Atlantis/Comfort Suites Day Pass Questions

Thanks guys! I think I have read that people have brought coolers before...that is what we plan to do...primarily for soda/water, but maybe also a sandwich or something.

I did mention it on my roll call, and there is some interest. So, we'll see. Sharing the expense of the 2nd room is a good idea. Thanks.

. You may want to check about the five person per room first...I thought it was four to a room...but I could be wrong. That would be a way for you to get all the braclets you need and a lower cost than renting two rooms...and the other group would get a "discount" on their room as a perk.

They only allow 5 when you get a "day room" not reserve a room at regular rate ahead of time. We have done this now twice and we're a family of 5. I spoke directly with Atlantis both times and spoke with them again while there to find out why I can't simply pay more and book my room ahead of time since I can have the 5 of us in the day room anyway. They won't do this as they're afraid that people will start doing this and actually staying there with 5 people is what I was told. It did cost us $250 for our day room in the Royal Towers both times we've done this.

I agree about the food, it's terrible. We've only eaten out by the pool, but the service is slow, the food mediocore and expensive.

Good to know about the 5 people per day room. We only had the 4 of us so we never asked....I guess we got a super deal at $150 for our day room...that was in Sept and right in the middle of all the hurricanes...so maybe they were wanting the additional business?? Who knows...It could have been who we talked with also. It was quite strange when we went to get out day room...or should I say ask about getting one. We got the run around BAD. The front desk lobby as you enter told us they don't do day rooms...then they said they didn't have any for the day...but we should try the other tower....so we headed down to the Royal tower lobby and asked there...we got close to the same resopnce there...and were directed back to the main lobby...then back to the Royal tower lobby where finally a gal steped up and said she would see what she could do....She then left for a very long time...I was starting to think she wasn't comming back...when out of nowhere she asked us to come over to yet another lobby where she found us a room in the Coral tower. YEA !!! It wasn't until we were just about checked in I thought to ask just how much was it going to be....When she said $150 I was a bit suprised...but happy.

Once we got home and I double checked how much the total with taxes and fees was...I was even more suprised to see it was $150 flat.

For sure pack the cooler along with atleast water and drinks....and try to squeeze in some snacks or sandwhiches....I think you'll be glad you did. The food is WAY $$$$.

They told us that off season it's $150 for the Coral Tower and $200 for the Royal Tower and during the "season" it's $50 more, that's why we were higher, both were during the height of the season.
You're lucky, ours wasn't a flat fee, we got hit with the taxes, cleaning fees, and electricity charge!

Hi--just wanted to throw in another opinion on this. I think you have to decide what your family really likes to do in order to make this day fun. The time it takes to travel, check in, etc. takes up a lot of time. We just went in October, and did the DCL excursion to Atlantis (the Atlantis beach day). The rooms were all booked for that weekend (we tried to call before, not just walk up) and at first were very disappointed b/c we wanted the waterslides, etc. However, as it turned out, I don't think we would've had time to enjoy them as much as we'd like.

Do your kids like the ocean? Ours love it, so they loved the clear water and we had our own beach chairs and towels set up for us (included in the excursion). By the time we got to the beach, it was 10:30 (the excursion meets at 9:15--don't forget to factor in all the travel time). We swam about 2 hours and the kids were hungry. We went to eat with our coupons included in the excursion (choice of outdoor restaurants--burgers, fries, etc.) and by the time we finished getting our food and eating it was at least 1:30 or 2:00. We then went through the Dig (underground acquarium -- awesome!) which was also included in the excursion. This lasted until 3:00 or 3:30 and we hiked it back to the taxi area (it takes a LONG time to walk around this resort!) . The boat now leaves Nassau at 5:00 PM (that's what it was on ours even though paperwork says 11--we were told they were changing that time permanently so they could get ready for the sail-away party --so you may want to make sure you are really going to be that late) so we had to go back anyway. We really enjoyed our day!

