I love my mommy.
sounds like an interesting instrument! I tried to convince Evan to play the sax or even drums...but he was stuck on the trombone and now the tuba. thank heavens the tuba is too big to be brought home!Yeah, I know. You should hear my daughter learning to play dombra- a 2 stringed local guitar like thingy. Getting better each day, but oh, the torture. I love that she's trying.
Our jazz band in HS was actually pretty good. Several went on with music careers and they cut several albums those years I was there. Not a bad listen.
Wow! So now you have me thinking what would I want on my tombstone.
middle school band is the WORST!! I think there's a special spot in heaven reserved for band teachers. padded...but special. So funny, but yet so true!!!
Ah... a Mother's love....

thanks....I'm not sure they'd agree with the lucky part yet, but I tell them all the time how lucky they are. What a sweet (and oh so true!) sentiment! Your kids are so lucky to have you for their mom!

Welcome!!FINALLY, 2 days ago I started reading this report and I finally finished LOL
When I was in Disney Nov/Dec 08 I got a mini photopass card from Tink too. I loved it. I kept it on my wrist, it was so much better than remembering what pocket I shoved the regular size one in. Did you know your mini photopass can be reused? As long as you use it 1 year after you got it. This is what Tink's "helper" told me. I am not sure if this is true since I went back to Disney Sept/Oct 09 and that's not a year from my Nov/Dec 08 trip so i didn't get a chance to see if it was true or not. I still have it so I'll check next year.
I am "Pooh" sized so I find it funny that you feel the same way I do next to those tiny fairies. I see Tink at least twice a trip. I trying to see when they shrink me and bring me back to normal size if they can keep a couple of pounds. SO far it has not worked outbut I can try right
Great report now that I'm caught up I can't wait to read more.
with 3 boys I should have learned to embrace cub scouts, but it hasn't worked. And now that Ethan's the last, I figure why bother.Especially pack meetings and root canals. Although I'll take a pack meeting over the dreaded popcorn sale.
.
I love my mommy.
Sometimes in the life of a mother there are things you do for your kids that make you question your sanity. Heck, what am I saying...sometimes? more like daily!
But tonight was a double whammy. Cub Scout pack meeting and a band concert. Normally, I enjoy pack meetings about as much as a root canal in Disney world but tack on a 2 hour band concert to the end of the evening and it makes the 15 boys yelling and running around for an hour seem like a day at the beach.
The band concert wouldn't be quite so bad, but Evan is in Jazz band also. I rate Jazz music about a hair above rap. As I was sitting in the packed, overheated theater, I looked around and noticed that almost everyone there had the same glazed over expression. There were a few who looked to be enjoying themselves but I think they all just turned their hearing aids off.
At least Evan is in High School now, so you can actually tell they're all playing the same song....his band in middle school managed to ruin the chicken dance. I didn't think it was possible to make the chicken dance worse but the 7th and 8th graders found a way that year.
It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't last so long. I think each piece lasts 10 minutes. Or how about playing something we have heard before or recognize?
Why you may ask do I do sit through these year after blessed year? Well, it's because I'm a mom. When I gave birth to that boy 16 years ago, I never imagined the pride I'd feel watching him play the tuba and trombone.
So, I sit through the concert with tears in my eyes....some from pride and some from pain.
When I die, I want my tombstone to read....Loving Mother who endured cub scouts and band concerts just because she loved us.
SO, SO, SO TRUE!!!!!!! I am loving every stinkin' minute of it and still have tons of moments like that ahead of me since mine is only 5. I can't wait!!
I was really excited to see Rabbit...my kids had no idea who he was.I've never seen Rabbit or Max! Those are both great characters! Lucky!
!
Maybe you'll luck out like me and your son will go to school to be a band director. My oldest should finish in the spring. I see lots more band concerts in my future. We're going to see him march for the last time on the 7th. Of course college band is much better than middle school band.
I'm sure that band at the college level is alot better! You must be really proud of your son!
I became the proud owner of the shirt.![]()
if I go insane or become senile at an early age....it's because of band practice. We still haven't seen the troll!! Just haven't made it into that gift shop yet. Now I'll always think of it as MIL's boyfriend!!!
My 5 year old just asked for a drum set. The problem is as far as I can tell she does not have any rhythm (that does not look like it's spelled right)...honestly she's in dance right now...it's one where they try all the different types to find which one she's interested in. The tap section is hysterical....she never seems to tap in time with everyone else.
Sorry that you guys got sick on this trip! On our last trip our youngest got sick one night. She shot up to 104...but by the next day was fine. I believe it was from her licking everything in sight ( yes I did try to stop her!)...in her defense she was just one and half but ugh! Regardless of the cause it's not any fun to get sick at WDW!
Looking forward to more!
I am so jealous. Enjoy that shirt!!
Okay, Cherie!! I am finally on page 27 and had to comment. OH MY GOSH!! When I saw your pictures of Cannon beach I immediately turned to my hubby and said, "Um, honey. I have to ask you something. If I am correct all you need to do is look at me and say good job honey!!" Then I showed him the beach pictures and I said, "I think this is the beach from The Goonies! (one of my favorite movies) He took one look and then said, drum roll please..................................
"Good job honey!"![]()
But what I saw next was a Disney Miracle!!
MIL, who was limping 2 seconds before, made a charge for the penguin and jumped up into the air, not once but twice, and did heel clicks.
Even the kids couldn't believe how fast she recovered.
