Sooo I've been crazy busy planning out our Disneymoon for October. I was talking a friend of mine and I made the comment "All I have left to do is buy our Bride and groom ears and pins!" And her response? "Ugh, you're one of THOSE people? You know you'll look like an idiot advertising yourself for free stuff".

For my, that's not the intention AT ALL!!!!!!!!!! This is our honeymoon that we've been working towards since our wedding in February!!!! It's also my DH's first time! When I'm there for Christmas, I wear my minnie santa ears the entire time, so why wouldn't I wear my bride ears and button?? Do people really think this of the people wearing their B & G ears? I've NEVER expected ANYTHING free from Disney! I'm quite appalled at her comments, but now I'm second guessing wearing them

Opinions?

Forget that person, they are a hater. You do what you want and have fun, that person seems very negative. I've seen people wear those ears so clearly people do it all the time.

You are so similar to my husband and me! ;) We got married Jan 2013 and Honeymooned in the world in Oct 2013 and it was my hubby’s first trip. I wore the bride veil head band most of the trip and it was fun! Not just CM’s but a lot of guest congratulated us it was a really great feeling! And we saw so many other couples too. DH wore his for a few pictures but liked the blinking Mickey Headband because the hats are just so darn hot! Your friend in a spoil sport, wear the ears! For me it felt like such a rite of passage and it was something I had always wanted to do. I didn’t give a darn about a big wedding or fancy dress but I wanted those ears!
DH and I had such a wonderful time we will be headed back to the world in Nov 2015, not soon enough but travel from Alaska is $$. Congratulations enjoy!:thumbsup2!

We're getting married and having our Disneymoon in December. I already have our ears and Just Married pins waiting.

On a related note, we were engaged at WDW last fall, and we wore just engaged pins the rest of trip. We received very few free items. The real benefit of the pins was so many people asked us about our engagement. I enjoyed being able to tell the story, and so many people just gave us wonderful advice and congratulations!

Enjoy your ears and pins!!

I think it is so sweet when I see brides and grooms with their ears and pins! Wear and enjoy! Don't let this person get you down. Enjoy your honeymoon!

My son got married at a beautiful plantation. When we gathered in the ballroom for the presentation of the bride and groom, they walked out with the bride and groom Mickey/Minnie ears and everyone loved it!
They loved everyone at Disney (they disneymooned too) wishing them the best!

My hubbs and I actually had the opposite happen...We had lots of CMs ask why we weren't wearing the ears! Haha! My hubbs wasn't interested in the groom ears and I accidentally left my bride ears at home. We did find some Just Married pins though...Which was perfect for us!

No, I don't think the majority of people wearing bride and groom Mickey ears are expecting free stuff, but apparently some couples DO expect it.

Totally wear them if you want. My honeymoon is in Feb and I already have the ears sitting in a box waiting for the day to come for us to show them off!

My husband didn't wear the top hat (our honeymoon was back when they had the top hat), but I wore my bride ears headband everywhere.

I loved wearing them! My husband thought they were cute! I got stopped a lot and told how cute they were!

These quotes are the reasons I think most couples (especially wives) wear them. To advertise how special they are and revel in the attention it brings.

I would never wear those, but I would never tell anybody else that they are stupid for wanting to wear them. That's why Disney sells the darn things. Your friend is a jerk.

Don't think they are going to guarantee you any free stuff though.

I wouldn't wear them either, and normally I wouldn't tell people my thoughts about them without being asked. The OP did ask for opinions.

I doubt the OP thinks the things will guarantee free stuff, but it's a good warning because some people DO expect free stuff for whatever reason.

If you just got married (aka one of the happiest times of their lives), and are at Disney World (aka the happiest place on earth), what is wrong with wanting to show off your happiness and that you are newlyweds?

If you don't like it, whatever that is fine; nobody is putting a gun to your head to congratulate people with bride ears. Ignore it if you wish, but IMO it is just plain wrong to make people feel bad for wearing them. A Disneymoon is something a lot of us wait our entire lives for, and the privilege of *finally* being the one wearing the bride ears and having your happily ever after is part of that.

Wanting to show off your ears =/= fishing for free stuff, and I think it was very rude for you to imply that the above posters are just looking for free things.

My DH and I were giving bride and groom ears on our honeymoon. I would not hesitate to wear them at Disney, but I find the elastic strap under the chin really uncomfortable, so I don't wear Mouse Ears.

I would never wear them in the 'real' world, but at Disney? I throw most fashion rules out the window. You can spot me easily - I'm the one wearing socks with sandals.

Ignore your friend and dress how you want on YOUR honeymoon!

Wear the ears! We were given special ears by a CM for the Year of a Million Dreams promotion and I can guarantee we wore them everywhere. Leave the strap up in the ears, don't tuck it under your chin.

Sounds like a strange envious friend to me. Wear your 'ears' and enjoy!! pixiedust:

Or go for the bride headband. I find the headbands way more comfortable, personally, it has a nice long veil!

Congratulations!! Wear your ears proudly! We were at Disney the last week of July and saw many lovely couples wearing bride and groom ears.

We also saw a handful of not so lovely couples wearing the B&G ears who seemed to forget that they were in line with many other people and not alone in their hotel room. :crazy2::crazy2:

Even at the age of 34, I still constantly worry about what people think of me. I feel foolish even wearing a hat even though I really need the shade my sensitive skin from the sun. Please celebrate yourself and your confidence. When I see people wearing their ears I admire their confidence and willingness to be silly for the fun of it. People who criticize are just jealous of your confidence, and instead of admiring you for it, they turn it into something negative.

Wear the ears! My best memories were of my honeymoon trip wearing my ears. I still have my bride ears and sometimes put them on if I am having a bad day.

I sure hope you wore the ears!
I didn't even know they existed, I'm glad I ran across this post.

I'm a big kid at heart, I refuse to grow up. Once you grow up, life gets boring.

I'm going to order me and my beautiful fiancee a pair for our disneymoon this coming April. She knows I'll wear them, I don't know the definition of being embarrassed.

It's going to be my first time ever going to any place disney, my 33rd birthday, and my honeymoon... I have the right to have fun and by George I will.

i bet that friend is loads of fun at parties.:crazy2: i hope you wore the ears, even if it was just for a little bit. just have fun and do what you want. you don't answer to your friend or anyone else because it's YOUR vacation. they can plan their own miserably stuffy, boring, and perfectly reserved vacation on their own dime.

Methinks your friend's jealousy is showing.

You both wear your ears with pride and enjoy every moment of your celebration. I'll be there with my dad (he goes around Orlando toting a purple mohawk haircut all glittered up with pixie dust) in October. Our travel dates are Sep 25-Oct 15. If you happen to see us, say hi.

Think about the kind of people that care enough about what others wear as a head accessory in Disney World to be annoyed about it.
Do you really want to consider these people's opinions?

Yeah, me neither.
