I bet you could find things at your grocery store that offend you (deviled ham ayone?) - you gonna avoid that aisle?

:rotfl: This cracked me up! :rotfl:

Despite being a Jew (gasp) and a lesbian (gasp) and one who accepts evolution as fact (gasp), and therefore precisely the sort of influence the OP would probably wish to shield her children from, I was going to suggest that she try to see WDW the way Jesus would in order to ease her fear and aversion, i.e. with merciful love and acceptance and joy. But then I pictured JC whirling around on Dumbo, kind of blissed out and waving with his hair flowing behind him, and realized that he would probably never visit WDW in the first place unless it was to minister to others. I therefore suggest that she either go elsewhere or come and be open to everything, or perhaps come to help others in some capacity.

In the end this post sounds more LSD-inspired than sage, so I leave it here as a humble and hopefully humorous if mildly offensive musing.

Tigrlvspooh- I'm with you 100%. The Dis boards are for all.
I don't however think that is what Joy was saying. She sounded like she was being very respectful of everyone. Just wanting to know what others personal experiences were who held the same beliefs as her.

ITA!!! She is asking for Christian based answers, pretty simple. Don't get why a few are so bothered by that. :confused3

OH!!! This is so funny actually!!

Thanks for the feedback. At least I am not alone in my understanding of the Circle of Life.

I understood most of the posts, but don't always agree. However, the OP is allowed her concerns. (I live in the Bible Belt... Do like the mental image of Jesus whirling around on Dumbo, I busted out laughing!)

Same here, we LOVE it. My aunt, holier than thou, is coming too and can't wait! She will find things offensive and say so, but still have the time of her life. Her daughter, granddaughter and 5 year old GREAT granddaughter will be with us as well, all of whom are little clones of Auntie and they too feel this very same way....EXCITED!

I actually feel bad for the OP. She came on here asking questions, which is what this board is all about. She is new to The Disboards also.
I still don't understand why some people are making fun and not being respectful. This is just breaking my heart.
I don't have some of the same beliefs as the OP but I would stand behind her right to have them!!
I have gone to look at some of her other posts and she has always been friendly and respectful on here. I think she deserves the same from others.

If people can not answer her question why are they posting? Maybe someone can help me with this, I don't know. ..... :guilty:

There have been very few negative posts and having fun is part of the Dis. I actually found the posts very informative.

If you only want somber posts this might be the wrong board.

I just wanted to say. I was pointing things out about the rides and anwsering the OP's questions.
I LOVE DISNEY!! My children love Disney. We pretty much do everything there.
I was just trying to help the OP make an informed decision.
My mother and I agree to disagree about certain things! I respect her opinion just like the OP's opinion. I wasn't saying I think Circle of Life or Living Seas, etc, is bad.. just gave her content that she may or may not find offensive. She sounded just like my mother. I knew where she was coming from and wanted to help her out.

I love the boards and being able to come and get questions anwsered. Even take part in heated debates. LOL
I never want to be a "troll" or disrespectful or unkind and would hate to be perceived that way.

Sorry, don't get this post. How and when was the OPer being disrespectful?

I agree the OP is right to want help....no problems with that....She has come to the right place lots of great advice...But what makes me laugh is that we can have a civilized discussion about religion with bashing and name calling....BUT lord help someone ask about refillable mugs, or getting there 3 year olds for free, or holding a spot in line, pool hopping....all our "Christian" beliefs go out the window.....Thats what I find humorous about this entire thread....We can make a comment about Jesus spinning on Dumbo< which I found quite funny and actually pictured it, but we cant ask if we can use a mug on our next trip to Disney....TOO funny.... :flower:

ITA!!!!! There are a few posts that are just uncalled for, the tone in them. Seems they are trying to make the OP look like she is the one with the problem and she should go elsewhere, when if fact it is really them! If this thread is such a problem, don't bother reading it.

I just have to say it again... it will not be a fun vacation for her and her family I think, after reading all her posts. Plus, it's too expensive to go there and not do half the stuff.

I'm just guessing, but perhaps when the OPer came back a second time to say she only wanted to hear from fundamentalist Christians, and that all the rest of us should keep our suggestions to ourselves, just perhaps some felt this was disrespectful.

I would like to make a suggestion to you Joy and anybody who finds Disney non-Christian.

I have family members (my husbands side) who refer to themselves and their religion as Christians, but from a Biblical teaching point, they are not. I do not keep my child from her family just because I know they are not true believers. If I did that, I could be compared to a Scribe or Pharisee. My child should not be kept from her non-believing family, but instead should be taught that Christianity is not belonging to some group (religion) or a lable (denomination), but instead is a way of life and a choice to which we are called.

On the other side of that, Disney is not a non-Christian place. If it was, Disney would not have Night of Joy in MK park. Instead they would have something else. Disney was designed so that those who want to always be like children, have a wonderful and exciting place to do it. I encourage you to use your trip as a time for your family to have fun and enjoy time away from the pressures you are surrounded with while at home. Use the attractions as a tool to teach your children how good overcomes darkness and in the end, that is the ultimate result which God will show before all of the world.

Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

I've been thinking while reading through this whole thread, and I can't think of any attractions in which the "bad guys" win. But not every ride is about a confrontation. There are still ghosts at the end of the Haunted Mansion... no one is trying to get rid of them.

As for the Living Seas, the intro movie can be skipped if you choose, but, if you don't like Ellen, you should know that there's a whole section inside the Living Seas devoted to Finding Nemo.

Oh, and there's a Circle of Life attraction inside the Land Pavilion.

Star Tours is an interesting question... Star Wars is all about the "Force," but I don't recall the ride script specifically mentioning the Force.

I don't really get all of this... but I hope you find some helpful information.

Gotcha! Must have missed that post. If that is what she said and meant, then I agree!

I like you bytheblood!!! And let me add to this the entire Christmas season at Disney...WOW!!!!! If they were non-Christian, they would go all out for this awesome occasion!

I truthfully do not believe that is what she meant, however her subject is one that many easily take offense to.

I believe her question was to ask that those who believe the way she does, she would like their opinion. I truthfully found that to be no different than one who would ask about ride restrictions for a child of a certain age, or one who would ask a question about a ride specific to one's weight. She was pin-pointing what she was looking.

What is this that is going on at The Living Seas that everyone is talking about?

I think it has something to do with the movie before you get in the Hydrolators dealing with the creation of the sea.

The thing I was referring to was the fact if someone has a problem with Ellen Degeneres lending her personality to Ellen's Universe of Energy because she has other preferences (which unless discussed with children wouldn't be known), would that also mean that the Living Seas is out of the question, because Ellen also voices the part of Dory in Finding Nemo, which is very much the theme of the Living Seas these days?

Just a thought!
