Asking About Celebrity Cruises?

Is there somewhere on here to talk about this?
I'm starting to plan the next cruise and I really miss you guys - Cruise Critic is not a great forum for getting actual help.

Samesies, but for NCL! I think it's partially b/c the info is sort of spread out there - you can't just go to one single forum for help the way we are used to coming to the DCL forum here.

The Carnival thread died a sad death here, and I don't recall ever seeing another general one for an alternative cruise line. Celebrity is owned by Royal Caribbean, so maybe that forum has some info? It's not as busy as the DCL forum, of course.

CC forum not helpful, strange since I’ve found good info there, https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/16-celebrity-cruises/

Also if you think you might use a travel agent Dreams has a bunch of folks that might be helpful. I use traceyh@dreamsunlimitedtravel.com.
I can kinda see the OP's point since right now it's a lot of griping about some cuts (drastically reduced buffet in the evening, changes to menus).

But I agree that there are some posters there who are very helpful.

Heck, you could say the same thing about the DCL or RCCL forums here.

I haven’t been on the RCCL ones, but the DCL ones have NOTHING on the CC X boards right now.
The comment was meant that all the forums will have people posting about cutbacks and changes that all the cruise lines are doing, you just need to wade through all of those to find out what you need.

There are also some Celebrity private groups on the social media. Some are specifically for particular cruises and others are for specific ships/classes of ships. CC was really helpful for our 2018 Celebrity Southern Caribbean cruise, but the cruise group had some long time Celebrity cruisers and many people who knew each other. For our upcoming July 11 Night Italy/Turkey/Greece on Beyond, CC hasn't been too great. The social media has been better. I am willing to help if I can. Feel free to PM me. We don't have as much Celebrity experience as some other posters on this thread though.

OP, we cruised Celebrity in October 2019 and with one exception it was a wonderful cruise.
The exception was the extreme hard sell to sign up for extra cost dining. You could not go into the buffet or into the main dining room without passing a staff member asking if you were interested in signing up for one of the extra cost dining rooms. At the buffet they even had a staff member coming around table to table with menus from the extra cost dining rooms, and offering half off.
Disney seems unique in that they have people lining up to book extra cost dining. My cruises on Celebrity, HAL and NCL you literally could walk up and get a table in the extra cost restaurants. Our server on one cruise said the cruise line when they designed the newer ships had over estimated how many people would sign up for extra cost dining, so the main dining rooms were packed, and the extra cost restaurants too big.
One of the vloggers I follow did a cruised on Princess and tried their "bundled" extra cost dining package where you get a reservation in each extra cost restaurant for a discounted price.

If you ask a question and Jim_Iain answers, that's the correct answer. He knows everything.
Ditto Bo.

I can try to help - I've been on one Celebrity cruise on the Edge in 2020 and will be on the Summit in July.

edit to add: assuming you have the same screen name over there @katmigordon, I only see one question you've asked in the middle of another thread. A new thread would be more likely to get answers. (I have no clue to that question as I don't do the suite thing - I'd rather cruise more often and I'm perfectly fine in regular cabins.)

So better to start a whole new thread? I can do that, I've just been trained that it was better to ask in an already existing thread if it's a connected question.

Since the thread seemed to be more about the dining package than being in a suite, I'd say so. Sometimes questions mid threads get answered, but not always. You can even say you tried to search but couldn't find anything in your post. :)
