Don't have time to do every ride our family wants to squeeze in to our MK day, and it looks like these are pretty similar in style. I have two boys, 6 & 9. Which ride is more fun or offers a better experience? Thanks!

Dumbo is the classic attraction, and offers a much shorter wait most of the time. For those reasons, that gets my vote.

The only thing AO offers in my opinion is height and an okay view of Tomorrowland while you feel like you're falling out.

While I agree with Mesaboy, my personal preference is Asteo Orbiter, only because I get a little thrill zipping around so high up. Also, I was flying around up there once while the castle projection show was going on - that was pretty cool.

Dumbo by a landslide! The ride is not that great, but the new interactive queue is really neat (I'm sure it's not new to most readers, I think it's 2 years old).

Plus, as Misaboy2 points out, its a classic.

Astro Orbitor always seems too long of a wait for what it is.

To me, Astro Orbiter is more intense than Dumbo. I am not sure if it is the additional height or if it just felt like the rocket moved faster than the elephant.

I have not rode Dumbo since the move to the new site, but if time is an issue, I would chose Dumbo over Astro Orbiter. The line for Astro is usually slow moving since they have to take people up and down the elevator.

Astro Orbiter seems to move faster and in a tighter circle than Dumbo, which makes me dizzy! I much prefer Dumbo.

Dumbo is a classic, gentle ride. Astro adds a fun element of "BHJUGIHBJHGFHJLG I'm about to fly straight into the Contemporary!!!!" feel to it. Very different experiences.

imho although fun due to its height and speed, the astro orbiter is not at all worth the wait time. We were in line for 45 minutes for a ride that felt like it was 45 seconds long.

I am not sure if Dumbo's ride time is shorter or not, but I know the line is because capacity is at least double that of Astro Orbiter.

in Aladdin also. Astro Orbiter is a little more intense due to speed and height. It also has a long loading time. Your six year may find it too intense. Or might not.

Dumbo would be quicker.

(My kids like Aladdin. They like to catch me in the water stream from the camels.)

My vote goes to Dumbo but only because Astro Orbiter scares me. Yep, I'm a 40 year old that has been on AO 2 times (second time I thought "It wasn't that bad, right?")
I feel like I'm about to fall out the higher it goes

Are the orbiters armed? If so my money's on them. Otherwise Dumbo wins spraying them with peanuts just like he did the elephants who were mean to Mama Jumbo.

I would imagine if you asked your two BOYS, they would pick AO - at least the 9 yr old. Yes, the line can be long unless you get there early, but I like it much better than Dumbo.

Put me in the category as one who loves Dumbo but hates Astro Orbiter. I don't like the extra height of AO and the feeling that you are falling out.

IF the line waits were the same - I'd vote for Astro Orbiter. (I have 2 DS's too, now much older than yours) I like the height, the rocket theme, and they're "retro" cool (ok, Dumbo is retro, too).

BUT - as others have said, the AO line is VERY slow moving and BORING. We ONLY do it when lines are 10 minutes or less (park opening & close). I also agree with PP who said that the Magic Carpets should be thrown into the mix. It's a similar "go around in a circle, make carpet go up and down" type of ride.

As far as queues, Dumbo is hands down the winner, no contest. Your DS6 should like it.

I'm also going to mention that none of these have ever been "must do's" for my family. Even at a young age, my DSs preferred going on haunted mansion, BTMRR, pirates, splash, or SM a 2nd time over AO, Dumber, or Aladdin.
