Hi all,
We have been here since yesterday afternoon, and are having a wonderful time! This trip is just me and my 14 year old daughter (she is Disney addicted like me)---and we are making some great memories together. It is very hot and crowded, but we have adjusted our attitudes accordingly and are making the best of it.:goodvibes

So far, no rides have gone down for us, and we have lucked out timing-wise with some lines.

Last night as my girl and I sat there eating our mint-chip waffle ice cream cones and watching the fireworks--I just felt like "it doesn't get much better than this!". The upside of the very hot day weather means that you can wear a little sundress at night and eat ice cream and not be cold at all!

We are taking a break from the sun and crowds relaxing in our hotel room right now, but will be back at it soon.

Take care,
Lisa:)

My 11 year old daughter and I did a girl's trip back in February...what special memories. Glad you're having a good time.

Sounds like a great trip. I am coming to Cali to cool off :rotfl:, it's 105 here in San Antonio Texas, so the 80's will feel like a cool front to me.

Vettegirl, I agree with you on the going to California comment. My wife and I were in San Antonio this past weekend (we're from Houston) and it was incredibly hot at both Fiesta Texas and Sea World.

BTW, are you an Aggie? c/o 2006 here

My little girl (just now 18) and I went to WDW for a mother-daughter trip last October and we're headed over for same at DL in TEN days (Yay!). We love family trips as well, but those trips with just the two of us are so special. We are just laid back and relaxed - eat when we want to, sleep when we want to, etc. Of course, we also open and close the parks because we love Disney just that much. I've had that "just doesn't get any better than this" feeling with her many times. As she grows up and moves away and has less time for me, I'll cherish those memories. Have fun!!! I am happy for you.

Enjoy your girl time! DD asked me if we could do a "girls only" trip someday. Sounds like a blast! :goodvibes

i have 3 daughters and we have mother daughter trips for their 16th birthdays. (my second daughter will be 16 in oct.) it is a very special time!!

we are also leaving on our second girls only trip in just a few more days! we will be in DL aug. 5-10.:cool1:

Why yes I am, class of 01. I live 5 min from Fiesta Texas and that place is miserable in the heat.

Aw, this thread warms my heart:goodvibes My dd (18) and I will be arriving next weekend for a mother/daughter trip before she heads off to college. So many people don't understand our obsession with Disney. I'm so glad all of you do:hug:

dlander - My DD is off to college in August too! I feel like Pooh when Christopher Robin told him he was going to Skull and that he couldn't come along. Here's hoping we both have magical weekends with our daughters. :wizard:

Sounds like a fabulous time so far! I have 2 girls but they are 1 1/2 and 5 1/2. I so look forward to when they get older and we can have mommy/daughter trips!!!

Thanks Lisa for the report, if nothing else goes wrong we should be there next Sunday.

Jack

Oh wow, that is so close, Jack! I hope you have a great time!! We leave tomorrow. I look forward to hearing all about it.
Lisa:)

Ahh you are so right about being able to enjoy ice cream at night. That is a real positive for the hot days!! Sounds like a magical trip indeed!!:goodvibes

Thanks, guys--
I am so happy to hear about your great trips with your kids too. Yesterday was such a great day. Doc Goofy, you are right--the ability to just 'do as you wish' all day is so much fun! This trip we have no concret plans, just "highlights" of what we want to hit that day. Last night after we got back to the hotel, my daughter wanted to take a night time swim in the pool. I am not much of a swimmer and usually leave that part of the job to my husband, but since he is not here, I put a smile on my face and jumped into my swimsuit too. It was so wonderful swimming in the moonlight with the music playing in the background. I think we laughed more last night than we have in a year!

Last night we were also on a mission to ride the Silly Symphony Swings in the dark (my daughter's wish)--because we had tried the previous night and they were shut down for WOC. The CM recognized us from the night before (we got there just as she was closing the line), and welcomed us back. She let us ride 2 times in a row without getting off for being so persistant! We loved it! That ride is really cool at night--it feels like you are flying.:goodvibes

Today is our last day and we have our little bullet list today (Star Tours once more, Pirates again, and more fireworks!) but other than that we are off on our adventure.

Thanks for sharing about your trips with your daughters too! Yesterday while we were eating at Carnation Cafe a mom and her grown son (he looked about 19) were sitting at the next table. You could tell it was their first time there and they were so cute with all of their maps and schedules and lists. It made me smile!
