At what age did your kids start taking showers over baths?

Just wondering. Ds(5) really doesn't like to take showers yet especially because his little brother (5 1/2 months) is in the seat in the tub now so they take baths together. Sometimes I wish I could just get him to take a quick shower though!

18 months!!! That's the age my Ds is now. He'll still take baths, but he loves being under the running water, especially collecting it all in his little bucket. Of course I have to be in there with him, but it actually saves time and water.

Older dd was 6-7 and she started because the Doctor said it would be better for her ears. She felt she was getting alot of infections from the bath. It did help.

Younger dd is 7 and who knows with her?

DS8 has ALWAYS loved showers! Shortly after birth he was put on dialysis and couldn't have the catheter under sitting water. So I would hold him in the shower. At one point he got better and was off dialysis for about 5 years. He LOVED baths then--because he COULD take one!! He started taking showers by himself around 4. But he was used to it from little on.

Both DD and DS started taking showers at 7 years old.

DS started last summer at age 6. After seeing him do it, his 3 yo brother wanted to too. They do sometimes take baths still, but sometimes showers too.

I'm not sure of their exact age, but it was before my ds was 3 yo. He preferred the showers because the water didn't get in his ears to his tubes.

My dd was probably closer to 5 yo though. It took her awhile to realize the water wouldn't blind her if she'd close her eyes if she got close to the spray.

My girls do both. I don't know which they prefer. All I know is when Kelsea decides she wants a bath, be prepared to wait forever. She takes very long baths.

I can't remember, but I am going to guess it was right around when they started school (5-6).

Mine started taking showers around 5, right before they started kindergarten.

My boys LOVE showers. They never take baths anymore.
My boys were about 5-6 yo when they started.

DS now 10 still prefers baths, but he's in there forever. When time is short he will shower, but only for the past 2 years maybe? Maybe 3. It's still rare, he'll spend an hour in the tub if we let him.

My seven year old son likes to tak baths because he has all these little submarine, navy toys he plays with in there, my daughter that is 3 likes a shower because she likes to get her ponies wet and pretend it is raining in there, and my other 3 year old boy likes a bath because he just likes soaking in the water. He gets in the tub and just lays back in the water. So, I think it would really depend on what that particular child prefers.

He's in the tub right now washing his dinosaurs! He already took one last night! Oh well, at least he's clean! LOL

My older DS was about 8 or 9 when he really switched from taking baths to showers. He WILL NOT take a bath now - must not be manly enough for him at 13. My younger DS started taking showers at about age 4. But he switches from baths to showers depending on the mood he's in.

Sometimes I wish I could just get him to take a quick shower though!

That sounds like my son. He started taking showers about 3 years ago and now that is all he takes. When he was into baths, I swear the water would be ice cold and his body shriveled like a prune before I would have to yell him out. He is not much better with showers now. He uses all the hot water.
