I agree, the OP wanted info on the rides and attractions... not a flaming for her beliefs.
Who is flaming her for her beliefs?

The people who have said they shouldn't go if they don't want to experience all of Disney.TigrLvsPooh said:Who is flaming her for her beliefs?![]()
ScottieDog said:Hi there....forgive me for commenting when I'm coming in sooo late, but as I skim these posts I question comes to mind.
There was mention of some Christians wanting to avoid all allusions to magic and witches (specifically the one in snow White). What I wonder is do these same folks celebrate Christmas with a tree, or Easter with eggs and bunnies?
I'm interested to learn.
Thanks,

I'm just saying... some Christians don't accept that Dinosaurs lived millions of years ago because there are only so many years accounted for in the Bible. She asked for things that might conflict with her beliefs... I'm just trying to help. This is not a thread for anyone to bash or flame anyone else for their beliefs or practices.ScottieDog said:Wowzer....if I were ever asked (I acknowledge that I wasn't) I'd say that keeping chidren ignorant about things like dinosaus is a form of abuse!!! Why would anyone want to set their own children up to look like fools.....and why stop with dinosaurs? Why not also just teach them that the sun rotates around the earth?

Well Gymbomom ... one of the hard facts about an open bulletin board is that a thread almost never stays on track. Even a moderated one like the DIS. IMO, none of that was "flaming". It made perfect sense that people who do not believe in her sect of Christianity would question the need to shelter her kids from ghosts, magic and the like. If only to understand why she feels and believes the way she does. That's not a flame. Also, the people who suggested that a Disney vacation may not be right were simply giving their opinions given the OP's self-imposed limitations. That is also not a flame.Gymbomom said:The people who have said they shouldn't go if they don't want to experience all of Disney.
The people who have said that why would you "shelter" your children from .....
The Disney "feel good magic" doesn't bother me, but the magic of socerers and witches would. That's why I will be skipping Snow White (b/c of the witch) and anything that deals with socerer Mickey. Just reading the description of Fantasmic bothers me! LOL.

An extensive study into history will show that Christmas and Easter do not come from Christian roots. However, the application is what makes it what it is. I know where these "Christian Holidays" originate from, but I have chosen a different application in my heart...so have many others. I am not sure if Christmas and Easter would affect the opinions of a visit to WDW.

3xthecharm said:Our main concern is that our children do not see magic as good. The wicked queen is very clearly evil. She is also defeated in the end by good. What bothers us is when "good" characters are practicing magic. We explain to our children that Satan's evil not only exists, but Satan is determined to destroy us.Good one 3xthecharm
