As God as my witness.I'll never be sick at Disney World again~~~wrapping things up...

Been away from the Disboards for a couple weeks (trying to prove to myself I can survive without being on the 'net or watching TV everyday.....).

Still loving your trip reports!

Re Evan's Missionary encounter:
Mid Sept 09, as we entered Spaceship Earth, my cousin recognized a CM as being a missionary who had served in/near Saint John, New Brunswick (her ward): he was finished his mission and now on the college program working at WDW. He was saying there were quite a few LDS on the college program.

Next stop: Glenbo's TR
Then.... onward!
Evan is hoping to do the college program after his mission....he'd really like a mission to disneyworld, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

A long time ago...like 30 years, my aunt served a mission in Newfoundland...just a little useless fyi. :)

That's the enthusiasm I like to see!

:rotfl2:

Bet she really loved the weather. NOT!
(was she in Gander? that's where my cousin/family were 30 years ago)

I'm rethinking my strategy of visiting WDW in Sep... it was so hot there last 2 years and then I come home to cold, wet, windy weather. Can't wait for summer... July is a long way away!

I just wanted to let you know I am still here. I am just crazy busy babysitting. I don't have much time to post but I am reading along. I bet you could catch your MIL by the neck with that cane sometimes. LOL I saw those penguines too but I didn't know what movie they were from then we bought Mary Popins and I saw them.

It wasn't hard going home in feb this year because it was nearly as cold in florida as it was here.
I'm not sure where she was exactly...I just remember newfoundland because it's a funny sounding place.

LAURA!!!!!!!
I'm so glad you posted so we know you're still around! How is that little cutie of yours doing? Well, all your kids are cute but that baby is so cute it makes my ovaries hurt!

Well I am finally here and enjoying your trip report a lot. Your family is just so much as to what I envision my family to be like when I have kids. My husband and I are very young(VERY EARLY TWENTIES) but your family just seems to mesh so weel..even MIL and even though I know she drove you crazy I think she fits in so well. You really know how to handle her! Well I am just here to tell you I have throughly enjoyed reading and can't wait for more!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:cool1:

Finally all caught up!
Fresh home from a week in the world and love seeing the pictures to ease the withdrawal.

If I ever had a thought of taking my MIL to WDW I am over it. It would be very similar to your experience and I am good just reading about yours and not having to actually endure it. :rotfl::rotfl:

I had to laugh about you being very young....I was married at 18 and had a baby at 19...and the closer my kids get to that age, the younger it seems.

I really do have a great dh and kids. Far from perfect, but who am I to complain?;)

yes, you should. It would be entertaing for the rest of us.:thumbsup2

I just can't believe that you were able to get MIL to go away for an hour! I think I would have hidden. You are such a nice DIL.

Can totally relate to that!! Ahhh, if I were only 35 again...:confused3:rolleyes1

:rotfl2:

I would have had at least 6 kids if I could. But, my body and pregnancy don't like eachother. My dr didn't want me to have any after my 2nd.

After MIL was healed by the mighty penguin, we stopped to watch the actors in Italy. I must really be a dork because I never get tired of watching the same skit. It's so bad it's funny.

D.Jay and the boys headed off to get the kim-municator for their mission. The rest of us checked out some shops and then we all met up near American Adventure.

Once we were all together again, we headed in to listen to Voices of Liberty. I don't have words to describe how I feel when I listen to them...but I get chills and cry every time.
They sang The battle hymn of the republic, like I've never heard it before. I get goosebumps just thinking about it.

I guess you could say I was raised in a very patriotic family. There is a long line of military service in my family, back to the Revolutionary war.
Both of my grandfathers were in the Marines durring WWII. I've listened to their stories and what compelled them to enlist and I am in awe of that generation.

Ok, so you're probably wondering why I'm telling you all of this. But I thought it might help explain my response to something.

The final scene of The American Adventure had just closed and the house lights came on, when from a few rows away, an elderly man stood up before anyone else had moved and yelled "God bless America".

I automaticaly thought about my grandpa's and my ancestors who have fought for freedom.

No one moved for a few seconds...I think you could have heard a pin drop. I left the theater wishing that my grandpa's were still alive so I could call them and thank them. Instead, when we got home, I took down the flag from my grandpa's funeral, that was in the back of a closet and put it somewhere that I will see everyday.

Ok, back to disney! Well, actually that is part of disney. Where else can you experience so many countries in one day and enjoy the beauty they all offer? I truly believe all countries and cultures should be celebrated. They all have some good and bad. And I'm glad that World Showcase gives me the chance to focus on the good.

Once I had "collected" myself and made sure I didn't have racoon eyes, we headed out. We found some characters right outside the building. I'd never seen any here before and as a bonus there were 2 we had never met before!

up next...I get excited....

I love the Disney Miracle! :rotfl2::rotfl2: DH's mom would so do the same thing! We are planning to take her on a road trip to see her son in the Spring - am I crazy? :headache: I think so, but it needs to happen. I loved the pic of the kids in China! Your patriotic reaction to the voices of Liberty is so great! More people need to stop and remember why we have our freedom!:thumbsup2

I got chills just reading your update. My grandfather was also in WWII and my stepson is in the army now. I try to thank them both frequently.

Great pictures!!!

Denise

I loved reading about your experience at the American Adventure. I was raised in a very similar family, and my dad was in the Navy for 22 years, so I get all misty-eyed about things like that, too. :goodvibes

The pics with your kids and all the characters are awesome!!!

Wow you did see some unusual characters, I don't think I've seen any of them in the WS before!!!

Sounds like you had a very moving time, wish we were more patriotic here!

I was going to comment on the couple in the background too. I see I wasn't the only one wondering about them. :lmao:

It makes me wonder.....do they think no one can see them?? They are DIRECTLY behind where the photo is being taken. :confused3
