At what age did you stop with Easter baskets for the kids?

Just curious- do your teens still get an Easter basket on Easter morning? Do they still enjoy coloring eggs? And what do you put in an Easter basket for a teen?

I stopped getting an Easter basket after my soph. year of high school. I got candy, a DVD, a CD, and some gift certificates to a restaurant my friends and I liked to visit.

My kids are 13 and almost 17. They still get a basket, but the contents have changed. They usually get a chocolate bunny since that is tradition. Other than that, they get snack foods, jewelry from our local Christian bookstore, fast food gift certificates, maybe a CD, etc. And we do still dye eggs together. They love making creative designs.

my mom still gives, me(13) my sister(17) and my brother(almost 19) easter baskets...it basically has candy and for my brother - gift certificates, money, or dvds. For me and my sister - jewelry, candy, money, gift certificates....sometimes clothes such as tennis dresses or skirts for my sister, and i have gotten basketball shorts.

similar to above posting we always got them as teens. my sisters and I always got the leggs eggs pantyhouse - became a running joke. also makeup was a big item and school stuff - pens/pencils etc. we would get some candy as well.

I still give my kids baskets....they are now 21 and 24....and I have to mail them to them. I also send baskets to DD's room mate and DS's girlfriend. :)
And make DH and myself baskets too

why would the Easter bunny stop coming just because we're getting older? Santa hasn't stopped coming either!!

My boys ages 11 & 13 still get them. They get a chocolate bunny and a few other treats, plus they each get a video game or equivalent of it.

I had started talking about stopping the easter baskets for my dd Ashli because she had gotten old enough in my opinion. My dh couldn't believe this so in the last couple of years he's taken over and Ashli has hit the mother lode, lol! David buys only the best chocolates and other candies for her basket. Stuff that costs a fortune and I'd never spend the money on. Ashli really likes it even though she doesn't even eat much candy because it's an obvious act of love from her daddy.

I was told that last year was my final year for a basket... I am 27. I got pretty much the same stuff (candy and all) as a teen and adult as I did as a kid :)

We still do Easter Baskets - DS is 20, DD is 17. DS just moved into his first apartment so he'll be getting a gift card for Target and some kitchen gadgets. DD just got her first car so some car items and as always a piece of jewelry. Not to mention Jelly Bellys, M&Ms, and other assorted sweets. When they are home we color eggs and "borrow" all the small children we can find for an egg hunt.

My DS 16 and DD 14 will still get Easter baskets. Once they realized who the Easter Bunny's "helpers" were, they started creating a basket for DH and I. :D

You are supposed to STOP getting Easter Baskets?? :o

Ever since my little brother and I found out the 'truth' about the Easter Bunny...my mother just made one big "family basket".

Since it was common for all of us to give up chocolate for lent - it would be filled to the brim with chocolate-ly goodness.

I'm 27 and married, my brother is 24, and she STILL has a big basket waiting for us when we drive home for Easter dinner.

and yes - we still fight over the candy like 5 year olds! heheh

Mine are 15 and 13 and they still love them. We don't dye eggs any more though.

I remember getting a beautiful basked from my parents when I was in college with all sorts of goodies.

LOL @ this. DH is one of 8 kids. They range in age from 41 to 32. DMIL STILL makes up a HUGE basket every year for them (and all us ILs now too). And the Candy Fights can get a bit dicey.

Oh she also does individual bags or baskets for all 21  of her grandchildren who range in age from 23 to 9 months!!!!!

LOL! Geez, I was thinking of no baskets this year, mainly because it just seems like another holiday to buy stuff that nobody needs, but you guys have changed my mind!

My youngest is 13 and now I'm excited about filling a basket for her. I like the idea of buying things that I would probably buy for her anyway, like a cute t-shirt, DVD, beach towel for our upcoming Bahamas trip, candy, and some other inexpensive items.

I guess you're right- the Easter Bunny doesn't care about age!:D

My dad has always given us Easter Baskets (even when he had to mail them!) complete with a special letter he'd make for each of us from the "Dum Bunnie." He passed away last year so this is a difficult time for us.

DD is 13 and she'll be getting them as long as I'm alive. She gets candy, some little doo-dads (hair ties, pencils), a DVD or CD, and she's requested a bathing suit this year!

There's a wonderful kids book called "I Love You Forever" and the mom tells her son, "As long as I'm living, my baby you'll be."

omg - just remembered this.

One year I couldn't come home from college for easter - so my mom sent me something. (I wanna say I was 20 or 21 at the time)

I go pick up the box at the student union and I walk back to my dorm with it.

I accidently drop it....
oh dear god...

all of a suddent this box is jerking all over the place and all I hear "nyah...some bunny loves you...nyah..some bunny loves you."

yes - many cute boys saw this embarrassment. heheheh

I'll be sending younger DS (in college) a basket of goodies. He has to work on Easter & he just broke up with his GF - so I figure he could use something from home. (I told him he'd be missing the EasterEgg hunt at home -he mock-scolded me for "rubbing it in" - his idea of a good time doesn't include watching his little cousins screaming & running around in our backyard!) I'll double check with his brother to see what he might suggest for the basket, but it'll definitely include some See's Easter eggs.

I haven't colored eggs in several years. We hide plastic eggs with candy, stickers and little things in our backyard for the 6 year old triplets and their 12 year old brother. (we just found a plastic egg in the backyard last month with a Cadbury egg in it!)

My sister (17) and I (19) still get Easter baskets! The boyfriend's also get Easter baskets at our house. We still get a bunch of candy, because you can never be too old for that! My grandmother is also obsessed with buying us things and spoiling us, so it's another occassion to get us more clothes and gifts.
