Ask Me Anything

Do we need to get the kid's band on the first day, or can we get it any time during the cruise? I just hated the long wait in the line last time we cruised. I don't plan to leave our kid at the club on the first day, so if it is not necessary to pick up the band on the first day, I would like to do that when there is no line. Thank you!
Our youngest did his band in the cruise terminal before we even boarded. Saved time on the ship and gave us something to do to pass the time in the terminal until our boarding number was called.

How far off 13?? Generally within a few weeks the Counselors may make an exception. But Edge is lots of fun and there will be lots of 13 year olds :)

Sailing end of the month. March 25th birthday(13 years 8 months). She just met a "friend" on instagram. She is 14. 14 can go to the Edge though, so maybe they can just hang there. I told her I would ask if she could go to both like you can when you are 11. Thanks.

Yes it may be better for them both to stay in Edge. You can always ask. Will you feel comfortable for your 13 year old hanging out with 17 year old boys??

Hmm... you might be right about that one, especially since she is homeschooled. OK... will try to keep her in the Edge. Maybe will go to the Vibe for an Open House. I think she just might be curious about it. Her older sister is 16, but she prefers to hang with mom, aaahhh... haha. Thanks.

Yes, I remember seeing many people trying to get the band at the terminal too. We did not have to wait too long at the terminal, so we skipped it. If we have time to kill, this is definitely an option!

May I ask another question...can we have the pre-ordered allergy-free meal sent to the kids club during lunch? We did this once before, and just want to make sure we can still do this. All we have to do is mention this to the waiter when we pre-order the meal, and tell the counselor when we drop off our kid? Thank you!

Hi yes you can do this. Just make sure you tell the Counselors :)

Hello, First time Disney Cruiser here. Just wondering if pictures are taken of the fun activities the kids area experiencing in the Lab or the Edge. Also, my daughter will be 11 at time of sailing. Can she be signed up for both the Oceaneers Lab and the Edge? Will she be able to have sign in and out privileges? Thank you in advance.

Which ship are you sailing on?? That will depend on if pics get taken or not... Yes an 11 year old can go to both. Yes she can have self check privileges from the lab and club. It's not relevant for edge :)

What special activities should I pack for? I have read about Pirate Night, but is there anything else? We are sailing on the Fantasy in May.

For prebooked nursery hours, is there a cancellation fee? We are hoping to get tickets for Elsa and Anna and no idea what day or time that would be at. Would hate to have to pay the nursery fee if it's during the same time.

Also, what are the hours on the first night of the cruise? We are sailing western Caribbean on the Fantasy and I know it's recommended kids go that first night to help form friendships. We will be doing Disney transfers from AoA so it won't be an early morning start, my 8 yr old should be ok staying up late that night. I hope anyways!

Oh, and are kids in the nursery expected to wear wristbands at all times? Not so sure the 2 yr old will be ok with that.

There is a cancellation fee - but I want to say it's 24 hours notice or something? You could also take your child out to see Anna and Elsa, and then take them back. .

With my 2yo son, we had the band on his nappy (diaper) bag. He didn't wear it once. That was easy to scan in and out.

I didn't realize you can get bands at the terminal. Where exactly is that located?

When I was on the Dream last time, it seemed like Oceaneer's Lab or Club was open, never both at the same time. Is that not the case? Because my older son would much prefer the Lab vs the Club.

The opposite side from where you check-in (before the area where concierge check-in is located in the corner, almost directly opposite where you go through the Mickey ears to board).

We were recently on the Magic and my daughter was playing one of the games on an iPad (I think, some kind of tablet) that was a game where she was creating pirate and dressing it up. Is this a game exclusive to the Oceaneer's Club or is this something available for download. Thanks!

You can, but the line is usually crazy bonkers long. It's usually easier to skip that and just get the band once on board. We walked right up to the Lab with no wait around 3:30 on embarkation day on the Magic a couple weeks ago.

They are both typically open 9am - 11pm, possibly earlier/later. IF one location is having "open house" (parent must stay) the other is having secured programming (for drop-offs), but otherwise both locations should be open. Open House is scheduled at each location for maybe an hour or two each day.

Enjoy your cruise!
