Assistance Please

i am hoping if someone can advise is it possible to get public transport from Grauman's Chinese theatre area, to Santa Monica Pier.

I have looked at the tourist companies, and they are not really suitable for what we want to do.

any assistance will be appreciated.

I do know the the metro bus system goes out to Venice Beach which the Santa Monica Pier is on the north end of. I'm not sure of the routes to get there.

We were told that you can get a bus from LA to that area... not sure of the routes or how long it would take.
