Hi,

This forum has been so helpful I thought I would ask another question. (I hope I don't wear out my welcome - Disney Virgin)

I placed an earlier thread on how I have been confirmed into ASMo in April, aparently I have to purchase the WDW tickets with the accomodation through my agent as well. Is this true?

Also, what the agent is selling me with the Accomodation at ASMo is a 5 day "Magic" pass. I can't see any reference to a "Magic" pass and would like to know what sort of ticket this may be.

Thanks
Arthur

You can book rooms at ASMovies without purchasing any other add-ons.... unless you are getting some sort of "special" offer through your travel agent.

I've never heard of the ticket you are referring to - what does the ticket include? WDW sells "park hopper" or "park hopper plus" tickets - unused days NEVER expire; then there are "length of stay" passes that can be part of a WDW package, the downside to LOS is that you usually lose time on arrival/departure days and any days that you decide not to visit the parks are wasted expense.

You might want to compare the cost through your travel agent to what it would cost for you to make the arrangements yourself. We've always made our own arrangements and made out better.

Have a great trip! :D

April76,

Thanks for the reply............ we tried to make the reservations ourself but we couldn't get into ASMo. It appears the tour operators had booked it out. We were able to get a booking though with our Airline (QANTAS) through their Holiday section which is great. It appears now when we look more closely at the accomodation price that it is based on purchasing the accompanying "Magic" ticket. I haven't got the details on the ticket yet but would assume that it's a combination of the LOS pass that you mentioned with the "Magic" being the coupon you can trade for a "Character Meal" etc.

A length of stay pass is also known as an unlimited magic pass (UMP). If you are purchasing your trip through a travel company, you are most likely purchasing a package which includes your tickets. I don't know what you are paying, but packages are usually more expensive than booking all the components individually, on your own. You mentioned that you were trying to get in to ASMo, and could not book it on your own. Do you have your heart set on that resort? If not, I would suggest comparing the cost of the package to ASMo with the cost of booking on your own at other resorts. My first trip to WDW, I hadn't found the boards yet, and bought a package, which included airfare, accomodations at ASMo, and UMPs. For my next trip, I booked everything on my own, rather than through a package, and was able to stay at a moderate resort for about the same cost as the package to ASMo. Like I said, I don't know what price you were given for the package, but I'll bet you can probably do better on your own.

All the British tour operators now include the "magic" pass in the price of your holiday.
The pass gives you unlimited access to all Disney theme parks, water parks and Pleasure Island. It is also used as your resort I.D. and room key.
The pass also gives you a FLEX feature which means you get a free gift or meal at selected places etc.
Check the front of your brochure it will tell you about the pass there.
You are given the pass at hotel check in when you arrive.
I have always had this pass on previous visits, it works out great value.
Have a great holiday.

Thanks for the replies,

It looks like QANTAS & VIRGIN use the same Tour Package with the "MAGIC" pass. I thought it was expensive also $US 2500 for 2 rooms, 4 nights @ ASMo with 5 day "Magic" tickets for 4 adults + 2 children.

Also, another question......... if you can't get your "Magic" pass till you check in, I assume that they would allow an early check in time? Normally the earliest time hotels will let you check in is 1400.

Arthur,

You can check in early, even though your room most likely won't be ready until the afternoon. At the desk, they will give you your room keys and passes, and they will hold your luggage, if needed. Then you can go off to the parks until your room is ready.

Is the $2500 just for the room and passes, or does it include airfare? I took a look at ticket prices, and you can purchase unlimited passes on your own from your resort, for 4 adults & 2 kids, for 4 nights, 5 days, for about $1480. That leaves about $1020 covering the rest of the components of your package, which I'm assuming is just the two rooms for 4 nights. That comes out to about $127 a night per room - that seems a bit high for the All-Stars. I'm not sure when you are going, but I've seen people on the boards lately getting moderates for less than that. even with the Flex feature that is usually included in a package, I think you could do better booking on your own. Depending on what time you arrive on check-in day, and whether you are planning on going to the water parks & Pleasure Island, you could probably save even more by buying 4 or 5 day hopper passes instead of the unlimited magic pass.

Shannon,

The balance is just for 4 nights accom @ ASMo 9 - 13 April which I believe is "Peak". We don't get much choice here in Australia. We were preety keen to get the kids choice which was ASMo and given that it was a budget we thought it would be cheaper.

I would appreciate some advice on this as I am paying the whole booking in 2 days.

Thanks
Arthur

Check out the codes on MouseSavers.com. I wonder by your 1400 hours if you are military, there are specials for military personel also. We have stayed at Sports and Music and they are fun too. The moderate resorts have slides in the main pools, the kids might like that. If it comes out to $127 per night, that is really high for an All Star. Enjoy your vacation.:D

Arthur,

I just wanted to say "have a great trip"... you'll really enjoy the ASMovies -- I don't know how old your kids are, but I always the enjoy the character icons located all around the resort -- very "Disney-like".

We'll just be missing each other -- we arrive at ASMovies on the 14th!!

The foodcourt located in the main building is a great place to grab meals -- nice selection and we've never had a problem getting plenty of seating. Be sure to purchase the "refillable" mugs -- they are a great deal for the duration of your stay!

Is this your first trip to WDW? If so, I hope you gather plenty of information ahead of time so you can make a list of "must do's".... there's just so much! Fastpass and E-nites will also help make the most of your time there.

Have fun!
