At AKL now, Value Studio 5124

ohhhhhhh happy memories... I was there last October!:sad1:

I'll look for Simba's Mom's pics. I don't have the right cords with me now.

I think it would be ok for 2 adults and one 13 as long as you stagger showers and put up the bed during the day. We like the closet -- adds more storage compared to the value studio lock-offs. Remember we are in a dedicated, so get a closet instead of the passage door to the 1 br.

It's hot here! Just not used to summer heat yet. It's not humid like July, but they really need rain here.

Still hoping for picture/s,,No worrys if u "No Can Do" :)

Enjoy the rest of your trip :)

DHS today -- got there around 10 am, our TDM FPs were for 1:20, ( guess they ran out about noon). Did TOT, RnR, watched Beauty and the Beast, ate at the Commissary, saw Muppets, used our FP at TSM (finally beat DH and earned a beaver with 104,00 points and 35% accuracy). We watched Little Mermaid and then called it a day -- just too darn hot. My blister cooperated with moleskin and a large waterproof bandage (and prayer, too), but it's still tender, so I'm very sloooow at the parks.

Tonight will be low key -- pool and maybe a movie in the room or at the pool. The outdoor movie is at Jambo on Sunday, Thursday, and Saturday.

There's an outdoor movie at Jambo now? When I was there last year, it was only at Kidani. Also, the exact movie was chosen that afternoon. Is there a schedule of movies given at check-in, or are they selecting them that day again? I've always loved the outdoor movie-as Sparky says "It's all part of the experience", and I'm so excited that they now might have them right at Jambo. I was already looking forward to my next trip (with help from your posts)-now I'm even more excited.

We haven't seen a posting of the movie -- we're just going down to check.

Animal count from 6 to 7 pm: 2 wood storks, 1 giraffe, 4 zebra, 2 wildebeests, 1 eland (CJ of course), 1 nyala buck.

The zebra are the most elusive here.

Simba's Mom: Glad the posts are helping. I feel such an affinity to you -- not only knowing the Woodstock Fair, but DH was born in McAllen, his grandmother lived there for years, and I've been to the Grapefruit Festival, and Padre Island (before all the high rises). We lived in Galveston while I was doing a clinical psych internship at UTMB.

They showed the original Alice in Wonderland in Jambo when we were there in April. We only were at the pool one evening. There's just so many things to see and do...you're lucky to have such a long trip there!

Alas no movie last night due to a threat of a thunderstorm -- that of course never happened. Today is AK and dinner at Sanaa. Then this comes to an end on Saturday when we return to CT.

Tied the temp record today at 94.
I'm sorry I didn't know until now that you were at AKV. We just came back on Wednesday (stayed at VWL) and ate at both Boma and Sanaa during our stay. It would have been nice to see you again.

As hot as it was at WDW on May 11th, it was even hotter heading back towards MCO. We left for the airport around 5pm and the rental car's temperature display went up as high as 100 degrees at one point! When we stopped for gas near the airport, DH was laughing that it had "cooled off" to 99 degrees when he had to get out to fill up.

Did it rain at WDW on Wednesday evening? There were big storms at MCO around 7pm with heavy downpours and spectacular lightning causing flight delays and diversions.

I agree -- it would have been lovely to see you again. The rain never got to where we were at WDW on Wed. WESH just described "pop-up showers." And it's not going to rain tonight either.

I have laundry drying in the DVC laundry (to pack up, alas) and dinner at Sanaa is at 6:25. I'm looking forward to that, DH isn't so sure.

Saturday am: packing up to leave:sad2: Even though we were lucky enough to stay 6 nights in this wonderful room, it's hard to leave. The weather is going to break with afternoon showers, and next week it's predicted to be more typical with highs in the 80s. The heat definitely slowed us down this trip, but it was still enjoyable. We did less in parks and more at the resort -- I was wondering if that would ever happen to us -- we're ride junkies. Still did most of the major attractions, and they'll be here in November when we return with our adult children and our anticipated grand0daughter due July 6. Our daughter and son-in-law's baby shower is tomorrow, so that will help the transition home.

Ate at Sanaa last night. A shower broke out and had animals more active. Learned the giraffes don't like to get their bums wet! They hid under trees, and one ostrich prostrated herself with neck fully extended on the ground. Afterwards, there was a lot of movement. We had the bread service and short ribs and green curry shrimp. Very nice.

Thanks to all who posted and lurkers too. Hope this gave you a taste of Jambo and helped with planning for others.

That is so cool! I've never seen the savannah during the rain and it sounds like something to hope for on my next trip. I signed up for the sunset savannah tour (Wanyama Safari). Instead of being dissappointed if it rains, I'll look forward to it.
Do you know if they still offer the tour of the Sanaa resturaunt in the afternoon? I remember that when I did it, I was the only one on the tour, and at the end, the chef brings out what I think is the bread service ( unleavened bread with three different dips). Since I was alone, it was enough for my whole dinner meal!
Thanks so much for your reports.

Don't know about the Sanaa tour. I think the board outside Community Hall in Kidani does a better job with the activities than the sheet at Jambo.

We arrived home late. We flew with Direct Air so have come to expect delays. We were out of West Palm Beach -- they opened up a new flight last fall for $79 and I couldn't resist the price, and thought we see a bit more of FL. (Although I have now learned the FL Turnpike is boring, and they have stations that wash the love bugs off your windshield at the Service Centers -- one for trucks and one for cars.) The plane was held on the ground at Myrtle Beach due to thunderstorms and we took off two hours later than scheduled. Bands of showers crossed FL, and the temp dropped and this week WDW should experience more typical May temps in the 80s.

On the flight home, DH turned to me, and said "It was a good trip." And I'll agree.
