DS forgot his iphone charger and the ihome At AKL does not accommodate it. Front desk and gift shop have no accessories. Any guideance? 10 days without iphone will be very long!! We don't have a car to go to Radio Shack.

Most hotels have a whole boxful of chargers left behind by departing guests--and given how common the iPhone has become, it's quite likely there's a compatible charger there...we once forgot our charger and there was one that fit the phone in the box of "left-behind chargers" at check-in...

If your resort doesn't have one, try some of the other resorts...and don't ask for "an iPhone charger"--rather, bring your phone, say you forgot your charger, and ask if you can borrow one in the "left-behind" box...then look through to see if one in the box will fit your phone...

That's what we did...took less than 5 minutes (this was at AKL, about 2 years ago now...the phone in question wasn't an iPhone, but was a smartphone)...we were asked to return it when we left (and we did)...

Another possibility is to call a local Best Buy or Radio Shack or even one of the close-by drugstores...some will deliver (we had a prescription medication delivered to us at SSR once, from one of the drugstores/pharmacies near Downtown Disney, when my daughter got sick and her physician called in the prescription--the SSR front desk gave us the phone number of the pharmacy that would deliver)...where we are (the Washington, DC area) the drugstores are big enough that you can buy common chargers there...it's worth calling to ask...

Final idea (from me): call the closest store(s) to find a charger and then take a cab to/from to pick it up...this is likely the priciest of my ideas, but still might be worth it to have use of the phone!

Hope it works for you!

Still have power? I would get the AKL mailing address and order a new one online and ship it overnight or priority mail. A taxi would cost about the same or more.

Amazon has a ton of sellers with after-market chargers for under $5.00. Even with shipping it will be less than $20.

Walmart sells the iPhone, and I believe there's one not terribly far from AKL. I assume they'd have chargers as well.

There's an Apple Store in the Mall at Millennia, and also Florida Mall. They're a bit farther than a Walmart would be, so the cab ride would be more expensive.

AT&T stores would also have the charger. There's one in Celebration, one in Kissimmee, and one in Orlando up on Sand Lake Road, which isn't too far from DTD, about 15 minutes or so?

If you don't want to deal with a cab, I'd just have it overnight shipped from Amazon to AKL.

This probably wont help but its worth a shot. As you know, the Deluxe Resorts (At least the CL had then for sure) Have the iHome clock radios with built in docks .... some of the older ones do not charge the newer iPhones (this happend to me too), so I called guest services at the Resort, explained the issue and they replaced the iHome clock radio with a new unit that ended up being compatible with the newer iPhones and charged my phone.

My dad left his iphone charger at home on the last trip he took. The front desk did not have any box of chargers to assist. We found the cheapest option was to have my brother fedex a charger to the hotel. Renting a car or taking a taxi to Walmart was going to cost even more than the fedex!

What about DTD ..... any shops there?

Are you driving? If so, (or by cab), just ask the concierge the nearest place to buy one and go get one..

OK, you have to trust the Scupper . . .

1) Every WDW resort has a lost-and-found.
2) Items are kept 1-day then turned over to Central L&F.
3) However, we normally keep
. . . a few phone chargers
. . . a few computer chargers or power supplies
4) Just for those folks who forget theirs.
5) Go to Concierge Desk and be VERY, VERY NICE to them.
6) Ask them if they have a charger for your unit.
7) Make sure you have the unit in-hand for them to match.

NOTE: If you are nice and they try to match it, they could also
be out-of-stock. Someone else might have the spare charger.
But, remember, be nwill, or you wil be told that they do not
have any at all.

WHy dont you just ask one of your neighbors at the hotel if you can borrow their charger for a little while? I bet most people would be happy to lend it to you. I know I wouldnt have a problem with lending my charger to a fellow resident at a disney resort.

Don't know if this is accurate, but I heard the Guest relations inside the parks will charge phones.

Call Amy at WeGoShop. She will go to any store and pick up what you need. You are only charged the shopping fee percentage.
We forgot our laptop cord on our trip last December and she picked one up for us at Best Buy and dropped it off at our hotel the same day.

The iHome unit should accommodate it. You may need to spin the dial to change the size, or remove any case the phone is in. I have used a 3G and 4S in those units fine, so it should work with all models.

I also do believe that they have deployed some of the charger lockers in park. Some of them have the cables already attached, so you would just need to plug it in.

The pinout on the original iPhone (and iPods) is different than the subsequent models. I have the original Bose dock and Ipod hi-fi by apple and neither of those work with the newer models (for charging purposes) because of the pin out change that they made to the newer devices. If the OP's room has one of the older iHome docks (we ran into this problem last year) then it wont charge. We called guest services, they repalced our iHome clock/dock with a new one and it charged my phone just fine. Some of the rooms may still have the older units in them.

you can take a cab to a walmart or walgreens that are very close off property and get one... easy fix... take the bus to dtd and take a cab from there so the fair would be cheaper....

Thank you all for your replies. We struck out on all the resort options (and we were really nice :)) and decided not to spend the time and money to get a cab and that DS would just be without his phone. We kept checking stores in the parks and did find a USB charger at DHS. As luck would have it we had an USB plug on our BLackberry so we could finally charge it. Tough lesson learned. Not all ihomes are alike :). Thank you again!!

Good to know for the future about We Go Shop! And I never thought to ask Guest Relations at the parks!
