Okay, icy mix has turned to snow in Augusta.

Be careful out there Atlanta. According to reports there is Convective snow and in cloud AND cloud to ground lightening! Convective snow is like a summer storm, except instead of a downpour, it's snowing. They are saying 1" per hour at least in some areas.

At 9:56pm est someone posted that I-75S is at a stop and that he has gone 3 miles in the last hour.

A traffic cam for 10:18 pm est 75/85 @ Pryor ST NW shows traffic at pretty much a full stop.

Looking at the radar there is still quite a bit more to come as well. I would suggest buckling down for the night and don't go anywhere. If you have family somewhere, tell them to get someplace where they can stay that is as close to them as possible cause traffic and roads look horrible.

It has been near white out conditions here, in Atlanta, since 9. Easily 3 inches have fallen already.

Thank goodness the kids are already asleep, because they won't have to see me HURT MY HUSBAND if the snow doesn't start soon!!

Wow. I have never seen reports of traffic moving so slowly....here's a local traffic map. If you hover over the raods/colors, it shows estimated speeds. Hopefully, peopel are slowing down and using their heads when driving.

Did you look at some of the camera images? You have people sideways on the shoulder, slid marks on the shoulders in some, ect.

Just best not to be out there if you can.

It's pure white outside my house, really beautiful. Of course the schools are closed and we were told not to come in if it's bad...and it is bad.

We got about 5" of snow (Grayson). Beautiful and so peaceful in our neighborhood.

The silence is now being broken by the sound of freezing rain hitting the snow! Here comes our "ice event"!!

One of my girlfriends lives in downtown Atlanta, you can see GA 400 from her high rise, she posted pics , so strange to not see one single car on the road!

I just tried to download my pics from my camera but the USB port on my computer isn't working. Uh-oh.

Guess I'll try an uninstall, reboot computer and see if that fixes the problem. Stupid computer.

The dog wasn't sure what to make of the snow. I think it's just wrong to have snow in Georgia. But the kids are very happy. One person in my little neighborhood has gone out on the road. I think I know who it is since she has a 4 wheel drive but I have no idea where she would be going since everything is closed.

The icy rain hasn't started yet in my area thank goodness.

Yippee! there's about 5" ofo snow at my house, expecting another inch or two today. There is an actual SNOW DRIFT in my front yard, covering up my azaleas. There is something so wrong about that sentence.

We live on one of our county's main roads, and although it's been plowed and treated several times, it's still solid white. Up here in the foothills, we may be dealing with this for a while. We've had our big breakfast, I've got beef stew in the crockpot. . .now it's time to head outside!!

mmm, stew...I think I'm gonna have vegetable beef soup for lunch.

I need to get in touch with DS24. He had to close at work last night(Publix) and I'm sure he didn't go home until the very last gallon of milk was gone. I hope he got back to his apt okay. We invited him to come here and get snowed in with us, but he didn't take us up on it. I just hope he's safe and warm.

i'm in NE alabama, and my ruler says we got 3 inches of snow. not the soft, fluffy snow, but hard, frozen snow. we're all hibernating, lol. hope DH doesn't have to go in to work this afternoon! our local EMA says roads are closed, but state DOT lists them as impassable, so unless the state closes them at some point today, he has to go in.

We have 8 inches and counting right now. My old employer just call ask can I come to work. Is she crazy. I told here no. I am off from new job because of snow and staying home.
