Glad to have you here! Hey did you LOVE the Rita tribute or what! And how about my boys-Hot Toddy winning in the blues category! Way to go guys! :cheer2: :cheer2:

:cool1:

My Dh, and 3 boys ages 12 and twins 9 will be driving in August 05, yes i said Driving, Yuck, I really want to fly but we just can't swing it with a family of 5, we have 3 free nights at Best Westerns so the cost is reduced driving down if we use those.

Has anyone ever driven down? We would like to stop at least once both ways to visit some place and take a big break from the driving, maybe Washington to see the Smithsonian which is free. We are just starting to plan so if anyone has any ideas...

Oh by the way, I love snow days, I work for the school district so I get to sleep in too!!!!

:grouphug:

Yes, we drove in December from Greenwood, Nova Scotia. It was long, but fun. We made sure we had DVD's for the kid to watch, plus several travel games, discmen and CD's for them, and even took the XBOX.LOL We were taking no chances. :rotfl: We stopped probably more than we needed....but we visited people on the way. We stopped first in New Hampshire, then in Fredericksburg, VA, then Parris Island, South Carolina (to visit BIL and family). The kids had fun seeing the difference between winter and gradually going to warm weather.

You'll have a blast!!!

How long did you take to drive? Our problem is we like to be in Fla for close to three weeks...so add on a few days driving..and we're looking at a month away. Dh gets lots of vacation time...but a month would really be stretching it.

We have talked about me driving with the kids, and DH flying down...but he doesn't want to miss the fun ( we have a ball on our road trips LOL!!)

Another Maritimer wishing they were @ WDW (or anywhere warmer :cool1: )! We in Truro NS. No trip in the works, maybe next year if the wallet is willing!

In the meantime, you can hang out with us on the DIS,while trying to avoid the reality of another Nova Scotia winter!

Have fun,

Kirsten in the Annapolis Valley! :Pinkbounc :hourglass

hey there fellow nova scotians...........another snow day here on the south shore, lost count of how many days kids have lost due to snow.......i know one thing, when we go to DW next week, i won't be missing this white stuff........... :cheer2:

Hi! :wave2: There's quite a few of us Maritimers here on the DIS :cool1: Were in Halifax and the snow today was yucky!! Just enough to make everything a mess . . .can't wait to feel that sun!

Hi Atlantic Canadians! I'm not Canadian, but I went to UNB Fredericton for 4 years (1986 - 1990), and spent 3 summers in Halifax studying to be a CA. PEI also holds a place in my heart because I have good friends there, I spent many a Xmas, Thanksgiving, Spring Break etc. there, and wrote my CA finals there in Sep 1994. I haven't been back since 1994 and I really miss it! One day I will bring my kids and show them my old stomping grounds!

Just wantd to say "hi".

:cool1: Welcome Coco in Barbados. You're lucky you're not in Nova Scotia now unless you love snow,we've certainly had our share this year! :guilty: :cold:
And,there's a blizzard warning in effect for tonite, and looks like snow in the forecast,so it could be storm day #8 in the Annapolis Valley! The joys of winter.......
Enjoy your weather in Barbados,a beautiful island!
And all Maritimers, don't put away those shovels yet!
Have fun,
Kirsten :rolleyes1 :teacher: :mickeybar

I know you are all going to smack me with snow balls but I really hope it storms tomorrow. It looks like I might get my wish. You see, I'm on vacation this week except for this one meeting tomorrow. I would really like it to be cancelled. So, I'm praying for a snow day! :)

Ali

Thanks for the welcome, Kirsten! Snow is fun, but only for a little while LOL! I didn't mind it while I was in Canada because it was still a novelty at that stage. And I didn't have a car to dig out of my driveway :teeth: I remember snow days - we all celebrated having no classes that day! Hope the storm doesn't inconvenience you too much.

And right now it's a balmy 25 degrees in Barbados (ducking flying snowballs :duck: )

:cool1: Well,Coco in Barbardos,we got quite a bit of snow on Friday, but school wasn't cancelled because they'd downgraded the storm :guilty: ,then once we got to school,it snowed all day :cold:
So,that was the end of that snow day possibility. pirate:
Now,I've heard rumor that Tuesday could be a possibility,so I'll keep my fingers crossed.! :cool1: Maybe Happychickali wants a snow day for Tuesday too!
Have a great week, everyone, even if you're stuck in Barbados with all that great weather!
Kirsten  :moped:
