My vote would be the Christmas Surprise NYE trip. I have always wanted to go at that time, such a fantastic start to a New Year!

:yay::yay::yay: I just booked NYE RPC TPV. Only for 1 night (that's all I can afford :rotfl:) but how perfect...I'll work the rest of the trip around that perfect night :cloud9:

We've got alot of 3rd graders in the RC family! DD8 starts 3rd grade in the fall as well. :woohoo:
add me to this list! My youngest will be in 3rd grade this year!

So I am doing some advance planning.....

WWYD. Family trip....

DH has off in November....November 12th-18th

or surprise them on Christmas with a NYE trip...(this would impact my attendance for the RC Jan trip though...:confused3)

just hang on and book F&G in March 2013...

Resort..thinking split stay...RPC (especially fo NYE) then AoA

ok go! popcorn::

Ohhh tough one! I think the weather is so perfect in November and all the decorations are up so its a great time to visit. But, I love the idea of a Christmas gift too. Honestly, I probably lean towards November because of lower crowds!

It is for all of us...and now I want to go in November too :confused3 Maybe I'll book both...:rotfl: I have some time to decide right

Hi everyone! We got back a little while ago...had a great weekend, it was so nice to relax, swim, hike, and see some nature! And um oh yeah, have some meltdowns! Yesterday it was raining all day and the girls were going loopy!! DH called it our "Downtown Disney Day"! :rotfl: Yes, we were THAT family last year at DD, with crying girls that could be heard all over!

Sounds like a lot going on with the RCers this weekend! I missed chatting! But it is nice to know I can go without for a couple of days!! ;)

I will try and post a few pics later!:goodvibes

 I hope everyone is well and happily planning and/or scheming some WDW vacations:goodvibes

Checking in! My one day off and it's pouring. I slept in until 12. I'm gonna hangout in the room till it lets up a bit. I found a couple places I liked, just need to go home and talk to DH. Movies is great :) except the Downtown Disney bus.

Friday I woke up and my right eye hurt so bad. After I took my contact out and calmed it down... I had a corneal ulcer. I called my eye doctor at home and the front desk said he'd call me back. I couldn't see out of it, and it was a watering mess. Finally he called 4 hours later and I turned into the first Walgreens I saw. He called me in Cipro drops. I was in a rough part of town and I was at the pharmacy for 2 hours. The drops have helped, but I didn't bring my RX sunglasses with me, and regular glasses in the rain don't really work.

That's about all the excitement. Congrats on the new job Jeanette!

I'm gonna go find something to do!
That was an awful ordeal and now this storm. I hope this doesn't sour you on living there - at least you know where the bad side of town is now:upsidedow. Are you feeling better with the Cipro?

Update: Just heard that Lake Buena Vista is under a tornado watch until 2 p.m. and TS Debby is hitting there full force right now (yesterday too). Love, prayer and positive thoughts to all our RCers in the World right now.

Good Morning, RC family! :goodvibes

Sorry I haven't been around much...just a few tough days here, but will catch up today. ::yes::

Have a great Monday!! TS Debby heading this way later this week. Be safe all in her path!
I'm sorry you've been having some tough days:hug:, but welcome back:goodvibes

I was awoken to those lovely boomers  Thanks Sheila  Finally got DH on board with my job change :cool1:
Two WOOTS for DH being on board now:thumbsup2

I remember DD13 when she was about 5 having a complete baby breakdown on the balcony at WL. I've always wondered what goes through their little heads when they just totally loose it like that. You know it'll pass, but it's still hard to watch - especially for innocent bystanders.

Your weekend sounded great and I'm looking forward to your photos.

 You baled on our RC January trip?!

Of course, NYE and that week would be a wonderful time to be at WDW with your family!:goodvibes

I'm sorry you've been having some tough days:hug:, but welcome back:goodvibes

Thanks KOOK and JC - it was just one of those weekends. I lived in the heart of Cambridge, MA for 39 years, walked about 6 miles a day to/from work and in the summer (no school) still walked at least 3 mi a day. Here we have no sidewalks and no where to walk...6 yrs of this and being so isolated gets to me sometimes (I don't drive)...but not complaining as I am otherwise very blessed...my precious DGD and DD.

