Asking for the last row on a ride (questions)

I was wondering, what's so great about the front row at 7DMT? The reason I ask is that on my last solo trip, the CM asked me if I'd like the front row. At the time I didn't care, but I said "Sure!" just because I figured that if she asked, it must be special. Well, I thought the ride was a little more intense, but that's all.

We ask for last and first row seats on various rides with no issues. The CMs are used to it and place you on a separate line if need be. No biggie getting what you want.
I really don't care who I'm sitting next to anymore than they should. We are there for an approximate 2 minute experience and prolly won't see each other again in this life, LOL.

I truly don't understand why you wouldn't sit next to a 16 year old girl? It's just a ride.

It’s awkward for some males in their thirties to be in close confines with a 16 year old girl they do not know. Some may be comfortable, some may not. I personally am a confident person but could still could feel awkward in that situation based on others perceptions of me and based on the ride-partners attitude. There are a lot of negative stereotypes that run through people’s minds when a 30 something male is riding a ride at Disney by themselves, especially sitting next to a teenage girl. I know from experience, I’ve gotten looks. You may not look at it weird, but I can promise you someone is.

I guess it depends on the CM. I asked to wait for the front row at Soarin' as it was my daughter's birthday. CM just shook his head and said no. Not the end of the world.

Some call it the top row, but it's the front row when you first sit down. From the 2nd and 3rd row you have a view of the feet of every one in the row above you.

I always ask for the last row on the inside on ToT and the front row middle of Soarin. I have never been turned down and the CMs have been pleasant.

I agree and would have done the exact same thing. I would never sit on a ride with-in "touching" distance from a young woman that I didn't know.

In my line of work in the last few years, we always make sure that none of the male doctors are in a closed exam room with a female unless there is another staff member in there. There's just too much potential liability in the wake of the "me too" movement.

I would have cited my discomfort of the situation to the CM, and if he/she still didn't care, I would have left the line and immediately reported that CM.

Pre dates the"Me too" movement in my area by quite a few decades for all medicos, regardless of sex. The only time I'm alone with a doctor or dentist is when the exam is over and they are discussing treatment or lack of need. Good that your area has caught up to the trend.

We've always had great luck with asking for a specific row on rides. Only one less than pleasant experience comes to mind and it was on Splash. DD really wanted the front row. She asked politely and the CM rolled his eyes, tossed his hands in the air with a huff and rudely told her to "just sit wherever she wanted". He was clearly agitated. There was a group of rowdy teens in the log ahead of us so maybe something happened with them to upset him but I wasn't impressed at the way he spoke to my 7 yo.

Well, it might be because I'm not an MD, I'm a veterinarian. I never said that the female was my patient...

If businesses have recently instituted policies to never be put in a situation that would be a "my word against hers" situation due to the "me too" movement, then it seems reasonable to me that a CM should understand the discomfort of the poster who asked to be moved in order for a middle-aged man to not have to touch a teenage girl whom he doesn't know.

I think it's reasonable for a man to sit alone at all times if he is concerned he'll be falsely accused of untoward behavior towards anyone. Certainly, a CM should try to accommodate their preference.

Oh and I wasn't laughing at your profession; just a flood of jokes that entered my mind.

I'm always in the room when my feather baby is in the examination room but that's just because he's such a beast to others he doesn't know. One of the two doors is always opened but I never thought on to the why.

If that ever happens get the CMs name and make sure guest relations know. Help Disney weed out the bad eggs. You pay a small fortune for your vacation, there’s no reason you shouldn’t be allowed to wait for the seat of your choice, especially on your daughters birthday.
