We took a "taxi mini van" to Atlantis in June and the "water taxi" on the way back. The water taxi is $4.00 a person. I preferred the "water taxi" just because you got to see some famous peoples houses. Not to mention, it wasnt near as dirty as the van. You do have to walk about 5 minutes maybe 10.........not a hard walk as opposed to a van picking you up at the front door.

A funny little story from June in Nassau. We took the taxi to Atlantis and there was a teenage boy in the taxi also. The taxi driver almost missed the guys stop and he spoke up. The taxi slammed on his brakes (while we managed to stay in our seats and not go through the windshield) in the middle of an intersection (like a four way) and told the guy to get out. He said right here? The driver was like.."unless you want to go to Atlantis" He got out. Bless his heart. I wondered later on in the afternoon if his was brave enough to do it again!!!!!

Just inquiring if anyone has recently gotten the "Day Room" at Atlantis, or what rate and from where if you booked a night ahead of time. Thank you much.

We called them this past weekend to check on a day room during our April 4 day. Granted, the date is probably still in high season (4/16), but they said "we don't sell day rooms" and the cheapest nightly rate was over $400. They did say we could check in as early as 7:00am, but that's a lot of money for a roughly 8 hour day. The Comfort Suites also said "no day rooms".

We're in the same predicament. We're sailing the 4-day Wonder the first week in April and want to take our kids (8 and 11) to Atlantis. We were there about 6 years ago when the kids were 2 and 5 and had a blast. Now that they're older and can do most of the slides we'd like to take this opportunity to go again. Problem is: cost! Spring Break is high season for Atlantis and the Comfort Suites website shows no availability at all for April 2nd. Help!! What are our options??

I dont know if this will help yall out any but we just got back last week. When I originally booked it was in the neighborhood of $250.00 and they didnt call it a day room. However, travelzoo.com later ran a special for $130.00 gratuities included. I got a refund and all was swell for us on our trip. When you book they dont call it a day room, but just let them know you are on a cruise and what you want it for. They are very cooperative. If you get a uncooperatie person tell them bye and call back it can make all the difference in the world. Good luck and have a great time.

Hi Minnie,

I assume you booked ahead of time since you could check Travelzoo, or did you call the same day?

I'm trying to work this out as a surprise for our family of 15.

Thank you,
Michelle

I found you cannot not book a day room at the Atlantis ahead of time. You need to check the day you arrive in port. You need to call (which can be expensive) or go over and check at the front desk. Cab ride $4.00 per person each way.
In the past we have gotten a regualr room at the Comfort Suties. You book it for the night of the day of your arrival. You can head over there right from the ship and get the pass to go over to the Atlantis. The room probably won't be ready but you can use the pools and slides.
I have done twice once in December which was great no lines at the slide plenty of chairs. I also did it in April which was a different story. There were no chairs anywhere and the lines were so long at the slides it was disappointing. Keep in mind the Atlantis under undergoing a huge construction project.

Ummm.... Since we're cruising first week in April 07 and this is our first Disney cruise, staying on the ship while in Port at the Bahamas is looking better and better! Thanks for the info about April.

I booked way early for those who asked. However I can see the point of it being busy in April. The construction didnt affect our experience. It is going to be so cool when they are finished. I am a general contractor so I enjoyed a sneek peek what little bit we could see. Good luck to everyone. We totally had a great time.