My point is, if your kids don't like salt water and only like pools, then maybe it is worth it for you to get a room. But if they like to just play and swim at a beach, it might be worth it to you to just do that. The whole day can easily slip by just going to the beach, and I would've been upset if I had spent that much money and didn't get to stay long. Just another side---

BTW, wave runners are offered and they were $30 for 15 minutes. (Also banana boats and jet skis--could probably get a better deal if you want to haggle!)

HTH!

I'm learning a lot from this thread. Three questions:

-I cannot find a phone number for Atlantis Hotel. How did you find it?

-why choose Atlantis over Comfort?

- Does Comfort also offer day rates that you have to wait until that day?

We have six people going with us, but two do not swim. Any suggestions??

If you do a search for the Atlantis you'll find there site and phone number.

The Atlantis offers the day rates if they're available, the Comfort Suites do not. The Atlantis will allow up to 5 people in the "day room" while the Comfort Suites doesn't have this program and therefore you can only book a room the "traditional" way and have 4 people.

No matter how you work it, you will still have to get 2 rooms. I didn't swim but still needed the wristband to walk around the pool area and sit on the lounge chairs all day.

I just wanted to reply back...on the time issue...while jacobatt1 makes some very good points...it really depends on what your plans are and how you go about getting there to avoid delays. It sounds as if your family was on a DCL excursion...therefore on Disneys timeline. While everyone will need to be back to the ship in time for the sail-a-way...it dosn't mean you have to take Disneys transportation to get to Atlantis or the Beaches. We simply took a taxi and got there within min....And by getting a room...you don't have to take the "tour" at the dig...you can go on your own...taking it as quick or as long as you wish. We to had to be back to the ship by 5ish...which was a bummer (our stop in Nassau was unplanned..I was thinking that was the reason for our early departure...but Looks as if DCL is just changing their sail off time)

As for the beaches...When doing the DCL Atlantis beach day excrusion...do you get to use the Atlantis private beach??? Or is it the public beach behind Atlantis? We went to the public beach before checking on getting a day room...and we were VERY disapointed in the beach quality...the waves were hard...and the water was DEEP. No way could our kids play in it. (That's what prompted us to get the day room at Atlantis)...also when doing that excrusion is the "dig" included?...and what about your lunch...was that included also?

Although we could have spent ALOT more time at the slides and other activites at Atlantis....I'm glad we went with the day room. I did feel a little rushed at times...But I think that's mainly because there was just soooo much to do there...We never made it out to the Private beach...nor to use the paddle boats or water bikes (those big three wheeler paddle things).

Hi scrapperjill! Yes, we were on a Disney excursion, and you're right, you are on a Disney timeline that way. I'm sure you could get there earlier if you went on your own. Whenever there's an excursion, you do always wait while they go through everything! I guess I was just surprised b/c we had to meet at 9:15 and that seemed to be one of the earliest excursions, and we still got there at 10:30 or so. We actually liked the excursion, but I just wanted to make a point about how things take a little longer than you think!

We did use the private beach, chairs and towels included, and the Dig admission was also included. Also, a coupon for lunch is included. The ocean does have a really strong undertow, but the waves weren't real strong on the day we went. But we just wanted our kids to experience the "Carribean" and I can understand it might not be the best beach, esp. for little kids. Others might really like the pools better--and people might rather skip the aquarium and swim all day! I agree with you, there are just toooooo many good choices!!! :earboy2:

Thanks for the info, I think we may look into this or going to a hotel in Cable Beach, dh really wants to see the Atlantis casinos though so we will have to see.

Great info thanks alot!!:D

jacobatt1..I have been curious on how the private Atlantis beach compaired to the public beach near by....It looked like the private beach was more protected...in like a bay area...I could be wrong..We never made it out to the Atlantis beach. I just know we were so excited to have some beach time in the Bahamas...and imagined a nice slow sloped beach...where you could walk out forever and still be only knee high...so we were just VERY surprised when we took two steps in and were over waste deep...no joking. The DCL excrusion dosn't sound to bad if the dig and lunch was included. I know our lunch at Atlantis was $$$...and I also thought admission to the dig was pricy.

I have heard the beaches at Cable beach were nice.

jacobatt1, What was the cost of the Disney excursion? Just wondering if it would end up being the same as a day room for $150/5 = $30pp.

