ATA Vouchers?

Has anyone had any experience with ATA in the past providing vouchers to you if your air fare comes down in price before your trip? I'm getting a bit skittish of letting the air fare go much longer as I already lost a good fare on my preferred return flight time.

We fly ATA out of IND often and have received vouchers when the price has gotten lower. At one time ATA didn't give vouchers, but started doing so a couple of years ago.

I've asked a couple of times, but there is sometimes a catch to the voucher business. The issue I've encountered is the difference between the best fares available from the ATA web site and the fares available when you call the airline. Frequently the web fare is lower but the best fare showing up for the agent I talk to always seems to be higher, typically about the same as the fare I already have (purchased on the web). As a result, I have yet to actually qualify for a voucher to be used as a credit for future travel.

Another issue is that when you want to apply the voucher you may have to call the airline again. Can you apply the voucher to a (lower) web-only fare?

You bring up a good point. I don't believe there's any way to put a voucher number in for web fares. I'm wondering how that would work. After securing your tickets online, could you just call back into the reservation line, and have them credit your card for voucher amount?

I belong to Ambassadair, which is a travel club affiliated with ATA. Since I am a member of their travel club, I get a discount on every ATA flight taken to and from IND and have to make reservations over the phone. I have gotten discount vouchures by the phone, but don't know about online reservations.
