Thank you! I'm finally starting to feel better. THANK GOODNESS. I work with 4/5 year olds && i've decided they are walking germs. I have never been sick so many times in my life. I get better for 3 or 4 days then i'm sick again. lol

So like everyone else on the boards I am obsessed with etsy.com.

Jordan & I love the movie “Up” we actually went to watch it at a local drive-in… so it made it a little extra special. So I got pretty excited when I saw an adventure book that could be personalized. I just had to get it. I think this will be a great guest book.

I just got it in the mail……

The seller was awesome! She made us a cute title page….

I love the wire hangers that everyone has with the bride & grooms name. I just had to have one. I fell in love with a wooden one with a hanging jewel. I ordered it a couple of weeks ago and can’t wait to see it….

It will look like this but will say Ashley <3 Jordan and I put a bible verse on the back.

Jordan & I are going to start on our first DIY project…. I’m sure it will be the first of many! I love the crystal cake stands but refuse to pay $300+ I'm ordering crystals off line and am looking at using a square piece of cut acrylic. Still working on all the details.

I will keep everyone updated on how it goes.... keep your fingers crossed that i don't screw it up.

In other news.... Jordan & I just can't decide on a date. How did everyone pick theirs? He doesn't care and truthfully i don't either. I think I may just throw a dart at some numbers && whatever it lands on will be our wedding date!

First off, I adore that book! I loved Up! and it's so neat to see them being used.

As for the date (it might be too many opinions), but you could ask the people you most want to be at the wedding when the best time is for them (i.e. easiest to travel or get time of from work). It could at least give you an idea.

Hi! :goodvibes
Love the adventure book! Up was a great movie. Are you guys going with that theme? I found a wonderful link for an up inspired wedding which was to die for, I posted it for another Disbride, I am going to look for it and send it your way!

I also love the hanger, I will be ordering mine very soon!!!!

Yay!! We are getting the adventure book too!! I love that movie...one of my favorites :) I heard that they are coming up with an "UP" 9" vinylmation, and I NEED IT!! We are using our book as a wedding scrapbook :)
Love the hanger!! I think those are adorable!
Can't wait to see all of your DIY projects!!!

Great etsy finds! The way we chose our date...we had to take in a lot of factors. We knew it had to be 2012 because we needed more time to save/prepare. My fiance's Dad owns his own accounting business and can't travel January - April. We didn't want anything when it was too hot, so we ruled out June-September. So we had May, October, November, or December left. Out of those, my favorite time in Disney is November.

As far as the day, we knew we wanted a Monday and we didn't want it to be the week of Thanksgiving or during the NJ teacher's convention. If you have a favorite time of the year at Disney that has low crowds and reasonable travel costs, I'd go with that and then find which day of the week/month works best.

Some people like to choose a date that is already meaningful to them, like their dating or engagement anniversary, or maybe DF's birthday (so he can never forget your anniversary :headache:)

I originally wanted 5/5/12 because it was my grandfather's birthday and he passed away a month before DF proposed (he really liked DF). But it didn't work for other reasons so we chose a different Saturday in May, since we were already focusing on May.

So that may be a good place to start, along with the other suggestions already posted. :goodvibes

I am in my 6th year of teaching Kindergarten. The first few years I was ALWAYS sick! They're so germy! Then my mom (who's a nurse) suggested getting the Dannon Immunity drinkable yogurts and drinking one every night and a couple of teachers and I started drinking them and we've only been sick a few times in the past 2 years! You might wanna try it--couldn't hurt!

I always wanted a spring wedding but since we got engaged in Dec, this spring would be too soon and I didn't want to wait over a year, so we decided to get married on our 5 year anniversary. Maybe you could choose a date that's important to you guys!

First of all, I love your backlot tours pics! I love volunteering for that - I've been a volunteer twice and it was awesome, I played the same "part" both times, hehe.

The Adventure Book is sooo adorable, that will make a fantastic guestbook.

As for the date, although we aren't having a Disney wedding we are having a Disney honeymoon, so I knew that I wanted a wedding either in the spring or the fall so it wouldn't be too crowded when we traveled for our honeymoon (yes, we planned our wedding around potential honeymoon times!). I was originally shooting for October, because I've been to Disney in October before and it's an awesome time to go, but then we realized it may not work out with my grad school schedule. Because my school doesn't start until Sept. 19th, we ended up with an early September wedding. The timing couldn't be better in terms of school, and I think Disney will be nice to visit then as well!

Such a cute book, I had my eye on that one for a while :) You pictures from disney look awesome of you too together, did you use photopass?

Hi 'Ashley Ashley' Still think that is cool! lol

Everything looks soo cool! Especially your adventure book! I love that idea! Up is such a good film!

The cake stand idea is beautiful too! and cant wait to see the final project!

Look forward to hearing more!