In addition to the # of people in CS versus Atlantis, I think the difference is check in time at CS is 3:00pm, so if you want the room, you may not be able to get it until then if one isn't ready when you check in. They will check you in early (or so I've read and heard) so you can go straight to Atlantis and get your wristbands. I've even heard some people never even went to their room at CS. At Atlantis, a day room is exactly that. You get use of the room all day starting when you check in until 6pm I think. If you want to drop off clean clothes,etc...that is the nice part about just being at the Atlantis.

I'm curious about the port time. Right now our itinerary says we arrive 9:30 am and depart 10:30 pm. If we leave at 5pm, this may not be worth the $. I sure hope it doesn't permanently change! I'll have to ask my TA before I decide anything for sure.

Hi vossjemi--

Our excursion was $60 adult/$45 kids (3-9) so for us it was about $210. That includes admission to the Dig (aquarium) and a coupon for lunch at a burger-type place, as well as the private beach.

I can understand wanting to get a day room--it would be very fun to ride all the slides, etc.; they look very cool! I'm not trying to talk you out of that, and it looks like the excursion would be more $ for you. But I just wanted to speak about the time limitations so that you feel you get your money's worth. Scrapperjill pointed out that you could get there earlier than we did if you did it on your own--just make sure what time the all-ashore is.

As to departure times, when we booked, our time was supposed to be 11:00 pm leaving Nassau. About the time we got our docs (or maybe a little before that, but still close to the time of the cruise) we got a letter stating that the time would be 5:00 pm in order for them to get ready for the deck party. On the cruise, we were told that they may make that a permanent change, and I have noticed some of the trip reports have it leaving Nassau that early too. I bet your TA does have info on that--just wanted to make sure you get all the time you want!!

Good luck with your decisions; I'm sure you'll have a great time!

We went back in Sept 04...and we also left early. I'm not sure if they were doing it before them or not. But we had to get out of the area because Hurrican Jeanne was on her way. I just thought they were keeping us infront of the storm by leaving port earler....but it's sounding like they've made it more of a permenate change. I also heard some place on these boards...that DCL was leving Key West earler...but that's a whole diffrent issue...

Just wanted to bring this thread back to life... Anyone have any new comments to share? We would love to hear them! :wizard:

I ended up using the $99 Travelzoo deal this past sept and it worked out great. Atlantis even let me change my date when we got to the pier at cape canaveral because our itinerary had changed. No add'l charge! We'd highly recommend getting a room here or at comfort suites as we were able to use/do everything. Kids loved the ripples kiddie pool/slides and DH & I took turns with the mayan water slide. Great fun! We brought a soft sided cooler full of driniks/snacks and brought around w/us no probs! Even went back to room and showered before returning to ship. Nice!

I'm still trying to decide what to do for our Magic cruise that is now going to Nassau. We want to go to the Pirate Museum and do a little shopping in the morning. Would it be worth getting a room at the Atlantis and going over there for the afternoon, or is that not enough time to be worth going? We don't know yet what time we will have to be back on the ship, but since we're only going to CC the next day I suspect we'll be in Nassau pretty late. I don't know if it is worth paying all that money to not go over there until after lunch. We are mostly just interested in the Dig and the beach.

Has anyone booked a day room recently? I was wondering about the cost and how long you had the room for. Doing a 3 day in November and this sounded like a great way to spend the day. Any other current info/suggestions anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

I was in Nassau a couple of weeks ago and toured Atlantis. I asked our Tour Guide about day rooms and he said they don't have day rooms any more but that you can still get a day pass - $250 for the day (which made me LOL because that was more than I paid for my 4-night carnival cruise that took me to Nassau). I don't know how accurate his information is, so perhaps someone who has done a day-pass could tell you for sure.

I just looked at the Atlantis website and you could probably email them at reservations@atlantis.com and ask about it.

A visit to Atlantis really sounds like fun. It would be great to use the pools, etc. I wonder if the Day Pass for $250 is for a family of 5. That would be worthwhile to go on the slides and enjoy the different pools. Thanks for the discussion on this topic.
