but that would make SENSE.

I thought that when trolls showed up you were supposed to quote it over and over and then start new threads posted all in caps and then jump over to other forums just to make SURE the mods see it but no one else.

Here's another question for you. Are there more posts reported legitimately or out of spite on the CB?

More legitimate reports.

Are there personal wars where one person or group is targeted by another person or group?

Not to any large degree.

Do the mods look at those reports differently?

No, we try to take every reported post at face value and evaluate it on its own (de)merits.

Do the mods give more weight to someone outside of an argument reporting a post?

Not really.

But when someone who is involved in an argument reports the argument (trying to point blame at an adversary), I often find that the person making the report actually deserves (and receives) infraction points.

Just so you know that was just an example! It was a discussion we had one night when we realized we could use certain words like that.

Um, does anyone remember if I ever edited that one post when I was really mad and frustrated a month or 2 ago and thought that the filter was going to take care of my "anger"? I remember we had the discussion. . . Crap on a cracker, I guess I have some searching to do today!

I think this was talked about a lot time ago, but does it make a difference when someone says, Okay, I reported it, and then 50 other people say I am going to go and report it also. Does the NUMBER of reports make things easier or harder? If you KNOW that it has be been reported then should you just sit back and wait or is there some DIS tilt feature that if there are so many reports in a short period of time the Bat Signal gets sent out to all WMs to make sure someone knows what is going on in case (heaven forbid) there is not actually a webmaster on at the time.

Great question!!

When you report a post, an email goes out to each moderator of that forum. When we have a spammer, we'll sometimes get 2 pages full of emails reporting the problem, and of course it takes time to sift through those emails. And that does increase the odds that another reported problem might get overlooked.

So, if you're CERTAIN that a post has been reported, there's no value or advantage in reporting it again. On the other hand, sometimes problem posts do not get reported because posters assume that someone else has reported it already.

Psst, Chatty, You catch more Tag Fairies with honey than with vinegar.

You have to suck up, but not in a demanding or even an asking way. Just make it known that you have the utmost respect for her and worship the ground she walks on/flies over. But don't stalk (much).

Little things like making sure you always add a every time you say the words "Tag Fairy" worship, offering chocolates, and apparently getting in on any thread that involve panty or poo discussions is a huge help!

But I am gonna go out on a limb and say that if you call her mean or ever ask for a tag your chances are pretty much NIL of ever getting a Tag or any color added to your life.

Yeah, that's one I've wondered myself.

But how would you know if a post got points or not since they are "private"? I have seen lots of posts that deserve points, and written some! I have no idea if the other person got points. They don't always delete the "offending" posts. Often they just send them the points. You really have no idea if someone got the points they deserve.
