Wear them! DH and I wore them and buttons on our Disneymoon. Ignore your friend who obviously does not have a Disney side.

The best reaction we got was from a cm at Haunted Mansion said, just married, my condolences. Loved it!

The friend sounds like she could use a lesson in the concept of "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all".

Like others who have posted, the last thing that would come to my mind when seeing people wear those ears is that they're promoting themselves, except maybe for a congratulatory mention by CMs and guests. I think it's cute. I'd hate to hear what this person would say if she saw me at Disneyworld wearing my Kentucky blue. :)

Wear those ears with pride!

I enjoy seeing honeymoon couples wearing bride and groom ears. I think it's cute. If it gets you free stuff, so be it. If the CMs are given leeway to help people celebrate, why should anyone be ashamed to accept a nice gesture? Getting married is a huge milestone. You should celebrate!

I wore a birthday button on my 40th birthday at Disneyland. A CM at a quick service place gave us 15% off our meal. After we sat down to eat, another came running out and gave me a Mickey rice crispy treat and said, "Here! Happy Birthday." It was awesome, but not expected. I'm going to DL in December for my 50th (gulp!). I plan to wear a button again, not because I expect free stuff, but because it's my birthday and I'm at Disneyland, dang it!:)

Been reading this site for over a year and finally saw something that I could respond to...

My DW and I honeymooned at WDW in May. She wore bride ears nearly every day and I wore groom ears a few times. We wore our honeymoon pins every day. I did not notice any snarky looks, comments, or eye-rolls. You will not have any issues with anybody like your friend there.

We were there for 10 days and the only free stuff we got was The Grey Stuff at BOG and a basic cupcake at Chef Mickey's (which is a buffet so it's not special to get a cupcake). So it's not like you're going to get showered with freebies all over the place. Many CM's and guests were very nice to us and wished us well, which was fun. We got a seat right in front of the aquarium at Coral Reef but I'm not sure if that was because of the ears or because we were first in line when they opened.

I'm a pretty snarky person and I never thought a single bad thing about anybody wearing the ears, I was just happy for them. I think your friend is an extreme outlier, and probably isn't aware of that small freebies that you do get. It's not like Mickey is going to escort you around all the parks, skipping every line.

I always see brides and grooms with their ears, I always wish them the best and congratulations. Enjoy your ears, and....best wishes, congratulations.

How awesome would that be?!!?

Thank you EVERYONE for you encouragement! My DH is totally geeked out (it's his first trip!) and all about wearing the ears. As am I. It's DISNEY. I guess I was just so taken a back by her comment-I developed a small paranoia! I'm going to wear my ears with pride!!!! And if I get blessed with magic pixie dust, I will be glad to send her pictures :lmao:
I'm just glad I'm going to Disney! This is my dream come true!

I also love seeing the B&G ears. Wear them with pride!

My DH and I are going next month for our 30th anniversary. We also Disneymooned way back in the dark ages, although I don't think they had B&G ears then. (They only had MK and Epcot, which was new. Probably before you were born. Yikes)

Anyway, he has been asking me about matching T-shirts. (Yes, we are THAT couple...) If we worried about what other people thought all the time we'd never leave the house. ;)

Absolutely wear them!

Am I a little bit jealous? Heck yeah, I am, but that's because I can't wait until the day we get to wear ours. :cool2:

Be as silly and goofy as you can be. Don't ever lose that.

Sooo I've been crazy busy planning out our Disneymoon for October. I was talking a friend of mine and I made the comment "All I have left to do is buy our Bride and groom ears and pins!" And her response? "Ugh, you're one of THOSE people? You know you'll look like an idiot advertising yourself for free stuff".

For my, that's not the intention AT ALL!!!!!!!!!! This is our honeymoon that we've been working towards since our wedding in February!!!! It's also my DH's first time! When I'm there for Christmas, I wear my minnie santa ears the entire time, so why wouldn't I wear my bride ears and button?? Do people really think this of the people wearing their B & G ears? I've NEVER expected ANYTHING free from Disney! I'm quite appalled at her comments, but now I'm second guessing wearing them :confused:I

Opinions?
.......I was just there in July, saw tons of people wearing bride and groom ears or bride and bride, groom and groom ears, I always said congratulations!!! Wear your ears with pride!!!!

My husband didn't wear the top hat (our honeymoon was back when they had the top hat), but I wore my bride ears headband everywhere.

I loved wearing them! My husband thought they were cute! I got stopped a lot and told how cute they were!

YAY!!! :thumbsup2

Your friend is just plain WRONG! Wear them and have fun. We bought wedding ears on our honeymoon in 1996 and wore them the whole time. We did have great interactions with the characters(Mickey kept putting my veil over my face ) and we did get some free desserts when we would order our food but we did not expect it. We are planning a 25th anniversary trip and I will be pulling out our original wedding ears to wear on that trip. It's funny how much the ears have changed since 1996!

Some people are introverted. :confused3 Maybe SHE wouldn't wear them (I couldn't either when we went... way too self conscious!) but good for you for going for it! :thumbsup2

It sounds like she is jealous (and maybe HER husband wouldn't wear them!!)

Wear them with PRIDE!!!

(and take pictures of the things you get for free to show her how much you SAVED with your ears!)

Agree !! We always get comments about us goign to Disney with out kids . People always look to rain on YOUR Disney parade enjoy those ears! My fiance can not wait till our honeymoon in Disney next year and is already thinking of buying them on our trip next month .

I would never wear those, but I would never tell anybody else that they are stupid for wanting to wear them. That's why Disney sells the darn things. Your friend is a jerk.

Don't think they are going to guarantee you any free stuff though.

The ears aren't my style but everyone should be free to be individual. If there's one place where whimsy should be encouraged its Disney!

Girl, you wear those Bride and Groom ears with PRIDE! Who cares what anyone else thinks?! When DH and I honeymooned at WDW 22+ years ago, the term "Disneymoon" was unheard of, and there were no such things as Bride and Groom Mickey ears.

Now, every time we go to WDW and see a pair of Bride and Groom ears, we make sure to congratulate the couple! :goodvibes:

ETA: I might just buy a pair of them for our 25th anniversary trip in 2017!

In my 40 plus trips I have never visited with just DH...I am totally jealous of new brides and grooms :) only slightly kidding. Wear them and celebrate your honeymoon!!!

For pete sake dont listen to that person. Wear your ears with pride and love. When i see the "just married" ears its bring me back to my DW and a warm smile. Enjoy your honeymoon at WDW.
