Ask Me Anything: Ask Carolfoy Anything

Hi Carol - having fun?

It's taken me all morning to read through your pages!

What's the best holiday you've ever booked for one of your clients and did they appreciate it?

What's the funniest thing that's happened at work?

How long have you been a travel agent - (I was one for 5 years)

Have you ever made a big error with somebody's booking?

Do you like other people's kids or do they get on your nerves?

Is there anyone that you HATE with a passion?

Wham or Duran Duran?

Chocolate or jelly sweets?

Cats or dogs?

What was (or maybe is???) your biggest fashion disaster?

How many DISers would it take to change a lightbulb?

Do some posts on the DIS annoy you so much you want to scream? (think refillable mugs, pool hopping etc ;) )

Hi Carol, cripes it has just taken me ages to read this thread. It was great to meet you on Sunday anyway onto the questions:

Which smilie do you like best?
Which smilie don't you like?
If you could invent a new Disney park what would it have in it?
If you weren't a TA what would you be?
Would you live in Florida if you could?
Would you work for Disney if you could?

Hi Carol - I can't believe the first time I've actually had anything to do at work in months and it's your turn :confused3

Anyway, on with the show...

You mentioned in your response to a previous question that you met the love of your life in India.

Have I missed something?

And, if so, what?

Why don't you have a Cornish accent? (And don't say they don't really speak like that down there because they definitely do in St Austell (snozzle!))

Do you believe that there is one person for everyone in the world?

If you hadn't had such a horrendous childbirth experience with Callum would you have more kids?

What is the worst thing about being a parent?

And the best?

What really, really, really annoys you?

What (if anything) makes you cry? (Just so I know for future reference ;) )

That'll do for now :)

Oh Joh - I was wondering where you were :rotfl2: my god, you sure as hell made up for it!
ok, here we go
When I was in India I met a man called Dushyant who is the love of my life, he's a naturalist and lives in the jungle, he's a beautiful person and a real scrumptious dish! (Dishy Dush - get it) anyway its just typical of me to fall in love with someone on a different continent and although we are often in touch by email we will probably never meet again. I am a romantic at heart and probably only like him because he's unobtainable :rotfl2: . Prior to him I was mad about a guy who lived in Japan (see - I never go for the easy option!)
I have the same accent as everyone around me has, except for my Mum who's real devonshire, I guess because Launceston is only 'just' cornwall whereas snozzle is deepest darkest depths they probably do speak a bit different. I've just never really thought about it. I probably trained myself out of it when I worked atthe newspaper and did a lot of public speaking, the ooh-aarrhs don't go down too well unless you're Jethro
No - I definately wouldn't want more kids, I'm quite happy as I am, I'm a pretty crap mother cos if I've got some DIY to do or a new book to read nobody gets fed, cleaned or clothed unless they do it themselves. I just don't have a maternal instinct, unlike my Mum who's the best at being a motherly mum.
the worst thing is the constant guilt that you're crap, that the person you have the most influence over could turn out to be a real bad egg and its all down to you!
the best thing taking all the credit when you've made a real star! :rotfl2: no, really just knowing that you've done your best and that someone loves you unconditionally
what annoys me? somedays absolutely everything and other days nothing, but nothing will get my goat! I hate working all the hours god sends for crap pay, I hate people being ignorant, I hate my fathers racism, I hate people who don't stand right on the tube!, I hate trying to explain the internet to old people who come in the shop and ask you 'have you tried it on the internet dear, my son says its the easiest way?' how do they think we book it? :confused3
what makes me cry?
pretty much everything to do with Disney - it just all touches a raw nerve I can't cope with sentimentality, that, and the thought that I will be single for ever!
is that enough?:rotfl:

yep - enjoying it so far Janet, but its quite hard work!
the best holiday I've booked? monetary wise was around 60K for 2 people on a round the world cruise in best cabins. most interesting was a six month retirement itinerary where the couple went to Thailand, Malaysia, New Zealand and Australia for four months with all hotels, excursions, car hire, etc booked and then a 2 month latter part of a round the world cruise coming back into southampton. The lady had the brilliant idea of having all her ballgowns and dressy clothes fedexed out to Sydney to meet her for the ship so she wouldn't have to carry it all.

funniest thing is hard - we laugh every day usually about he most ridiculous things
I've been doing it for 8 years in september but I had a year out when I was an estate agent.
I make errors all the time! january just gone was hilarious, you must remember what its like, start work at 8 finish at 6 with no loo break, food or drink all day. honestly, my colleague Karen and I were making so many cockups we ended up just checking each others work all the time. Theres never anything you can't fix though as long as you realise the mistake is there and what you've got to do to sort it.

if you could be somebody else for the day, who would you be and why ?

have you ever had the greeny eyed moster really, really badly about someone, if so who and why ?

whats the worst job interview that you've ever had?

whos the rudest person that you've ever met ?

with regards to bad manners is there one thing in particular that really annoys you ?

If Callum shouted from the bathroom, for you to change the fresh air thing after he'd had a poo, would you say "whats wrong darling", like the annoying woman on the advert?

Is there anything that you do that really annoys Callum?

