Flight arrives in MCO at 1:30 p.m. We will be using ME to ASMu and will not have a rental car. I would like to make ressie for HDDR @ 5:00 on our first night (Aug 22)? Which WDW transportation should we use and how long will it take to get from All Stars to FW? Just wondering if we can make it in time.
If your flight is on-time and you have no other delays, you should be able to make it, but it won't be a relaxing time.
You should get to your resort by about 3:00 p.m. If I were you, I'd skip going to my room, and have Bell Services hold my carry-ons. In fact, if there's a long line to check in, I'd skip checking in.
Expect it to take 60-90 minutes to get from your resort to HDDR, including waiting time. Take a bus from your resort to MK. Walk in the general direction of the MK entrance, but way before you get there you'll go to the dock for a boat that goes to Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness. Take that boat. It will stop at WL first, and then FW. The good news is, the FW dock is very near Pioneer Hall, the site of HDDR.
They tell you to arrive at HDDR 30 minutes early. That may be a tad excessive, but part of it is because they pose you for a photograph outside before you're seated (they try to sell it to you later).
If you flight is delayed, or if you feel you "have to" check into your room or something like that, you can pay for a taxi from your resort to FW. That will be quicker, BUT then you'll be dropped off at the "front" of FW and will have to take an internal shuttle bus to get to Pioneer Hall.
All this being said, if I were you I'd make the reservation for Hoop at 7:00 p.m., or even on another day. You can most likely make the 5:00 p.m. show, but you MIGHT encounter delays that might make it a stressful experience. If you're the type that isn't stressed by that sort of time pressure, then it should work out fine. But if you're like me and hate time pressure during vacaction and would stress as the minutes tick, then make the ressie for 7:00 p.m. or for a different day.
HAVE FUN!
