oh that has made me so happy - we've stayed offsite before and I really have got used to wifi :)

OK, I'm a real numpty when it comes to computer things!
We are staying at OKW on points next year in a studio. DH has an I touch - would we be able to use it at OKW? When we turn it on when we first get there will we be able to use the internet or do we have to do something first? I am thinking mainly for looking at the forums and then using VA OLCI before we come home.

Am I right in thinking that the OKW studios have an I pod docking / charging station?

Thanks for any help - I told you I was a numpty!!

Claire :)

Another numpty question :confused3

We are staying at All Star Music and we are going to pay for internet while we are away.

DH has asked me to ask "is the ethernet cable provided or do we need to bring one?" and "can we pay up front for internet for our entire stay or do we have to pay daily?"

Thanks for any help

Thanks Wayne this is great news :)
It was the one sour point I had about our Disney booking.

Given that McDonalds and coffee shops can provide free wi-fi access I refuse out of principle to pay hotels for wi-fi.

As the Wifi is new I am not sure exactly how it works but usually it takes you to a log in page where you will have to enter a password, the password is usually given to you at check-in or in the room. Some hotels change this password weekly, other hotels never change it. We will have to wait for others to post how to log in.
Yes there is a docking station on the bedside clock radio. :thumbsup2

They provide a cable at Disney hotels but I always travel with mine, if you take it by accident hey charge you something like $15-20.
You pay for each 24 hour block, some people manage to get 2 days out of 24 hour access, we rarely can, in August it cost us for 14 days out of 16, just managed to gain 2 days. It costs $9.95 for each 24 hour period.

Cable will be on the clothes rail in a bag.

The charge is added to your room account.

We like our internet time each day, we all take a laptop each and have paid it in the past but what Disney charge for rooms I think this is long overdue, especially in the Deluxe resorts.
I felt price for next year OKW & free DDP was reaching a price barrier for me, thinking this would be the last time but adding more value like free internet and a resort mug each I am more inclined to continue staying there for now.

any word if they will include the Moderates in this? We are staying POFQ in Feb and free net would be nice.

It may not be where it should be though. Ours was said to be at the table and chairs in the room. Well it was. But it wasn't working for some reason. I called up the number provided and it turned out that there were two in the room - another one between the two beds - whcih did work. (Both should have been functioning by the way but we are so rarely in our room I told them it was fine to use the one at the bed).

Looks like just deluxe and conference hotels (hence CSR being on the list) so don't count on it. But I would guess it's just a matter of time

Thanks wayneg and elise79,

DH says he will take a cable rather than risk taking the hotel's and getting charged :thumbsup2

And I'm way too blonde to work out how to time it to get 2 days for the price of 1 :lmao: So we'll just pay for the whole time we are there, we won't be leaving a credit card on file at reception, so will they charge us when we check out or expect us to pay daily? Can't we pay the whole fee in advance?

best wishes

PS wayneg - is there anything you DON'T know about Disney :worship: You are amazing and are always so quick to answer everything I'm in total awe :worship:

I'm surprised to see that BLT isn't included. I'm sure there are more that aren't but for some reason this one stood out for me.
I have long questioned why wi-fi wasn't free at Disney (obviously it is an easy money spinner for them - but they were really behind the times on this one) so this will come as welcome news to lots of guests :thumbsup2

As Lee says, not yet but hopefully its a matter of time.

1st time we stayed at OKW I tried the outlet near the table and chairs, worked OK for 1 laptop but couldn't add a wireless router to it. I then found the access point between the beds, no problem at all for there.

So we'll just pay for the whole time we are there, we won't be leaving a credit card on file at reception, so will they charge us when we check out or expect us to pay daily? Can't we pay the whole fee in advance?

I am sure they will accept money in advance butI highly recommend getting a credit card if at all possible, Post Office, Halifax Clarity & Santander Zero all give you the full interbank rate with no fees. If like today the rate is $1.58 that is what you get, if you take cash or Travellers cheques you pay about 5% in conversion fees, high street today will be about $1.50, nowhere near the credit card rate.
Also consider insurance if you are taking cash, many insurance companies only cover upto about £250 in cash.

There is lots I don't know, thankfully we have a fantastic group on here, whatever I don't know others do, I am very privileged to have been able to spend so much time in Florida and I just want to pass on my knowledge as much as I can.
One piece of advise I will give, don't listen to just one person, everyone likes different things, there is no right and no wrong way of doing a Florida holiday, it's all about finding the right way for you and your family.:goodvibes

I'll keep an eye out for the info then!

Well thank you so very much for being so generous in sharing your knowledge :worship:

We've been to Florida/WDW a few times, and I love it - its my Happy Place :lovestruc And thanks to the advice on this board from you and others our holidays get better and better each time :thumbsup2 I agree we probably do WDW a little differently to other families (one of our children has special needs) but we all still have a fantastic time :cheer2: and that's all that matters.

Thanks again

This makes me so happy. With an I pad will not have to take lap top. I do think it is about time most resorts in the area offer free wifi. Thank you Wayne got the good news ..:)

Great news, but not before time I think it should be in all the resorts. :thumbsup2

Great news! I think it was well overdue, especially with the prices of some of the rooms.
