At what age did your kids stop napping?

We have two sons who are currently 3 and 4, but will be 4 and 5 in September and October and I was just wondering at what age did your kids stop napping?
I have friends who have children of the same age and their kids just stopped napping. Mine have not and I was wondering at what age this comes about. I figure that as soon as they are having full day school that they will most likely stop. But this year the oldest will be in Pre-K4 and the youngest in Pre-K3, and they will only be there for half a day.

My DD stopped napping at around 3; my DS stopped shortly there after at 20months. They are 16 months apart; now 3.5 and 4.75. They currently sleep 12 hours at night. So, they are wide awake for 12 and fast asleep for 12.

I have two boys as well. My oldest will be 5 in November. I still make him lay down everyday, and I would say 5 days a week he does fall asleep for an hour or so. My younger one just turned 2 and still needs a very solid 2+ hour nap each day. My BFF has a son 18 months older than mine, and he took a nap everyday until he started kindergarten.

Kindergarten here is all day and they take naps. My son is a napper and fell asleep every day even going to bed at 7:30 and up at 6. He was 6 1/2 at the end of K.

Corbin naps occasionally. This started at 2yrs. Curt is 20m and naps every day at least 1x.

My sons are 4 and 19 months, and they both still take naps. Kindergarten here is all day that includes naptime.

My oldest son was almost five and still taking solid two hour naps. He was headed off to K in a few months (half day), so I "broke" him of the naps because I didn't want him to be gone all morning, then come home and sleep away the afternoon. Unfortunately, that came back to bite me as my younger son - almost 3 - gave them up about two weeks later, as soon as he figured out the older one wasn't taking naps anymore!:scared1:

My DD was a horrible napper...and sleeper! She just never gives it a rest...literally:) My DS is 22 months and will be cranky if he doesnt get a short nap in, but since his big sis never let the light sleeper sleep he usually only falls asleep in the car on drives! He would have been a great napper if not for the noise and constant interuptions. DD was two and would also only fall asleep in the car as well. She is a major night owl to this day (is still up right now and refuses to go to her own bedroom - scared to sleep alone). I could never picture her sleeping at Kindergarten. I am glad it is only half day at ours. My kids were never in daycare so we had a more relaxed schedule. Not to say I never tried, but they just would not go down for a nap unless driven around in silence for a while and bordom got to them first. I have very active kids I guess! I on the other hand I could nap everyday :)

I asked Daycare to stop napping DS around 3.5 years unless he was really tired. He was staying up so late at night! He will have the occasional nap if we have an exciting day and go for a drive!

My DD never napped! and I mean never. My DS stopped about 2.

My kids really stopped napping somewhere between age 2-3 after that is was more of me just asking them to take a break and have quiet time. I can remember being told to nap as late as age 5, I remember the routine, come home from K-garden, eat lunch, take a nap. It just depends on the kids, some require more sleep or simply like mine will not give up the ghost during daylight.

We had to stop my son from napping when he started Kindergarten last August - right after he turned 5. He definitely still could have continued taking naps, no problem. And he often still falls asleep during the day on the weekends and in the car, etc., and he turns 6 next week. If he would just sleep in the morning, he'd probably be fine, but he wakes up at 6am or earlier no matter what.

My kids all stopped having scheduled naps around age 3.

HOWEVER if they were in the car, they would still fall asleep in their carseats, and if they laid down on the couch to watch PBS in the later afternoons, they would usually crash out there. I had to be really careful with this. It was hard because I assumed if they fell asleep they were tired and needed the rest, BUT if I let them sleep in the afternoons they would still be up and raring to go at 11 PM. So I had to keep them awake and let them be crabby to save all of our sanity at bedtime. They outgrew this issue by age 5 or so.

We have full-day kindy in our area, so I needed to be sure they no longer needed to nap by the time they started school. Kindy programs here have NO rest time built in; after lunch recess they sit at circle and read a story, then its back to work for the rest of the day.

My DD stopped around 5, and my DS (4) still naps for 2 hours. I'm pretty sure that will stop next year.

OP, BE THANKFULLY yours still do!!!

Mine stopped about the time the next one came along (2 1/4-2 1/2 years old).

Actually I don't know anyone from PreSchool who's still did after 3ish.

DD(4) stopped taking naps at 18 months
DS (2) will occassionally take a nap but pretty much hasn't taken a nap in the last 3 months.

Holly is 8 (9 in Nov) and actually napped until she was 4. After that she had to take a rest after lunch everyday so I could put Sammy down for a nap

Sammy is 4 (5 in Oct) he stopped napping last Fall. But he must take a rest everyday after lunch. Somedays he will fall asleep during the rest other days he just rest.

DD quit taking naps right around her 3rd birthday, maybe a little before. We actually had to prevent her from taking naps after that time, because at that point if she took a nap in the afternoon she would be wide awake and up until 11:00 p.m. at night. She's 3 1/2 now and if she falls asleep in the afternoon even for just 10-20 minutes, she will still be wide awake and going strong until 10:30 or 11.
