Aspects of DVC that aren't so great?

The no daily maid service is a negative for me. Some people on this board suggested that I may grow to like not having the intrusion. I found out that I like the intrusion! BWV did give us evtra towels at no charge both at our request (1st day) and then on trash/towel day. We are "only use towels once" kind of people at home. So the thought of using the same towel over again skeeves me. We washed our towels in the washer/dryer every day-not that big of a deal I guess. We had to buy extra laundry detergent as we were washing our clothes too. Next time I'm packing the medium size box of Tide powder in my suitcase! I have to think about the fabric softner thing. I didn't like the hotel's selection. :teeth:

Booking at 11 months is not a biggie for me. It's actually LESS time ahead than I used to book our Disney stays. :rotfl:

The annual dues don't bother me, but I paid the initial purchase in full, so the dues are the only payment I have left. You can do them in 12 monthly payments too. I barely even notice them that way. I guess that's actually a plus!

Some people say not being able to get the free meal plan is a negative. DVC members can buy it for the same price as hotel guests, but no free dining during hurricaine season. That doesn't bother me because I would never travel that time of the year anyway, but it bothers some members.

I really can't think of anything else. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Expiration doesn't bother me. (I'll be in my 90's, and I will have gotten my money's worth several times over.)
Higher points on weekends doesn't bother me. (Think of it as lower points during the week.)

The advantages are: location, location, and location.
The disadvantages are: annual fees, annual fees, and annual fees. (This is where you really pay for your membership.)

You have less opportunity to spend time (and money) in deluxe resorts.

There are dozens of other timeshares and hundreds of vacation homes in the immediate area, some of which are no doubt wonderful and all of which are less expensive than DVC. But you will never find out.

Might I suggest soap when you shower. Sorry, don't kill me; I just had to make a smart remark after reading that. :rotfl:

A friendly reminder is the pool area almost always has towels you can use while at the pool. HHHHMMMMMM

Not sure what that has to do with not having new towels in the room, just an open comment. :)

Good one. All 5 of us use a new clean towel every day-and yes we use soap. :teeth: When I was living with my parents I used 2 every time I showered- one for my body and one for my hair. When I was in high school, I used to shower in the morning before school and then sometimes before going somewhere at night-so 4 towels. My mother was always complaing about my towel usage. She doesn't reuse towels though either-I guess that's where I get that from.

the only negative we have found is that since i am still a working girl - we can't enjoy our membership as often as we would like to!
:goodvibes