Welcome back, Jenny! Looking forward to hearing about the weekend!:goodvibes

I just booked my trip! :cheer2: It is $478.13 for four nights. I know my mom hates that I am so impatient, but I can't risk not staying at AoA! Now to wait to make ADRs.

Between now and January you will very likely be able to apply at least a small discount...and I saw your mention of Monday being less than the weekend - I am sure one of our RCers already let you know that Sun is not considered a weekend rate. :thumbsup2

Your mom just doesn't understand how it is best to book in advance to be sure to get the resort and room you want! ::yes::

Congrats!! :woohoo:

Hello RCers! We've been busy working on plans for our cruise in August, so I haven't been on the resort boards as much lately. But I wanted to stop by to say hello and confess our many resort changes for January 2013!

First, Deena, hope you're feeling better. I've been watching for more updates on your TR - enjoying everything you've shared so far. Pas, sounds like a new job and a tough vacation decision! I vote for the Christmas surprise if it's in the budget - so fun! I usually try to avoid busy times, but I have to say that the week after Easter this year was great (other than the resort rates) because the parks opened super early and we could do so much before the crowds arrived. Mousemommy, glad I'm not the only one who cried at Brave! We saw it Friday afternoon and I have to say that I feel much better about our beloved Pixar after seeing this (Cars 2 was not a favorite of mine, but the boys loved it, so that's what's most important.)

So we've gone through so many changes to our January plans. We want to make sure my husband has a great time and is a primary decision-maker for this trip. That means CL for the entire week and a split between two resorts. (We'll try GF and CR on separate visits - the boys want to try these and our middle son was really lobbying for the 6 nights/6 resorts, but we don't want to push it.) Poly CL (especially given the reviews from padawans and luv) was a clear choice on the monorail. And my husband chose BWI CL for the Epcot area. Surprising because BC is our favorite, but if we're staying CL, my husband prefers the CL at BWI. (Our boys and I have APs valid until next April, so we'll see if we can still get to BC before they expire.)

So even though I've been staying at Poly since childhood, this will be our first CL stay there! Happy to hear more about it from anyone who would like to share!

According to Mousesavers, January discounts come out the end of September or early October so I'm hoping that will be the same for this year! :goodvibes

Too bad I can only stay for 5 days so Monday through Friday is perfectly fine with me. :thumbsup2

She doesn't! She doesn't know how Disney works as well as I do. ;) If I were to wait 'til September or October like she wants me to, I could possibly miss out on a LM room! I know January is a slow time, but it's a new room so who knows. If rooms are available around the time my mom wants to book, I'll let her book and I'll cancel my reservation. She won't know that I booked unless the rooms are filled up when she wants to make a reservation.

I was looking through pictures a year or so ago and I saw a picture of my mom with Robin Hood and another picture with Minnie in a kimono. My parents went for their honeymoon and I think another time in the early 90's. I wish I saw Robin Hood! He's one of my favorite Disney heroes!

I'm looking at my reservation and it says that for three nights it's $100/night and one night it is $125. Is Thursday considered a weekend? I may have to change my reservation to the 6th-11th if that's the case.

I am officially green with envy. Can you imagine watching the fireworks from your balcony at midnight on NYE :cloud9: If I recall correctly the fireworks are shown 2x on NYE.

Friday and Saturday are the weekend rate nights

That's what I thought. I'm staying 'til Friday, but I'm not staying Friday night so why would I be charged $125 for Thursday? :confused3 I will probably call back tomorrow and see why that is.

I bet your dates fall during two different room rate times

Have you checked the dates for the Marathon? Rates often go up for those dates and many begin arriving on Thursday. :thumbsup2

I checked the calendar and that is the case! I might change my dates and go the 6th-10th, but I'm not sure what I want to do.

1/10/2013 - 1/13/2013 is Disney's Marathon Weekend...it is definitely crowded, but if you switch to leaving on the 10th, then you'd be leaving the day all the marathon participants arrive.

The 5K is Fri, Half is Sat and full is Sun. So leaving Thursday you will miss the crowds for sure.:thumbsup2

Our RC Weekend is set for Jan 11, but we'd be wise to look at other dates because it is a very busy time and not usually any discounts, unless booked with one of the travel agencies who get special rates - but even those rates will not be great. ::yes::

Oh man. I would probably change the dates for the RC Weekend because of the crowds.
