Ashford and surrounds

There is a drop off point at the station door so that would probably be the best thing. Although the car park is right next to the station if it's busy you still could end up with a 5-10 minute walk from the far end of the car park.

Glad I could help with the camping. Two chimneys is a very nice site there are plenty of things to do in thanet including some lovely beaches all around the Thanet coast.

Thanks for the great advice, I had a quick look on Google maps at the station and I can see where the drop off is so looks handy. I'll allow 15 mins for parking and then some! It's all a balance of sleep (especially as we'll probably do the fireworks first night) versus time to the train. I suspect the kids won't sleep on the trains (they might) as we lifted the kids into the car at about 5am last year and DS was awake the whole trip though DD slept for an hour or so.

We're almost set on two chimneys, the other option being down Brighton or Eastbourne way but I suspect it will be much of a muchness weatherise and I like the look of Two Chimneys.

We're kind of finalising things to to and am considering doing Pizza Express in Ashford. Google maps takes me to what looks like a closed off street which I assume is a pedestrianised high street. I'm guessing we should be ok for parking after about 6pm? It doesn't look a long drive from our accommodation so I think it might be the preferred option as we like it more than Pizza Hut though that is next to the hotel.

There's a Cineworld :3dglasses fairly close by as well though I suspect we'll want an early night.

The Pizza Express is in the pedestrian area of the town. They used to open the gates to traffic after 5:30 (I assume they still do) and there is limited on street parking toughout the town. If you can't find a space on the roads parking is free in the town centre car parks after 6. Vicarage lane car park is probably most convenient for pizza express. Cut through an alley at the top of the carpark beside the bingo and it's only a 5 min walk.

If you are looking for other entertainment there is a bowling alley at the other end of the vicarage lane car park, so you could park up and do both if you wanted.
