Do you ever read "that other board" where everyone goes to say what they can't say on the DIS? If so, have you posted there?

Have tags been removed here because of what people have said over there?

There are a number of boards where posters say things they can't say on the DIS. This is the only one I participate on. To be honest, I don't care a whole lot what people say other places.

I can see a lot of value in having a place to vent and say things you can't say here. I don't have any problem with that, as long as someone doesn't bring nasty arguments from one of those other sites to the DISboards.

I haven't been thru all the pages of this thread yet, but I'll ask anyway. I really wish, when we see that someone who posts often and suddenly disappears, that we can ask anyone if they've seen them. Its a concern thread, so why do we have to pm them, maybe lots of other people are concerned too?

Well, threads should be for everyone, and not private conversations. If you're looking for one specific poster, why wouldn't a private message to that person be the first course of action?

Also, its a daring question and understand if you can't answer it. How much does a sponser of the Dis have to pay to be here? How much does the webmasters make from them?

By Sponsor, do you mean an advertiser? I don't know what they pay, that's entirely up to Pete and Corey. If you mean the regular posters who purchase site sponsorships, those rates are posted here: Dis Site Sponsors. Pete, as the owner of the forums and the one who pays the bills, would be the only party to have a financial stake or benefit from sponsors or advertisers.

If you mention it here you usually get a warning. That's why you don't see it mentioned in many posts.

If a site is in our word filter, don't post it by trying to spell it funny or otherwise circumvent the word filter. If you can't post the name here, it's because that site is not welcome to be posted here.

There can be lots of different reasons (inappropriate content, perhaps they've spammed us or otherwise attempted to take advantage of our site or our members, or they could simply be hostile to the DIS and include content that's not permitted here).

Purposely posting a link to a site that's blocked here can be a bad thing.

Alex is the one who does all the heavy lifting and bears the brunt of the work on the upgrades. The rest of us just wait and offer moral support. Kind of like Alex in is labor, and we're just the family in the waiting room.
