Asking For The Front

I'm not sure if anyone has posted a thread on this subject as yet, but I thought I would. Many of us know about being able to ask for the front compartment when riding the monorail. When we get it, it's always awesome. A great view through that big front window. But I want to talk about asking for the front on park attractions. From what I've experienced, the cast members have usually been very courteous and said yes. I would say 90 - 95 percent of the time. There are those rare occasions when we ask and they say "no". Usually when it's more crowded. I find that the front seats of the rides usually give for a better experience. I would be interested to hear what others have to say about this.

Guess I should clarify I meant on the rides. I've never asked on the monorail.

If the CM says "no" for the monorail, can you request waiting for the next tram to be able to ride up front? When do you ask...the first CM you see???

We ALWAYS ask to sit at the front of: Expedition Everest, Soarin, Space Mountain, and Dinosaur....... and at the very back of Rock N Roller Coaster and Big Thunder Mountain!!

It's never been a problem, ever! Sometimes we just have to wait a little longer, that's all

For some rides, we enjoy the front car. Pirates, Splash Mountain and Soarin' come to mind. For us, some rides are perfect if you don't have people in front of your view.

After most of the crowds left the MK, we tried for the front car of the monorail. Unfortunately, a small group of people raced in front of us to try and claim the prized location but another group was already inside. Once we stopped at the parking lot, I noticed the group inside were leaving so we politely asked the driver if we could be next. He granted us entry and we had a blast riding once around before arriving at the parking lot again.

For the Monorail, it's always best to ask the first CM you see as soon as you get there. Don't delay. Once, we asked and were told that we were the first to ask, so yes, we could ride up front. We were then escorted past a family that had waited patiently near the front, but didn't ask until the Monorail arrived. I almost felt bad as if we were getting special treatment. But we simply asked first.

For rides, we have always been able to ask for the seats we want. Of course, that might mean waiting sometimes. I think it's great to be the highest up for Soarin', though my kids have the idea that Dinosaur is bouncier in the back, so they ask for that.

I always ask for seat 1 or 4 on Space Mountain, and the odd number rows on RR or else I simply can't ride. My legs get cramped in the other seats. CMs have always been super, super kind about it. I've also asked for front at EE, which has always been granted EE isn't about cramped legs, just a fabulous view (I love seeing Epcot & DHS!) It seems as if the CMs are accommodating -- unless it's super busy. I hope you have a great time in the front

I had a HORRIBLE experience at IOA on one ride, where my knee was twisted, and we were still waiting to move, and I was trying to resituate so my knee wouldn't be twisted. The worker yelled at me to get down, launched the ride and of course, my knee was pretty much out after that. Thankfully it was our last ride for the day. But it was one heck of a walk back to the car

For the monorail - we've never asked because it has always just been too busy.

We asked for EE in summer and we waited in a seperate line, only a few trains went past before it was our turn.

I asked for Soarin' on our trip last week to sit middle, front row. It wasn't busy, we pretty much walked right on (it was 9.40am) and the CM said yes of course.

Not asked for any others!
If you feel brave, ask! (I am not normally brave enough to ask!!!)

We've asked to sit in front row top section of Soarin and had no problem. We did wait until there was availability - about 7 or 8 minutes - which we fully expected.

We also let people go ahead of us for BTM so that we could have first pick on the next ride.

Hmmm, rides that I would think would be worth sitting in the "front"

MK
-Splash Mountain (only because you can duck and let the people behind you get hit with the wave)
-Space Mountain (of marginal use since it is dark anyways - but no "head" in front of you.)

Epcot
-Soarin ("Top" row - no feet)
- Test Track (Again- not much difference...)

DHS
- Tower of Terror (best views)
- RnRC
- Great Movie Ride (If you want to try and banter with the CM)

Hmmmm, I guess it's mostly just the coaster type rides and Soarin'. I didn't include BTMRR because the front row is still behind the "Engine", plus its such a mild coaster. If I had to rank them as to which have the best different front row experience - #1 would be EE, then Soarin', then ToT. Beyond those three, there is not really much advantage to being in the front. Soarin' and ToT you can ask for the front without really waiting. EE I believe has a separate queue for the front (when you get near the load area) so you may have a longer wait there.

The secret to getting the front of the monorail is to take the monorail somewhere where no-one is riding it...our trick...get to Epcot first thing in the morning, and ride from Epcot to the TTC. You almost certainly will have the front...they'll kick you out on the ride back, though.

Wow, I never knew that. Haven't gone yet, but I will this weekend. How does that work? Is there a split in the queue that points one way for the rear and another way for the front?

When you get to the end of the queue, and ask for the row, they will split you off into a separate waiting queue, near the single riders line.

and incidentally, the reason why there is one for the back is because many roller coaster enthusiasts claim that's the best experience.

When I took my oldest dgd to WDW a few years back she asked to sit up front on many of the rides and the cms were happy to let us. Sometimes we had to wait until the next time around or such but we were able to get the front on most rides.

I like to ask for the front on Pirates, and the BACK on Thunder Mountain. Otherwise, I just go where they tell me to.

The only row or seat we've specifically asked for is the last row on Pirates. DS is afraid of the hologram and we've discovered if we sit in the last row then it's gone by the time we get to the fog. ETA: The CM's have always been very nice about it.

Other than that I go where I'm told lol!
