At what moment was your decision to join DVC confirmed as a good decision?

On my first trip to my home resort, we were staying in a studio at OKW, and while laying in bed on the first morning I was looking up and noticing the beautiful molding around the room and the high quality wooden blinds on the windows. I remember thinking "This room is REALLY nice". That was the moment my decision to join was confirmed as the right decision.

I just thought of another moment. When we checked in for the first time as a DVC member and realized that we had a zero balance and that the hotel portion of our trip was paid with points. That was a great feeling.

How bout you?

Our first visit was in a Grand Villa at OKW, my sister had us down in 97. After seeing that we were convinced. Now 4 members of our family are DVC members.

THE DAY WE JOINED!!!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Really, since the day we joined way back in 1993 we have never looked back. We have been very happy with our decision throughout the years! :)

We were eating lunch at Shutter's just after out 1st purchase and a very nice family at an adjacent table overheard us talking to a CM
and wished us a big "Welcome Home".That's what DVC is all about.:)

The first night we checked in. We had bought in Jan of 2000 and December of 2000 checked in to a one bedroom at Boardwalk (our home). DH was on one balcony talking on the phone to the folks at home while I was on the other balcony looking at everyone walking on the boardwalk. In the distance was the giant Epcot ball with the big 2000 over it. Knowing we'd be doing this for the next 42 years was a great feeling.

Our only regret - we didn't do it sooner!

We were staying at the Dolphin for an extended stay when we joined DVC. When we checked out and had a $2000+ hotel bill (which was a great deal in itself thanks to SwanDolphin), I realized that I'd never had another large hotel bill unless I chose to have one. After our first stay at VWL, we walked out of there with a bill of $184. And that's only because we charged meals back to the room! We LOVE DVC and w e have never regretted our decision.

I knew it was a good thing, when my sister, BIL and niece (1), went on my points and they came back ranting and raving about the service and it was "GOLD, Jerry GOLD"(Seinfeld reference). That really put my mind at ease since they were the first to use our points. We are making our first DVC trip in few weeks, and bringing my parents who haven't been to Disney since I was 9, and my MIL who hasn't been since '83. I think I am nuts  for bringing everyone, but I really want my parents to see my DS and DD reactions at WDW. It's a good thing my sis is now planning on getting her own DVC, I've been burning thru points like a madman.

When I was trying to talk friends out of joining and one of my arguments was that it was a better fit for someone like me than people like them...and that brought me up short.

I now have a fantastic combination of (almost) pre-paid vacations that I'm looking forward to having fun with.

At what moment did you realize that joining DVC was a good decision?

When BWV opened. The first time I saw BWV, I was totally wowed by the resort, the location, the villas etc., etc., I knew this was a great decision for me and bought my membership and have never regretted it!

I have always considered WDW my home away from home, as I have been there so many times....that said, as my DW and I approached the BWV for our scheduled DVC sales presentation and I drove past the "Welcome Home" sign, my heart began to sing and I started to tear up (I'm a bit of a sap!). It was then that I knew it was right for us. We have been proud DVC members ever since :)

I always thought it was a good idea from day one. I upgraded that to a terrifically great idea when we walked into our OKW 2 bedroom last Jaunuary and realized we would call that home for 12 days.

The nanosecond we walked into a 2 bedroom villa at OKW (that we paid cash for) We knew DVC was the perfect match for us!

I knew the very first time we set foot in our Old Key West 2br vacation home and my wife started to cry tears of happiness. And we haven't regretted our decision since that July day in 1995.

Like others, it was probably the moment we stepped into our studio at VWL last year. We would have never been able/or choosen to get those kind of accomodations without DVC.
Like others also, we only wish we had done it sooner, but we have years ahead of us to enjoy.

I knew DVC was right for my family when we walked into our 2 bedroom villa at Hilton Head (paying cash) and saw the look on my hubby's face. He does not share my love for Disney but was so impressed that he agreed to a purchase within our first 2 days at the resort. My only regret is that we did not initially purchase more points!

I always know it's a good purchase. But it really confirms when I stayed again in non-DVC Disney hotels again. AKL is a very nice hotel, but it's not BWV. Esp when I have to pay that bill.

I'm still trying to look for any downside of my DVC purchase.

I have to agree with smiley. The moment we walked into the model of the 1BR BWV, we knew DVC was for us, and we haven't regretted it for one second!

We knew we made a great decision when we signed the papers & moved into a DVC unit for our vacation!

When we went through the security gates at OKW and drove over a small bridge and to right was a fountain in the middle of the water I believe there were deep pink flowers in bloom - our DD 7y/o stated - "Oh MOM this is SOO BEAUTIFUL!" - thats the moment I knew DVC was for us!

To add, if I may, we were at ASmusic Dec 2001 when Pop Werner football players and Cheerleaders were also there and between the lack of supervision and loudness of the kids we decided to check out DVC and joined buying at VWL sight unseen and I will always thank Pop Werner for their part in our purchasing DVC;)

Like most everyone else, I will never forget opening our door to our 2 bdr villa at OKW and being totally blown away. I do have to say that we already knew it was a good decision before that as we even added on before we took our first trip as DVC'ers. We had originally bought in May 2000 and they announced the BWV was almost sold out, so we bought another 70 points before we had our first trip. We actually got a CM discount with those 70, as my DH took a part time job at the local TDS. We have since added on again at the BCV. It is truly addictive.