Thank you! That's a great idea... I will probably just ask a few people that I REALLy want to be there. (=

I know... it's one of our favs. I would love to see that link. I don't know if it will be an UP theme but I know we want to have some UP elements. Truthfully though my thoughts are still all over the place.

Thanks princess wendy! I plan on getting a different teaching postion in a different county here so it makes it a little harder to chose a date since breaks will be different! =/

Great ideas! DF's b-day is too close to Christmas only 3 days before so i don't think too many people would travel that close. Your ideas helped me! My mom & dad were married in Sept. and so was my grammy && pawpaw. Would be pretty neat if we were married in Sept. too. Just don't know if it would be too hot. GA is hot in then so i know FL will be too. Maybe i will look towards the end of the month. (=

That's awesome! Every teacher i've spoken to said that they were sick their whole first year teaching little ones! Thanks for that advice i will be trying your trick. I am finally filling 100 percent && i want to stay that way. I'm over being sick.

I'm sure disney will be nice in September! Glad everything worked out with your plans for your dis-moon. I fell the same way about having to work around school since i teach... it's tough trying to fit in everyones needs.

I know i just had to snatch one up! The seller i used was awesome. No not this time. We had some family join us so we just utilized them. (=

Thanks Fay! It's so funny to look && see my future name. I hope my stand looks as good as my picture! I would be so happy with that as a final project. (=

I recently found out the annual running of the brides was coming to Atlanta. I knew I wouldn’t be able to be there when the doors open and clear the racks like one of my favorite episodes of friends but I hoped that when I arrived there would still be plenty of women there to fight over some dresses with.
I had never been to an event like this before and thought “Hey if I don’t find a dress at least I got to go into Buckhead and have a great dinner after pushing and shoving some girls to the ground.” So I went out on a limb and invited my mom and grammy to come with me.

We didn’t get there till about six due to Atlanta’s freakish traffic. We had 4.9 miles to turn off for the store and it took about 40 minutes with no car wreaks. I’m so glad I don’t live downtown…. couldn’t handle that on a daily basis.

So if no one has ever been to anything like that before… like me! Then think of Filene’s as a TJ Maxx or Ross type store. You have to comb through every single rack, through every single dress in order to find anything. The store is not set up in anyway…. Dresses are NOT sorted by color, size or style. My OCD kicked in right after I entered the door. I really CANNOT shop at Ross because they are the worlds worst at organizing their racks…. It drives me bananas.

Glad I had my mom there because I literally only picked up one dress…. Hahaha! She was up to her neck in dresses. I really don’t know how she was carrying so many because those things are heavy, wish I would have taken her picture now because she’s such a small, petite woman it was quite funny. :rotfl:

So I thought I would also add I’ve never seen so many women in their bra and panties in my life! Everyone just striped down to their skives and tried on dresses. CRAZY! My biggest complaint about that store was they had no mirrors. Six or seven women were fighting over this tiny little mirror in the corner of the store. I think there were maybe three or four more but defiantly not enough for the amount of women that were there.

So the one dress that I picked out was an epic fail! My grammy picked up one dress and it was a success…. Loves it! This is what I envisioned myself wearing on my wedding day. Trumpet style gown with a train. WHITE!

I fell in love with three of my mom’s choices.

I really adored one it had a beautiful long train, lace and beads. The bottom of the dress looked like it had been dragged through the local Wal-Mart. It was terrible. I thought well maybe I can get past that and have it cleaned… but then I discovered several small holes in the lace. Crushed me… but I wasn’t going to buy a dirty dress with holes…. So back to the rack it went.

Sorry no picture. =(

The next one was an off shade of white… I had really imagined myself in white because it’s the only time in your life when wearing a big white dress is okay. I was in love with this dress through. It had a little bit of jewels and LOTS of lace and a train.

The next dress was another white dress…. Beaded top and this organza ruffled flowy bottom. It was so lite and airy. It was a contender.

0318111950-00.jpg

Now I was stuck…. Three beautiful dresses and I loved each of them. Well after trying each of them back on three or four more times I decided to put the ruffled dress back on the rack.

I could NOT decide between the lacey dress or my dream white dress. I loved how each looked… both so different. It was literally a tie. People were 50/50. Half of the people around me liked choice A and the other half liked choice B.

I walked with both dresses to the counter and just really wanted to buy both of them. Oh if I only could have! My dream dress needed a lot of work! I’m so skinny it would need to be taken in. It had this awful netted top and I wanted some more beads. The lacey dress just needed to be taken in and that was it. The big moment came… it was my turn to pay! Which dress do I choose?

I ended up choosing my DREAM dress. It really was the toughest decision I’ve had to make with my wedding so far. && guess what I only paid = $330. Wahoo. Both dress retailed for a little over $1200 each.

After all that trouble I think it was worth it! I got a great deal on a beautiful dress. MY dress and now I get to personalize it… no one will have a dress like me. (=

MORE pictures to come.

Gorgeous, wonderful choice! You look amazing in all of the dresses. Congrats on finding the dress!