Sounds like you've led a varied and interesting life Carol!

what other jobs have you done?

what's been your favourite job?

what's been your worst job?

what one job in the world would you never do?

What piece of career advice would you give Callum?

ever worn white stills and danced around your handbag ?

Do you like other people's kids or do they get on your nerves?

Is there anyone that you HATE with a passion?

Wham or Duran Duran?

Chocolate or jelly sweets?

Cats or dogs?

Do some posts on the DIS annoy you so much you want to scream? (think refillable mugs, pool hopping etc ;) )

I'm ok with other peoples kids unless they're really badly behaved - when I was around 16/17 I hated kids and would find any excuse to tread on them :rotfl2:

Nah. Never hate anyone, hate is a wasted emotion, you only hurt yourself.

wham or Duran Duran? that's a toughie - I was always a bit suspicious of George Michael (it was the highlights) but totally adored Nick Rhodes, wasn't mad on Simon LB, thought he was just a fat, bad sailor. oooh, Whams' 'Fantastic' album is the best to put on when you're getting ready
chocltae or jelly? can I have both if I promise never to tread on your kids? :rotfl2: no, love both soooo much (as the size of my butt will testify!)

cats, cats and more cats, they know stuff ;) I adore all cats, there's never been a dog that's intelligent, vicious enough or a superior killing machine. My DS is desperate for a dog but I tell him theres a reason why cats have been worshipped. I have yet to see a jaguar or panther but have seen all others in the wild. I really wanted to go and snuggle the tigers when I saw them.

biggest fashion disaster - its ongoing! :rotfl2:
no seriously, remember the Madonna 'like a virgin' thing, all fingerless lace gloves and waistcoats, layers and cheap plastic beads (you do remember, I can tell!) well. I'm still wearing it :rotfl2: no, honestly but I loved it at the time

how many DISers? all ofthem, but they must want to change!

no post annoys me that much, what annoys me more is when people completely flame posters for asking such things or for daring to suggest they might fly economy/TCD/take kids out of school etc it really bugs me sometimes that everyone is convinced that their way is the right way and everyone else is wrong for not wanting a car/villa/onsite deluxe concierge room.

who were you in your previous life?

what are you going to come back as next time ?

OK, you seem to be coping a bit too well with this so time to up the ante a bit :rotfl:

Most embarrassing experience with a member of the opposite sex?

Have you ever wet the bed? As an adult?

Do you remember your dreams?

What are you scared of?

Would you stick by Callum no matter what he did?

Do you get on well with your parents?

How long were you married? Was it truly awful or do you have some happy memories?

What qualifications do you have?

You said before that you don't have regrets (or something along those lines) but is that really true - is there anything you regret having done (or not done)?

Hello dear friend,

If I said I may be visiting Plymouth in July what would your reaction be?

Do you drive and if so what thing really annoys you when you are out on the road?

You still work in a travel agent? have you ever been tempted so say 'computer says no' (as per the Little Britain sketch)

If you are 'Matt's Mother' , I am his 'Uncle' and Josh his 'cousin' what does that make us?

lovely to meet you to Claire, I had a really good time.

smilie I like - :tiptoe: he's really cute

smilie I don't like :dancer: he reminds me too much of 'Billy Wand - paedophile balloon modeller extraordinaire'

a new disney park? wow! its so tough as they've covered a lot of things so well. I really would like one to be built on Bodmin moor that would do me :rotfl2:
If I wasn't a TA I'd like to look after tigers on a conservation area in India
No, I'd never want to live in FL, unless yu happen to be very well off its not a good place financially.
I'd love to work for Disney in imagineering, hotel inspection or sourcing only! I am not nice enough to be on the front line

If Callum murdered someone would you give him a false alibi?

George Clooney is your hubby, he wants to adopt children from all around the world, what do you say?

What colour socks are you wearing today?

3 seater or 2 seater sofa?

Does your cat go through a cat flap?

Corrie or Eastenders?

What colour is your living room carpet?

What colour is your car?

Favourite sandwich filling?

Coke or Pepsi?

I'd like to be anyone rich just to see what its really like :rotfl2:

When my ex husband first got involved with a woman who had two children herself and he took my son around there at every opportunity, I was eaten up by jealousy thinking that they were being a perfect happy family and I was on the outside, alone. Now years later and they've divorced but she and I are good friends she tells me how when he took Callum around there when Cally was about 2 callum was really mean to her and they didn't bond for years - just proves that jealousy is another wasted emotion. I can't feel it any more.
never had a bad job interview - yet!
rudest person, would be any train ticket customer - they really think they're doing you a favour and hardly ever say please or thank you! they are always old too - the youngsters are always nice and polite.
bad manners - sniffing, chewing gum (hate it - so common!) coughing without covering mouth, spitting (why? just why?)

If Callum shouted from the bathroom, for you to change the fresh air thing after he'd had a poo, would you say "whats wrong darling", like the annoying woman on the advert?

no but I'd be amazed if he took drawing paper and pens in whilst doing his biz! had you noticed how clever that whiney kid is to draw his air freshener thing - and how did he get off the loo and post it under the door? minds a boggling!

and for anyone who went to Tony Romas - I bet that's Billy the Wands fave advert :rolleyes1
