Tomorrow I run in the half marathon. It is going to be 40 degrees at the race start. Why did I want to do this?

Our room is great. This is our second stay at OKW, first as a DVC member. Everyone has been friendly and happy.

We are in building 34. It seems like a great location. We are right across from the Turtle Pond bus stop.

Wish me warmth for the morning!

Good luck in the morning. At least it will be above freezing, not like here ,we're at -2 right now. But we will be there in 7 days.

Regards, Rich

Run fast- it'll keep you warmer! :)

We're in building 36 - very close by!

Enjoy the race!

Good luck with the race! At least you don't have to worry about it being too warm tomorrow morning. ;)

Sorry that it will be a cold start -- it looks like things should start warming up again by the afternoon.

Have a wonderful time.

I wish it would get up to 40 here - it was -8 this morning. 40 sounds pretty warm to me right now~!

Good Luck!

I have a dear friend who is also running in the full marathon tomorow. He is staying at OKW with a couple of other friends of mine. Please tell them HI for me

Stay warm and run GOOD!!!

pin;)

Good luck with the race! Last year we saw quite a few folks coming back from the marathon with space blankets wrapped around them.

Boy 40 sounds so toasty right now! ;) Hope you reach your personal goal tomorrow and have fun!

Just think of how jealous we are of you...maybe that will warm you up at bit in the morning. It's freezing cold in NJ too and I'd give anything to be at the beautiful OKW Resort, cold or not!

Good luck manana!

Brrr! I'm off to work about 42 minutes away from Disney and it is cold let me tell you. I live in a cold spot (Kathleen) north of Lakeland. It is 34 degrees right now in my backyard.
Stay warm  Runnnnnnn

July:wave:

Good luck today with your race.

Are you within walking distance to the pool?

 LOL! Tomorrow is going to hit 36 ..I am planning a beach day!

Good luck in the marathon! Just think, it could be 90!

I am so glad you could make the trip... wasnt one of the kids sick?? Hope this means they are feeling better...

As for the race..... GO GO GO!!!! 5 minutes into it you will be glad it is nice and cool.

Good luck with the race. As others have stated, we are freezing her in Michigan too.

Don't forget to let us know how you ran! Our jealousy that you are there and we are NOT should help keep you warm. If it's any consolation, we are a toasty 26, with clouds and it's snowing lightly, so your weather MUST be better than ours!:sunny:

I was shooting for anything under 2:30 and/or an 11 minute per mile pace. My official time as posted on the Wide World of Sports website is 2:18:53 with a pace of 10:51.6.

The last two miles were the hardest. Previously I had never run longer then 10 miles. Up until just after mile 10 I was running just under a 10 minute per mile pace.

My goal was to run the first 10 miles without stopping. I stopped to walk the first time somewhere between mile 10 and mile 11. I walked a few hundred feet and then walked about an 1/8 of a mile during the 12th mile. I was just glad to find that my walking did not cause me to miss breaking the 2 hour mark.

The start was cold. I arrived in the Goofy parking lot around 3:50 in the morning. I did not cross the start line until 6:05 ish. I had bought a 6 dollar pair of pants from walmart to throw to the side after the race started. It was like several hundred suitcases had exploded along the side of the roads in Disney. Everyone was shedding layers. Pants went first. Most were gone by mile 2. Sweat shirts went next. They littered miles 3 to 5. The funny thing was to see all the gloves at mile 12. I took mine off but kept them. I was happy to put them back on after the finish.

The best part was running through Epcot in the morning before the sun came up. The lights were on at the countries like they were going to do the fireworks. The only people in the park were the volunteers and the runners. They were blasting music just like at the fireworks.

My son is much better. A few days of the antibiotic and his ear infection was no longer bothering him. His ear drum burst the night after we took him to the doctor. He ended up with thrush but that was fixed with another prescription.

If I can just walk in the morning we are going to enjoy the warm weather at one of the parks and get in some good swimming.

Thanks for all the well wishes.

Congratulations to you!! Thanks for telling us how it went. I didn't realize the half-marathon was run before sun-up. I'm so sorry it had to be cold and dark for your run --- but you must be pleased that you made it. Is a full marathon in your future?
